Wednesday, April 25th -- BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: The 150 mile rule is now in effect:
This Saturday, the 28th, I'll be speaking and signing at the BAY AREA BOOK FESTIVAL (www.baybookfest.org) at 10:00 a.m. in the Shattuck Plaza Ballroom in Berkeley, California -- It should be lots of fun -- another author, Laurie King, is "interviewing" me -- those type deals are interesting -- and then Q&A and then signing THE SIXTH DAY immediately after. So, if you can make it, come see me, and please, please, introduce yourself.
I'm enjoying hearing about what you're doing if you're retired. From what I've seen (personally) those retirees who don't spend a lot of time with other people, who don't get out there and DO SOMETHING, are bored and tired and not very content and become more and more "internalized", don't feel as well because they're focusing on themselves. DON'T DO THIS. Don't forget, if you don't have other people in your life, on a daily basis, then you're really missing out. One life, only one -- don't spent a single day unhappy/bored/focused on yourself and your problems --
Yes, naturally, you always think about Shoulder Blades Back going up stairs, walking to the gym, running to give your other half a kiss -- you get the idea -- think about this when you CARDIO today --

Tuesday 24th April -- And then there's the right-hand side mirror that shows you how close or how far away you are from the curb -- that's gotta be up there with my other favorites so far -- I never know, never, sometimes get out of the car to check, then have to play with the steering to try again -- Can't wait to try this wonderful gadget -- alas, I won't need it all that often.
I'm enjoying hearing about how you felt about your job if you're now retired and what you think about retirement, if you're retired. Those of you who are bored in retirement -- What are you doing about it? Get a plan, tell me about it --
Today is National Gym Day (No, I made that up, but it could be) Here's what I suggest: Many of you don't go to a gym, very few of you have a trainer to keep you on the straight and narrow. So, for your next birthday or Christmas, here's what you ask for: A session with a trainer. Maybe a six-month gym membership. Why? The trainer will show you how to use the equipment and exactly what equipment to use given your physical limitations, if you have any. So do this, okay? Check out the gyms in your immediate area, go visit, they'll give you a tour, you can also pick out a trainer yourself, they're not assigned (well, unless you have a very weird gym) Today, after you get home from your gym visit, CARDIO --

Yep, here it is again, Friday. I'm think there's got to be magic involved since it was Friday a couple minutes ago. What do you think?
WHAT IS MY NEW BABY? Well, not a kitten, not a puppy (not with two 18 pound kitters) Most of you got it -- My new car arrived at the dock a couple of days ago. I pick her up tomorrow and learn all the new stuff I can do, like, maybe, calling friends by only thinking about it, then pressing a single button -- who knows? She is red -- and that's exactly what I wanted. I "built" her down to her hub caps. Now, I don't have her name yet, figure she'll tell me when I see her tomorrow morning for the first time. Yep, I'll post a photo of her --
Guys, I am so pleased you're enjoying THE SIXTH DAY -- such accolades, really makes my day. If you could do me a favor, and simply rewrite your opinion of the book to me at ReadMoi@gmail.com -- I would really appreciate it.
MAKE THIS A HABIT: whenever you put your foot on the first step of stairs or the first step of an escalator, shoulder blades immediately go back. Will you do this? You need to make it a habit, make it automatic --

Good news -- THE SIXTH DAY came in at #7 on the hardcover list on the NYT, #3 on the combined list for the NYT (hardcover/ebooks) and #2 on USA TODAY (this is excellent because it's actual sales, so that means you guys bought enough copies to make THE SIXTH DAY the second bestselling novel (both hardcover and paperback, fiction, non-fiction, in the U.S.)-- Hey, J.T. and I will take this wonderful news along with a nice tall glass of champagne. I consider this a nice accolade: If you haven't read it yet, DO -- and let me know what you think.
Mailing off the galleys for PARADOX today -- And I gotta say (and believe me, I never say this about one of my books) I couldn't believe how good it is -- oh be still my beating heart. Guess what? You can now pre-order PARADOX -- signed copy -- from B&N and Books A Million. It's coming out July 31st --
It's gorgeous and sunny here today in Sausalito, indeed the whole Bay area -- Lots of errands to run -- and I have some news about my new Baby, she just came in -- haven't seen her yet. Now, what do you think my new Baby is?
Don't flinch, don't procrastinate, won't wuss out of me or the minions might come down your chimney and really, you do not want that to happen -- think of the mess. CARDIO your brains out, I don't care what you do, just get your heart going, your legs moving, your whole body warm and fluid and flexible.

Going through the galleys of PARADOX much faster than I thought I would -- hey, you know what? It's a good book -- talk about twists and turns and "unique" stuff -- I don't know yet if it's up for pre-order, I'll find out, let you know about signed copies as well --
Paula talked about all the stretches she does that a PT gave her for sciatica -- she's had no problems in a very long time. If this is your problem, write to her.
Off to work I go -- back to the galleys, catching pesky little errors, seeing clunker sentences and fixing them and you know the biggest thing? Repeats of the same word in say two sentences next to each other -- Isn't that a kick? So I have to be really thorough, eyeballs and brain coordinated.
And the gym's today -- time to clean out the brain, concentrate on making the muscles and bod as happy as can be -- It's always a treat and the "up" -- the feeling of complete and utter virtue when you've finished working out. I recommend it for everyone -- You hear me? Off the duffs, and CARDIO --

Tuesday 17th April -- No word yet on any resolution with B&N about late delivery of your books -- I'll keep you posted.
I'm in a pickle, forgot about galleys for PARADOX because they sent them to me really early -- so that's what I'm going to be doing for the next 3-4 days -- working like a maniac to clean up errors/misspellings/typos/clunkers in PARADOX. Yes, smack me aside the head. Who knows where that saying comes from? Is it southern?
All of you, after you stretch, and I mean REALLY stretch, loosing up all those lovely muscles, get outside and simply walk with your critters or a neighbor or a lover or an enemy (an enemy? Imagine how fast the time will go!)
Gorgeous Tuesday, a day to rejuvenate and be thankful for all the good things in your life --

Friday 13th April -- Newsletter on its way to you -- It's always fun to write. When I begin I never know what my fingers are going to type -- some times it's wonderful, sometimes, alas, it really sucks and has to have the delete button.
I'm hearing you guys are enjoying THE SIXTH DAY -- some find it very scary which means, yeah, mission accomplished. How many of you own and play with a drone? What do you think of them in general? Ah, and the bigger question: what do you think of tree frog venom? shiver my timbers, that's scary.
It's the day to be on the look-out for anything wonky that might be headed your way. You could practice ducking, running, twisting away, shouting Help! this morning after coffee, just in case there's a live superstition out there looking for you.
End the wonderful week with an enthusiastic workout -- limited? Do what you can -- think about it, slot it in your schedule. It's so super important that you MOVE as much as you can -- your body has to know you're there and willing to keep going or else, why should your body get up in the morning?

Thursday, 12th April -- More yummy feedback on The Sixth Day -- Keep it coming, it makes my day. I think about what you guys have to say while I'm sweating my eyebrows off with cardio-- (no, I'm lying, I never to sweat.) Have you ever wondered why some folk sweat like mad and others, like moi, simply don't? I can remember playing tennis as a teenager in one hundred degree heat and never sweating. Any more non-sweaters out there? Or do you think this is a very strange thing for me even to mention? If you do, you're probably right.
Writing the April Newsletter today so you should start getting it on Friday or Saturday. If you don't get yours, check spam, then still not there, email me at ReadMoi@gmail.com -- you all know the drill.
Today you're going to stretch that magnificent bod of yours, gently and slowly, feeling all the muscles warm up, getting back your "stretchability" -- who can touch their toes? It's always cardio, so don't whine, it's really unattractive, just do it or you can be sure a minion will alert me --

April 11, 2018

Wednesday, 11th April -- Thank you for all the wonderful positive feedback on THE SIXTH DAY -- I want more, more, more -- so do let me know what you think after you've read it, okay? Also, if you really like it, do email me at ReadMoi@gmail.com and tell me. Why, you ask? Because in the paperback the publisher uses reader quotes and those used get another copy (this time the paperback, signed)
It's so GOOD to be home. All is humming along, the new FBI thriller (which number is this one? 23, I believe) And Chelle gave me a very interesting title to consider: Labyrinth -- have to see how it settles. If you have more title ideas, let me know, please.
Everyone do CARDIO yesterday? (I believe Janice does crunches in the aisle of the plane, she travels so much, so now she can add walking up and down and visiting with everyone). So cardio, folk, this is Wednesday, the pinnacle of the week and deserving of being celebrated with a nice sweaty workout.

Tuesday, 10th April -- Home from Savannah, beautiful wedding, model-thin bride in the most gorgeous wedding dress I've ever seen -- and the groom's a sweetheart (both are air force pilots) -- It's great to be home --

THE SIXTH DAY is out TODAY -- if by any remote chance you haven't gotten the book, today's the day -- and do not forget your mother-in-law, your neighbors -- or their pets -- Do let me know what you think of the book -- if it was wild and woolly enough for you --

Hey, it's exercise for me today -- CARDIO -- none for three days and my body was demanding, "What is going on here? Suddenly I'm no longer important to you? What if I decide to screw around with you since you ignored me for THREE DAYS?" Oh yes, cardio today for sure. And you? I've alerted all the exercise minions -- they're watching --
