Friday, 12th of January -- PARADOX goes off today! Big huge yea -- it's always such a bizarre feeling when a book heads off into the ether to appear on my editor's computer. I'll let you know what she thinks --
Today, nearly all the house will be de-Christmasized -- yet another bizarre feeling after looking around every single day and smiling at all the beautiful bright reds and greens, the tree lights, the garland lights -- another year simply gone --
Who hates, absolutely hates, having to get up in the DARK? Alexa goes off and I shout out "Alexa, stop!" and she does and I snooze for another 15 minutes, or not, depending on my guilt level, then she starts up again and it's so fricking dark, black as pitch, and I'm turning on lights and and thinking, but it's supposed to be the daytime. Right now, at 7:20, it's all foggy out, can't see a thing outside the house, sort of like being cocooned in gray nothingness. Isn't that poetically depressing? Sorry.
Work out today, guys, really give it your all. The cardio part of your performance -- Push hard, get those leg muscles singing arias. And never forget, shoulder blades back, gut in, feet straight when you walk --

Thursday, 11th of January -- Guess what? Paradox (the 22nd FBI) is going in manana -- huge big yea! I would have sent it in today but caught a bit of a problem and have to fix it today -- Yep, these things happen all the time. I'm always grateful when I catch boo boos.
This is a wild day -- the rest of Christmas is coming down and the house looks naked. Incredible from one extreme to the other. Are you guys all de-Christmasized? What do your pets think? Do they even notices? (Neither Peyton nor Eli pay any attention) I'm told many pets try to devastate a Christmas tree -- again, mine look at it and walk away. Interesting how different they all are from each other.
Today, here's what you're going to do. WHENEVER YOU WALK, from your bedroom to your kitchen, down the aisles in the grocery store, from your car to a store, ANYWHERE at all, I cant you to think shoulder blades back, stomach in, and your feet are straight in front of you. Okay? This has to become a habit -- particularly those feet straight in front -- Don't forget your bat wings and cardio -- but SBB -- that's always the biggie --

January 10, 2018

Wednesday, 10th of January -- It's already Wednesday and the week is skipping right along. I hope you're skipping along with it. As I told you yesterday THE SIXTH DAY is now in the publishing hopper, moving swiftly toward galleys (that's the final book and the final time I go over it for little stuff or maybe a tweak here and there or obliterating typos or awkwardnesses) and then it's out in April -- amazing journey for that tome. I do hope it's good -- I'm too close to it right now to know.
The edit on the 22nd FBI -- PARADOX -- finishing it up this week. And then, goodness, what will I do with myself? I know, I'll write the third Grayson Sherbrooke otherworldly adventure novella. I know the setting and the general idea of the story (We're talking an evil Egyptian god here, not sure yet who he/she is) Remember when I went to England last spring? That was the setting for the novella -- the Lake District, Bowman -- old, old town -- and I took photos of all the places Grayson will see and visit.
Today, it's a nice lovely hard workout for you. No, workout sounds too general, like something you can kiss off. Specifically, begin with your stretches, drop to the floor and do your leg lifts, then bat wing rolls, then CARDIO -- that will take you a total of 37 minutes, no more. That's only a tiny portion of your day and just look at the pay off for you -- Go for it --

January 9, 2018

Tuesday, 9th of January -- Got some lovely rain coming down, which is great except when it's too much and there are mud slides and houses go over and people's lives are in the toilet for a while, no, that's not good. But a nice steady rain with a let up to dry out a bit, that's perfect. But Nature rarely likes to do things just as we'd like -- I don't suppose any of you have any idea how to get Nature in line?
I bet you that freshman QB at Alabama is a super-hero today on campus -- Can you imagine?
Work today, finishing The Sixth Day edit and moving smartly forward to finish editing Paradox. Is everything good here? You bet -- nothing like that wonderful light at the end of the tunnel -- but there really isn't a tunnel, so I have to think about this.
Today, you're going to think every other minute: SHOULDER BLADES BACK -- okay? And while you're cardioing, SBB!

Friday, 5th of January -- Going to go to the gym today -- it seems like this huge outing -- isn't it strange after you're not feeling well for a time just leaving the house seems like such a big deal? In any case, back to about 75%, a blessing. Hope none of you have succumbed -- turns out about 20 family members got it. What's it like in your area?

Wild Card Playoff Picks:
l) Chiefs over Titans
2) Rams over Falcons
3) Jaguars over Bills
4) Panthers over Saints

Come on, guys, what are your picks?

Getting copy edited The Sixth Day today -- and have nearly two weeks to go over it -- this is excellent.

If you're 100%, I know you're worthy and not slackers, and you're giving your beautiful bods lots of stretches, drinking lots of fluids (usually non-alcoholic), and making yourselves generally pleasant. Did I ever tell you what makes a successful husband? (He has a flat stomach and is useful)

January 3, 2018

Wednesday, 3rd of January -- I would like to express my sorrow at the loss of Sue Grafton. I read and enjoyed her unique characters and her equally unique style and setting (back in the eighties on the coast of southern California before all the technology hit writers in the face). She broke new ground in mystery/thriller writing for women -- I'll never forget when she was invited to be the keynote speaker in London at the Bouchercon some years ago -- all the "old guard" -- male authors who wallowed in the alcoholic bar fly P.I., women as hookers and if they weren't, they always died -- were really upset how such a horrible thing could come about. Well, come about it did. I will miss her greatly. As I know you will as well. Many times what happens is that the family asks the publisher to find an author to write under the deceased author's name. I'm very pleased to say that Sue's daughter announced her mother's series will end with Y -- that is an excellent tribute.
I'm a week and a half into the "flu" -- haven't had this for at least a thousand years (well close) -- feeling a bit more human today and it's wonderful. I might even hop on my bike (no gym yet, don't want to kill the world) see how long I can ride without falling off.
I hope all of you are well and happy and coming down from a great holiday -- have you taken down your Christmas decorations yet? No, I haven't yet -- next week.
Please give me another couple minutes of your cardio today -- can't have me collapsing to the floor with no muscles left, a puddle, not at all appetizing. Don't you let down or the minions will tell me. He Haw, it's 2018!

January 1, 2018

January 1st -- Monday -- Football pool is over, so send me in your final tally. Mine from yesterday was 3-1. Since I was sick and out of town the week before, I gave myself a 2-2) so I ended up with 44-24. How about you guys?
Getting slowly back to humanness, a great thing, that's for sure. Hope you're all having a lovely day.
Do me a favor: spend three minutes today alone, all by yourself, in a quiet spot and think about what you accomplished in 2017 and pat yourself on the back. Now think about what you left undone. Do you still want to make these things happen? You don't need any sort of silly resolution or writing it down, you will remember, impossible not to. Now, say good-bye to your alone place and go rejoin the group and laugh lots -- It's a brave new year --

December 29, 2017

Friday, December 29th: Still polluted, still pathetic. Is there hope? Yes, sure, why not? Don't forget all of you are giving me three minutes of your cardio everyday until I'm back in the saddle again. Is everybody getting ready to get plastered this weekend, to fall out of their saddle and get dragged? Have fun, be careful. Happy new year!

December 28, 2017

Thursday, 28th of December -- still pathetic, but isn't it always better to be pathetic at home instead of with relativos? You feel guilty you might make kids sick so you don't hug anyone -- so you hunker down and endure. All right, no more whining -- but it's tempting, I mean, no one else in the world or the universe has ever had a flu as bad as mine -- isn't it great how we think when we're sick?
I hope all of you are enjoying yourself -- munching Christmas goodies (the kind with no calories) and watching football/basketball games and being pleasant to your family and healthy. If you're well, then that means CARDIO -- and do three minutes for me --

Who knows how to get rid of a cough?

December 21, 2017

Thursday 21st of December -- stay tuned - I'm posting the Trade Paperback cover of ENIGMA this morning -- so be sure to take a look at my Facebook page.
All of you sound great, you're about finished, you're excited, feeling good about things, you're READY for whatever Christmas might bring. I love the stocking stories -- do you have a maximum you spend or not? I like the dogs fighting over the other dog's stocking gifts.
Working today, editing Paradox -- all is good --

Now it's time to reward yourself for all your hard work. Cardio for yourself, for your thighs, for your beautiful heart, and bid the candy, pie, cake, fudge a fond adieu --
