Thursday, 29th October -- MEA CULPA! I made my second mistake of the year (haha) -- Third baseman for the Dodgers pulled out of game because of positive Covid test, NOT the pitcher. So many of you corrected me -- thank you.
Okay, WEEK 8 NFL
Thursday night game -- Panthers vs. Falcons. Neither team is setting the football world on fire -- I flipped a coin -- Panthers. Make your pick, write it down.
Beautiful 2 mile hike yesterday on Octopus Trail -- it's off the main fire road on Ring Mountain and is in deep forest --
Foot happy.
VORTEX -- moving swiftly now toward the Olivia (CIA) denouement -- She just got out of deep caca and getting ready to leap into more --
Now, stand tall in front of a window or mirror -- from your WAIST, bend slightly left, raise your straight arm -- feel the stretch. Do on the other side, Do not move anything below waist. Tell me what you think -- and don't forget (as if I'd let you) WALK today and sing your favorite song.

Wednesday, 28th October -- Do you think you'll have any trick or treaters on Saturday night? Since we never have any (long steep driveway) it's a non-issue.
That pitcher who was taken out when he was on a historic run in the 5th inning? And everyone was screaming? Well, they'd just found out he'd tested positive for Covid and took him out immediately. Them's the rules, very tough.
Lunch with friends at The Cantina was great -- it's so cool to actually eat and talk to other people longer than a word or two about the weather.
It's mid-week already -- blows my mind, what there is of it. Missed hiking and do you know? I "missed" it, really, lots -- so it's a habit, a regular part of the day, I hope never never to skip it until it rains -- PLEASE rain -- and then we'll see. There's always rain boots, right?
Everyone, stand in front of the mirror -- straight, now, turn your head slowly to the left (ONLY your head, not your shoulders or body), then to the right, repeat. Then dip your head down and swing from one side to the other, several times, then make a complete circle, several times -- you'll hear all sorts of crackling -- this is an amazing thing to do for your flexibility --

Tuesday, 27th October: I've got two great announcements for you, so listen up and get excited --
1) Kindle Box Deal (Amazon only) runs from now until November 1st -- THE LOST KEY (Brit in the FBI series) will cost only $1.99! This is a great deal -- go for it.
http://cmscontent.penguinrandomhouse.......
2) I'm going to be on Zoom with the Solano County Library get-together on November 1st at 1pm. Go to this link to buy tickets and books if you want, but mainly come see me! https://www.authorsluncheon.info
Today is lunch at The Cantina with friends for the first time in 3 weeks outside, of course. It's going to be 74 degrees and sunny and isn't that just about perfect.
I need everybody to give me one minute of their walk/hike today since I'm tackling tacos this afternoon.
Most of us did really really good in week 7 -- NFL games. Last night as many of you saw, the Bears sucked a big one. Go forth with a big smile today.

Friday, 23rd October -- YEA -- yet again, it's a big beautiful Friday, which means all stress falls off your shoulders at precisely 5:00 o'clock this evening and you take a big breath and smile huge -- pizza for dinner? A lovely Chardonnay? Or best of all, pistachios while watching the World Series. The folk in Florida are ecstatic the Rays made it, I've heard from friends and they're banging drums, doing 'win' chants, you name it, maybe even sacrificing pizza slices -- now that's really serious.
So today, this lovely COOL day here in Sausalito (high is 66) work then a lovely walk, still primarily on the flat side, don't want the foot to kick up. And then pizza for dinner. Pepperoni, Sherlock's and my favorite. Think there's some cross-over there?
If you didn't get the newsletter, please go to my web site and sign up, it's super easy. And if you sometimes don't receive it, it's your server flinging it into spam -- what gall.
Whatever your mood, your bod always wants attention so don't deny it -- stretch, do your arm exercises, your neck exercises, warm up those amazing muscles and get outside and roam around your neighborhood, strut your stuff, enjoy the feeling of physical power and endurance, and never ever forget -- SBB!!!!!

Thursday, 22nd October -- WEEK 7 FOOTBALL: This is the first game plus the 4 on Sunday/Monday -- so now we've got 5 games per week. Tonight, we're really blessed with the GIANTS and the EAGLES. Okay now, the Giants are 1-4 and the Eagles are 1-4-1. So toss a coin. I'll tell you though, if Wentz doesn't get his act together after a what was it? $110 million dollar contract, he might be sent to the Gulag. So write down your pick in your football book -- I guess I'll go with Wentz -- at least I know he's capable of being really good, at least in the past.
Did everyone get the October Newsletter?
And you saw the cover of the ebook boxed set of FOUR Grayson Sherbrooke novellas? It'll be up on the 26th for pre-order. I'll let you know when it's due to be published.
Did you know voting is compulsory in Australia? Before computers it would take a HUGE bureaucracy to find out who didn't vote.
Outside today, people, walk and play in the leaves, maybe rake up the ones in your own yard after, of course, you've been a "leaf angel". And please, WALK, to and fro, backwards and forwards, and maybe, if you feel up to it, sideways.

Wednesday, 21st October -- another glorious day here in Sausalito, high of 74, which means walking/hiking will be a pleasure -- yesterday -- are you ready for this? Hiked FOUR, yes, 4 miles. Foot seems happy enough, thank goodness. It was 68 here in Sausalito and in the 80s where we hiked. Only about 6 miles north -- micro-climates are something else.
All of you who are running in the snow, tell me what it feels like -- must be fairly amazing.
Thursday night football, Week 7: Giants vs. Eagles --
Come on, photos of Halloween decorations, please.
The little twist I had with Olivia in VORTEX worked out nicely, now I'm on the precipice of another traumatic adventure. Good luck, Olivia.
Another arm exercise without free weights: Stand in front of the mirror. Tense your arm muscles, hold them tight, then bent elbow, go in and out from your sides, like a chicken -- slowly. Do 12 times. Shoulder blades are locked as well. Let me know what you think. Be sure to hold the muscles tight. KEEP NECK RELAXED.
Who has a Taco Bell in the neighborhood?

Tuesday, 20th October -- FOOTBALL: Week 6: I'm 3-2 this week with KC winning last night. I saw just about everyone had a crappy week -- oh, well, it's fun, and that's what's important. To day, I'm 18-12.
Good hike yesterday, no worthy photos though -- sorry.
Work today on VORTEX and I know what you're thinking: goodness, your life is very BORING -- I really prefer to think of it as scheduled and marvelously disciplined. Will you buy that?
Not long until Halloween -- I'll be shutting down the photo contest on Saturday, the 24th, announcing winners on Sunday, so enter if you've got something special and very cool.
Today, in front of the mirror because form's important. Begin with shoulders to your ears, then SBB, then drop -- repeat 6 times. Now, arms straight out and roll forward 12 times, then back 12 times -- repeat until you really don't want to anymore. Last, but super for a stretch and for your back, arms up over your head to touch, back down, then up again, like jumping jacks without the legs. For lower body, WALK or hop on your bike and read one of my books -- can't go wrong.

Monday, 19th October: FOOTBALL:
so far I'm 2-2. The Bucs and the 49ers won and those who shall not be named LOST (well, all right -- Vikings and Patriots). Now we'll see about KC this afternoon. Their game against the Bills starts on the West Coast at 1:30 -- I hope the Bills show up like the Raiders did last week. We'll see.
Today is, repeat, repeat -- work on VORTEX and a hike and FOOTBALL -- sounds good, right? I'm not complaining. I hope all of you are hanging in, enjoying the beautiful fall weather , the changing leaves -- we have very very little of that, alas.
Is everyone decorated for Halloween? Did anyone actually carve pumpkins with kids/grandkids? I can't remember the last time I actually carved a pumpkin. Don't forget photos.
Go forth today with your pet or your neighbor's pet and walk and whistle and swing your arms, all the while chewing gum.

Sunday, 18th October -- FOOTBALL -- as far as I know the Patriots play today against Denver, but I also heard three more Covid cases at the Patriots. The talking heads on ESPN a few minutes ago didn't say the game wouldn't happen -- so who knows? Well, lots of rest for Cam Newton -- Everyone written down their picks in their football book?
l) Patriots over Broncos
2) Vikings over Falcons
3) Bucs over Packers
4) 49ers over Rams
5) Chiefs over Bills
Now we'll see who plays --
We've cooled off again, thankfully, high today 74, then 70 manana. Some of you are already getting snow -- YIKES.
Yes, yes, I will be wrapping Christmas presents. I can hear you asking, "Haven't you wrapped enough for the entire continent?" Well, honestly, not quite. Such fun, love to see the pile grow.
Everyone, time to stand in front of the mirror, arms straight out from your body, roll forward, roll back -- at least a dozen time -- make those arms ache. Make sure it's SBB,, then, now this one is very very important: Stand straight and turn ONLY your neck SLOWLY to the left, then slowly to the right -- you'll hear snap, crackle and pop -- then back again -- do a couple of times, THEN make a circle with your neck one way, then the other -- slowly. Do this maybe three times -- DO THIS EVERY DAY.
Ah, here comes football --

Halloween's coming up fast, the day the zombies burst out of the ground and terrify the crap out of us, not to mention eat our candy and eat our brains.
Update on BOMBSHELL, the 17th FBI Thriller: I'm nearly finished with the edit. The cover is very cool, explodes with eye-popping color. BOMBSHELL is set in Maestro, Va., (the setting of the 10th FBI thriller, POINT BLANK) and in Washington.
JEWEL OF THE LION (first thriller in A Brit in the FBI series partnered with J.T. Ellison). JEWEL moves fast and you don't know what's going to happen on the next page, and you're biting your toenails or a zombie's toenails. J.T. is an excellent plotter and that means when we brainstorm no plot gets left behind.
Alas, no kids want candy enough to crawl up our oxygen-deprived steep driveway, and the sad thing is, I still have a big bowl of candy, every year, but no one comes, not even the zombies with brain bags.
Take care, Catherine
