November 29, 2020

Sunday, 29th November -- No quarterbacks for Denver, no stadium for 49ers for three weeks (mandate from Santa Clara County) -- of course there are other stadiums, even high school -- so I'm sure they'll work something out. Time grows shorter and shorter. Do you think all teams will finish the season? I personally wouldn't mind a pro football game every night -- like Steelers and Ravens on Tuesday night -- if that happens. We'll see. AGAIN,
WEEK 12
Buc over Chiefs
New Orleans over Broncos
Raiders over Falcons
Browns over Jaguars
Wonderful Mexican at The Cantina yesterday -- and a nice walk afterwards -- to get the tortilla chips off the thighs. Today, wrap Christmas presents, eat turkey sandwiches and maybe dressing for an afternoon snack. Hop on your bike if you have one indoors and mainly, enjoy the day, big time.

November 27, 2020

Friday, 27th November -- Okay, I gave all of you a respite from posts Thanksgiving -- but now I'm back. Yesterday felt like Saturday, you know, sleeping in a bit, but now it's today, Friday, and BIG YEA! we have another Saturday tomorrow, the real one, sleeping in with absolutely no guilt at all -- except for the cats.
I hope all of you have a great Thanksgiving, lots of good food, talking with family (we were on Zoom for an hour with 8 diff. east coast families, catching up,)
Week 12: Football -- you all know the game between Pittsburgh and Baltimore was postponed due to virus in Baltimore until Sunday. Now that's in question -- more COVID -- Lamar Jackson, QB, tested positive. Only now there's less "wiggle" room for rescheduling games. We'll see.
I went 2-0 yesterday -- YEA, which I get to start Week 12 with 1-0. Did everyone get one of the two games right? If so, we're all wonderful.
Go out and walk off the turkey, the stuffing, the mashed potatoes, the pumpkin pie, etc. etc. -- The walking/hiking world is beautiful and there waiting for you, no virus nearby.

November 25, 2020

Wednesday, 25th November -- Okay, let's do something different with the 3 NFL games tomorrow. Let's make it a slam-dunk -- pick a winner for all three games -- Now, all you have to do is to WIN ONE of your picks and you begin Week 12 with a 1-0, okay?
1) Texans over Lions (Every single time I go with the Lions, they lose)
2) Washington over Dallas
3) Pittsburg over Baltimore
Gorgeous two-mile walk yesterday -- we continue with gorgeous weather, but really, Rain Minions, where are you? Picking cranberries? Making pumpkin pies? All right, you can do that through tomorrow, then, please rain in these California parts.
Everyone, ZOOM with friends and or family tomorrow, if even for a few minutes, all right? Happy Thanksgiving

November 24, 2020

Tuesday, 24th November -- Okay, let's get the pain out of the way (well, I have MUCHO pain anyway) Week 11: I'm 1-4 -- The Browns were the only team that didn't let me down. The Bucs -- do you know I think Arians (the coach) needs to play Tom Brady's game, not his. Brady doesn't do well throwing far downfield -- Maybe he'll come to his senses, but it sure was sad last night. To date, I'm: 33-22.
Yesterday, hiked/walked a beautiful trail in the redwoods in Larkspur, where there's little to no sun, but gorgeous, for nearly 5 miles. Yep, that's right, mama walked FIVE MILES -- I'll post one photo of that walk to you can see what it looks like.
And were all of you good? Were you out there putting one foot in front of the other? If so, GOOD. And guess what, you get to do it again today --
Gotta get some celery for the stuffing Thursday. Have everything else -- how about you guys? I'll get we're
all doing lots of Zooming with family.
One final nudge: Before you head out today, be sure to stretch, okay? and start counting those Thanksgiving blessings -- come on, you'll think of something to be grateful for.

November 23, 2020

Monday, 23rd November. Well, sigh, a bit of temporary sadness -- so far for Week 11, I'm 2-3 -- Tonight, if the Bucs win, I'll tie, which is better than losing outright. How did you guys do? I still can't believe I switched to the Dolphins, and those dratted fish had the gall to lose. Wait -- they're mammals, sorry. Maybe fish would have done better, who knows? Like the Marlins, maybe.
It's Thanksgiving week -- I'm getting emails from the publisher -- out of the office this week. Excuse me? You've been out of the office for 8 months -- How can this be when I'm not out of the office? How about you guys? Is this an official holiday week for you as well? You close down your zoom and your laptops? No answering business emails? Well, if true, that's GREAT --
Today more going through VORTEX -- as I told you I really like this part -- so many little stupidities to catch, little things to add, whatever.
Hike with me this afternoon -- in spirit -- it's beautiful here today, high of 62. Going up to Larkspur, a trail up there is in the middle of redwoods, haven't been there in months. How about you? Where will you walk/hike today? Don't forget to stretch and roll those outstretched arms forward, then back. Wallow in nature, people, it's there, waiting for you and it's free.

Saturday, 21st November
WEEK 11 NFL Football picks:
In my post to you yesterday I wrote I wanted the Saints to win because I wanted to Jameis Winston to do well and so I picked them. BUT, several of you pointed out he wasn't going to be the Saint QB on Sunday, it would be Hill -- So, I'm changing my pick from Saints over Falcons to DOLPHINS OVER BRONCOS.
Sorry, but this is the first time in a gazillion years I've made a change, so bear with me but it means you have to make another choice as well. Sorry, Mr. Hill.
And I do like the Dolphins and hope the best for Tua -- buy that kid's been through a lot.
Today -- now don't be shocked -- but it's CANTINA in Mill Valley. Do you think I'm in a huge deep rut? Ys, sure, but I feel safe at The Cantina, and today the high is 63 degrees and sunny, so perfect outside. Plus it's great warm greasy salty chips, good salsa and great tacos. So find yourself a Mexican restaurant where you feel safe, and go for it.
California is on a county by county decision with COVID. Many have a 10 pm curfew, lots of closings, but not here in Marin County -- we're doing well, only 13 people in the hospital. Still, everyone has to be vigilant, stay away from each other, no touching or kissing, well, maybe an air-kiss is okay, but from 6 feet.
It's nearly Thanksgiving -- alas no one should travel to see other family, so it will be different. But it will still be a glorious day -- lots of football, turkey and dressing, for most of us -- and Zoom smiles, lots of Zoom smiles.

November 20, 2020

Friday, 20th November -- Okay, I began Week 11 with yet another 0-1 -- dratted Cardinals. I wonder why they didn't show up, or did they simply believe their hype and think they were invincible? Whatever, sigh.
Week 11 picks:
2) Browns over Eagles
3) Patriots over Texans
4) Bucs over Rams
5) Saints over Falcons (I really want Jameis Winston to do well)
I'll post again manana -- everyone get out your football score book and write down your picks.
In the photo I posted of the nutcracker heads and the MacKenzie Childs arrangement, many of you commented on the painting on the wall behind. We have three paintings by this artist. She lives in St. Barts. She's half Vietnamese/French. Her French mother told her to be anything but an artist -- Mom is an artist, of course. She's tremendously talented, as you can see.
Today is the beginning of yet another gorgeous weekend. So outside with your delectable selves, stretch and then take off for a nice long walk. Steal or borrow a dog and you'll find yourself grinning from ear to ear at how deliriously happy the dog is to be with you outside, going somewhere.
It's craziness now, as you all know, so you MUST be extra careful, stay away from strangers, if you can, although I say if you're around older people, it should be fine, since if an older person has COVID, he/she'd be in the hospital.
Happy beautiful Fall day!!!!

November 19, 2020

Thursday, 19th November -- I hope everyone got the November newsletter -- if you didn't, give it another couple of days, then yell at your server for being an idiot and let me know.
Tonight -- Thursday Night Football game, Week 11 -- pick 1:
I'm going with Cardinals over Seahawks -- and who has a clue what will happen -- I'm just hoping for a good game, well, the Cardinals coming out on top. So, write down your pick, get out some Christmas presents and Wrap and Watch at the same time.
As I told you, I'm going now through the entire manuscript -- VORTEX -- adding, correcting, and believe me, I really like to do it. It's great fun to see what's happening to these people I've gotten to very close to, shaking my head, cheering for them --
No rain today here so it's out after two days HIKING -- mud? Surely not too much, I mean we didn't have huge storms -- it'll be good to be outside and smell the wonderful season.
Who's making the whole turkey dinner deal?

Wednesday, 18th November --
Week 11 -- Thursday Night Football: Cardinals vs. Seahawks
I'm taking the Cardinals -- I'm hoping for a really good game. So take your pick -- this is a really tough one.
It rained yesterday, not a whole lot, but still. And it's sprinkling right now -- big yea. I don't know which of you gave the most vigorous rain dance, but THANK YOU.
VORTEX is done -- Now I've started at the beginning, going through it for stupid errors or places that need a bit more umph, catching dangling loose ends, there's always something. Like I've told you, an error/type gets into the manuscript and it breeds.
Do I like the book? I have absolutely no clue. Always impossible for me to tell.
All of you who aren't being held prison inside (if you have hail the size of golf balls or 80 MPH winds) then bundle up and get your very fine bods outside. Hopefully here the rain will either kick up or grind to a halt either way, out I go.
The November newsletter is going out today. Let me know if you don't get it by Friday. If you don't, first check your spam -- it means your server needs a smack to the chops.
Christmas decorations creeping into your living room yet? Any lights blinking on outside, bringing smile when folk drive by?
