Wednesday, 7th October -- BIG YEA! Peyton came home sort of stumbling around, tried to jump here and there and that didn't work. He had dinner, he's just fine. But Eli, I guess it's the vet smell of other animals, his tail was puffed out at least 6", he was hissing up a storm, and he wanted to destroy Peyton -- Does anyone know how long the vet smell lasts? All is good.
Hike today -- another big YEA! -- still not going to have much elevation, being careful, a drag, but smart, so I'm told.
VORTEX coming -- today a nice personal talk between Olivia and Savich -- a getting to know her, so you will like her and root for her -- digits crossed.
Everyone, if I'm hiking, you are too -- I should say I'm walking in the wild -- so out there. Who can whistle? Whistle while you walk -- isn't that an old song?

Tuesday, 6th October -- NFL FOOTBALL WEEK 4
I was 3-2 and to date, 12-8. How did you guys do?
My poor Peyton has to go to the vet today, have his teeth cleaned, an abscessed tooth pulled, which means, nothing to eat or drink after 9:00 last night. Unhappy camper. If you happen to think of him today, say a little prayer. Of course I spent most of the night going through his dying under anesthesia.
Wild fires are getting contained, and that's a blessing. Everyone is praying there won't be any more -- add your prayers, please. This has been devastating. Many many small wineries were destroyed, countless houses. No more bumming myself out or you.
Today is a new day. It's going to be a very fine day. We're all going to get our SBB and smile really big and decorate for Halloween, casting out little prayers every now and then. Outside with you if it isn't raining, snowing, sleeting, hailing or 100 degrees. No excuses otherwise -- OUTSIDE you go.

Monday, 5th October -- Monday Night Football: Here's what I know: So far, the Patriots (without Cam Newton) will play the Kansas City Chiefs at 4:05 today. Despite Belichick, it will probably not be a pretty sight. Postponed until later, I don't know the exact time, the Falcons will play the Packers. Okay, that's it, that's all I know.
I can't post my Week 4 wins/losses yet because I've got the Packers over the Falcon and they're sometime before midnight -- hopefully. It'll be interesting to see what happens -- how many games can they shuffle around when players or coaches come down with Covid. The league is saying all the play-offs will be in a bubble, which makes a lot of sense.
Still warm here, but not brutal, high of 75 degrees today and yea! very good air quality, which means, yes, yes, yes, a walk -- no hike yet, but at least walking.
Work on VORTEX -- Olivia and Savich really get into it today -- Who is Olivia? How about this -- she's a CIA operative.
Everyone, butts outside -- in Arizona, shorts -- everywhere else, maybe a sweater -- move, people, if you don't, you'll become Lot's Wife or Husband.

Sunday, 4th October -- Okay, one final time due to any lingering confusion: The Week 4 match-ups and my picks are:
1) Bears over Colts
2) Packers over Falcons
3) Bucs over Chargers
4) Saints over Lions
To date, I'm: 9-7 (this includes the Thursday nite game -- thanks, Jets.
Lovely walk in what we call Blackie's Pasture yesterday after The Cantina -- it's right on the Bay with Belevedere Island on the right and the city straight ahead and Sausalito on the left. I took a couple of photos, but alas, they didn't turn out well at all. Okay, they sucked a big one. No negative feedback from foot, so YAY!
Yes, wrapping Christmas presents today during football. Here's why I do it. I simply can't sit on the couch and watch football all day and into the night. I have to do something, so wrapping it is -- What do you do while watching? Or are you content to make it your primary focus?
Do you know, there's something about a cheese enchilada, that's nice and hot with cheese melted all over the place and you cut off a bite and you slowly raise it to your open mouth, slide it in, and take a quick flight to your happy place.
Good air quality here today -- fires are being contained, but it's a slow slog -- more acres burned in many of the counties are the largest in California history. Sigh -- well, it's 2020.
I prognosticated a couple of years ago that we'd have a return to the clothes fashion of the 1920s when 2020 hit -- you know, flappers, adorable short dresses, no more corsets, petticoats, long dresses, no more long hair -- and also a return to the Charleston. What fun that would have been. SIGH --
Today, if you're not wrapping Christmas presents or watching football, what are your plans? Some good friends walk around the malls, some walk around the block and some walk to the Chardonnay. How about you? What's up?

Saturday, 3rd October -- Okay, WEEK 4 -- NFL: right now, I'm 9-6.
I) Patrots over Chiefs
2) Packers over Falcons -- Monday night football game
3) Bucs over Chargers
4) Saints over Lions
Get your picks in -- and Halloween photos, please.
Today we have moderate air quality, so it's another flat walk, maybe 1/2 mile, we'll see.
And big wonderful experience -- The Cantina for lunch.
Do something a bit different today, something that will make someone in your family very happy. A kid, a sister, a mom, a dad? Come on, think, what can you do. The world is rather tough at present, so light up someone's world for a little bit.

Friday, 2nd October -- yes, it's now October, no way around it. Please, everyone, post TWO Halloween photos for the contest, don't forget.
WEEK 4 NFL -- match-ups
l) Bucs over Chargers
2) Saints over Lions
3) Patriots over Chiefs
4) Packers over Falcons
I'll post again tomorrow morning.
Well, I go into week 4 with a 0-1 -- Now I know why I've never picked the Jets to win anything although it was an exciting game, but I've rarely seen such pitiful defensive control as with the Jets -- so many penalties. About half of us went with the Jets -- sorry, guys to start off on a negative foot.
Monday night was supposed to be the Steelers/Titans. Given the Covid in Tennessee, there won't be a game -- I wonder what they'll do. If anyone knows, holler.
Work today and then a WALK -- yep, still flat, still short -- the high today is supposed to be 83 degrees.
I just asked Alexa about the air quality. Well, since the fires are raging in the Napa area, our air quality is bad today -- so I guess no walk, sigh.
Everyone, please give me some minutes -- Don't forget when you're walking/hiking/singing/jogging -- SBB!!!!! and wave to people, say hi -

Thursday, 1st October -- Okay guys, I want to see Halloween photos, preferably inside -- Have a blast and post a maximum of TWO photos for our contest.
Tonight, WEEK 3 1/2 -- NFL football -- take your pick, write it down. This is a tough one, so you'll have to go with your gut -- Broncos versus the Jets. Both teams are 0-3, both teams are 4th in their respective divisions. I'm going with the Jets. Why, you ask? Because I've never in my adult life picked them for anything and why not now? It's 2020, that's why. I'll post the 4 match-ups for WEEK 4 tomorrow.
Walked a bit yesterday, again, flat ground, maybe l/3 of a mile. Foot not happy, but okay now. Sigh.
When you're out and about today, walking with purpose and going a goodly distance, please send me maybe 50 steps, that'd be great.
VORTEX is coming smartly along -- Olivia is in very deep caca --and now Savich is just about ready to jump into the caca with her --
It's going to be around 80 degrees here today, which, yes, I consider hot but bearable. And while I'm hot, you guys are really cooling off. Bring out those sweaters and I'll put on my shorts..

Wednesday, 30th September. Nearly good-bye forever, September, 2020 -- which is probably a relief to everyone. I keep hoping (unrealistically, I know) that the new year will bring back sanity and normality. Anyway, all digits crossed.
YEA -- I took my first walk in over three weeks yesterday -- flat, no stress,, down at Cavallo Point (I posted an incredible photo of the Golden Gate, but alas, it's not showing itself) maybe l/2 mile, then foot started protesting. But you know what? NOTHING since -- huge thumbs up -- another walk today -- so all digits crossed.
The wildfires near Napa still aren't contained -- prayers this way, please.
8 virus positives with Titans. -- and the talking heads are acting like this is totally unexpected and what to do, and it isn't fair and so on. I can't believe the NFL doesn't have all sort of contingencies when they KNEW this was very likely to happen. We'll see. The Titans facility is closed down until Saturday -- they are 3-0 and they're supposed to play the Steelers on Sunday -- also 3-0 -- What would you do? What would be fairest, do you think?
A rain dance would be appreciated. So while you're out walking/hiking/skipping -- stop and face West and put on the moves. Thank you in advance.

Tuesday, 29th September -- Yesterday was 95 degrees and today it was supposed to drop to 84. But you know what happened? The fog started rolling in through the Golden Gate, and now the high will be 75, which is very tolerable, thank you very much.
Can you imagine, you have two little kids, three cats, and you're alerted, evacuate. You see flames about 100 yards away. It's past midnights, the kids are upset, you have to get the cats into carriers, pack up what you need, and get out. A dear friend of mine had these people come to her house plus three others. Then the electricity was out all day yesterday and it was nearly 100 degrees up where she lives. Counts your blessings and pray that this year -- 2020-- will just go away and take all the bad juju with it.
Maybe a little walk today, on flat ground, down at Cavallo Point -- keep your digits crossed.
All of you like my Halloween photos -- now it's time for you to decorate and send me photos of what you've done for Halloween, okay?
Walk today, folk, SBB, swinging arms (although you do feel rather stupid -- it's still good, maybe just for thirty seconds at a time when no one's looking.
VORTEX is getting wilder -- YEA!

Monday, 28, September -- First things first:
Football, Week 3: I was 3-1 --- Bucs, Steelers and Patriots won and the Arizona Cardinals let me down. BOO. To date I'm 8-5 (Be sure to count in Thursday night football games)
Well, I'm going to whine, why not? It's going to be 97 degrees here in Sausalito today -- 5 miles north, it'll be 100 degrees. Tomorrow, though it'll drop to 82. Phew!!! This happens every single year and still it comes as a shock -- go figure.
We have more fires in Napa -- prayers please, coming fast west. Our air quality is still moderate, thankfully.
Gym today, no outside, simply too hot.
How about you guys? Can you put on a jacket (since it's Fall everywhere but HERE and head on out for a brisk walk/hike/salsa?

Halloween's coming up fast, the day the zombies burst out of the ground and terrify the crap out of us, not to mention eat our candy and eat our brains.
Update on BOMBSHELL, the 17th FBI Thriller: I'm nearly finished with the edit. The cover is very cool, explodes with eye-popping color. BOMBSHELL is set in Maestro, Va., (the setting of the 10th FBI thriller, POINT BLANK) and in Washington.
JEWEL OF THE LION (first thriller in A Brit in the FBI series partnered with J.T. Ellison). JEWEL moves fast and you don't know what's going to happen on the next page, and you're biting your toenails or a zombie's toenails. J.T. is an excellent plotter and that means when we brainstorm no plot gets left behind.
Alas, no kids want candy enough to crawl up our oxygen-deprived steep driveway, and the sad thing is, I still have a big bowl of candy, every year, but no one comes, not even the zombies with brain bags.
Take care, Catherine
