August 29, 2020

Saturday, 29th August -- I'm so pleased I put up the supine tree photo in Black and White -- creepy and amazing -- Sorry, I'm not going to write a horror book with it as the cover -- nope, no way, that's Dean Koontz territory.
We're all nice and cooled off, perfect Sausalito weather for August -- the high today, I heard from Alexa, will be 70 degrees, YEA!
Lunch at The Cantina -- I do hope they have outdoor heaters, but even a taco eaten while wearing a leather jacket outside can't be beat. Yep, hiked again yesterday, and will after the Cantina today -- The "Octopus Trail" is in Mill Valley, off another trail, off another trail, that is really quite spectacular, deep in a primeval forest -- I'll take some photos, see if they're good enough to post. You just never can tell. Ah, but that tree that had been uprooted for goodness knows how long and still green and healthy -- and then in black and white -- amazing.
Who's seen a good movie or has a series to recommend? I'm really all out. I usually find the Brit series to be incredibly dark with the focus on evil -- they ain't much fun to watch.
What is Hurricane Laura doing now?
Whatever you do this very fine beautiful day, do it with enthusiasm and a jaunty step -- yep, get out there and talk to people -- everyone needs other people -- you will be rewarded.

August 28, 2020

Incredible Friday, 28th August -- Do you know if you don't hike for a week, you turn into a lump of aches and unhappy muscles? 3 miles, but hey, it was mostly flat as opposed to crawling up some dumb hill. Am I whining? Yes, I can see your nods. Okay, that's not good -- moving right along. Fires more contained than not, air quality still good. it's going to be a high of 68 degrees today, lots of fog, so that's a huge help. Those of you in LA, tell me what Laura's done, the newscasters are all over the board. I'd like to have it from the horse's (or mare's) mouth.
VORTEX is really moving right along now, three chapters until I finish up on the first big plot -- I'm a happy camper, even have the first sentence of the next chapter ready to come typing madly out of my fingers.
Going to take a hiking break until Saturday, let the muscles stop their complaints because, and I'll admit, I'm a conscientious guardian of those parts that keep me going.
Think a moment now -- what am I going to do today to make my eyes smile over my mask? Part of the answer has to be to get out there and see people, and say hi and compliment their dog, make a joke about nature in 2020 how she wants us to wake up and smell the roses and stop stomping on the planet.
Don't forget, always, SBB!!!!! And when you walk, 1) swing your arms, 2) up and down, slapping your hands together over your head as you walk, or 3) roll your arms -- straight out, forward and backward. and let those gorgeous eyes of your smile --

August 27, 2020

Thursday, 27th August -- Coming down to the end of August -- I swear this has now become (for me) the shortest month so far -- how about you? Has it just steamrolled by for you and your family?
Those of you impacted by Laura -- know that all digits are crossed, multitudinous prayers are flying your way.
Our fires here are slowly being contained, last I heard, about 30 percent, which means the air quality is much better here where I live. Today is the first hike in a week.
Many of you have told me you have smoke in SD -- well those, I assume, are from the Colorado fires.
We're all slogging along, chins and spirits up, smiles in places behind our masks and fill that glass half FULL. I didn't realize until yesterday that I now clearly see smiles in people's eyes -- no mouth needed. That's a lovely thing. So smile people, your eyes tell people you're here and you're fine and you hope they're fine and let's share stories.
Do not ask what else can happen in 2020 -- it might give nature ideas, she'll say, hey, that's a good idea.

August 26, 2020

Wednesday, 26th August -- All of you who tuned into Facebook last night to watch the virtual fun time between Brenda Novak and me -- thank you -- it was lots of fun. What was cool was actually signing books to some of you watching -- all in all, I hope you enjoyed yourselves. I do think that virtual book signings are the wave of the future, gone is all the traveling from place to place -- but I have to admit, touring was lots of fun, meeting readers, hoping always people would show up for the signings.
A newscaster reported there was a meteor coming toward earth but there was only an infinitesimal chance it would hit. Then he shook his head, said, "On the other hand, it is 2020."
Again, no hiking today, smoke still heavy in the air. As I told you, they can smell it in Idaho -- But hen the wind is off the ocean, though, it's gorgeous clean air. Please keep prayers coming west, and of course, there's the hurricane heading to Galveston as I type.
A friend in Australia emailed to tell me the Phase 2 testing on the covid vaccine shows no severe side effects -- I want to know what is meant by "severe", like, your head doesn't explode? You don't start bleeding from your ears? I'll let you know when I get an answer back. Vaccine testing is now happening all over the globe -- we'll get there --
Everyone, if you aren't worrying about the hurricane or a fire or smoke -- then get your mask in place and get out there and WALK and don't forget to send me a couple of minutes, okay? Be sure and clap your hands over your head a dozen or so times as you walk --

August 25, 2020

Tuesday, 25th August --
VORTEX -- the scene I mentioned to you yesterday, it ROCKS -- it really works, and what a smack to the head -- today it gets edited.
Still hazy smoke filling the sky here -- supposedly there's a little more containment of all the fires -- Everyone send prays not only here and to Colorado, but to New Orleans, last I heard Laura is on her way.
Mother Nature -- forgive us, forgive us, we'll try to do better. (I made this promise from all of us so don't make me a liar)
Everyone, get out there and move around, maybe do that sidewalk skip you did as a kid, maybe take a couple of friends, and to to a neighbor's house and sing Christmas Carols -- that'll put a smile on everyone's face.
Don't forget -- you're back to my Facebook page tonight at 6:00 p.m. California time --

August 24, 2020

Monday, 24th August -- Okay, guys, don't forget -- Tuesday, at 6:00 pm CAL TIME -- come here and I'm supposed to magically appear on your screen. Magic is a marvelous thing, isn't it? I keep wondering if it will work ---

Still very smoky here today -- fires everywhere. I haven't heard about the hurricanes -- let me know what's going on there.

VORTEX -- got the greatest idea for the second to last big scene -- digits crossed it works as well as I picture it.

Is everyone ready for another great day -- you never know what could happen, what you could make happen. Think about being the subject -- what can you do do make someone's day spectacular, just a little something, like cookies or donuts or TACOS -- all right, all right -- give it a dollop of thought, I am -- got lots of stuff going on, seeing people, wearing really tight masks -- after all my excitement here, I will take some chocolate chip cookies to a neighbor who isn't doing well, okay, that's my something. How about you?

Do not forget, during this extraordinary time, it's incumbent on your to keep your bod as fine-tuned as you can, last thing you want is a visit to the hospital, so keep strong and flexible -- lots of walking, climbing up and down stairs (SBB, of course) -- And while you walk, up and down with your arms, clap them at the top of the arc -- how many times can you do this?

August 22, 2020

Saturday, 22nd August -- Thank you for all your good thoughts and prayers flowing into California and Colorado. The air quality is still very bad, so it's best to stay inside. And the hurricanes -- I guess Mother Nature must be really pissed with us, for whatever reason -- or maybe she wants to compete with the virus. I gotta say, she's doing a fine job.
No hikes this week, simply not smart not to breathe in the crappy smoky air so I'm running up and down stairs, peddling on my bike, doing free weights and on the "magic" everything machine..
Those of you who are not in the path of fires or hurricanes or floods, please check in and cheer us all up. Also, you might want to give those of us closed-in a couple minutes of your walk/hike/exercise -- every minute from you is a blessing.

If you're in a sweet spot, get outside and BB!Q -- with potato salad and potato chips (yep, both, yummy) and maybe baked beans -- you add crispy bacon, two dollops of sweet relish and green onions -- be still my heart -- with a dressing of vinegar, mustard, a bit of catsup -- Yes, I'm sitting here drooling thinking about those baked beans, (Campbells pork n beans make the best, I've found) My mom came up with this a very long time ago.

We will get through all this crap -- we're strong and positive and fun-loving -- can't beat that --

August 21, 2020

Friday, 21st August -- I humbly request your presence on Tuesday, the 25th here at my house , in my office, at 6:00 p.m. -- California time -- for a fun conversation between me and Brenda Novak. It's so easy -- You simply come to my Facebook fan page and at 6:00 I'll magically appear. How, I have no idea. I think fairy dust is somehow involved. There are only 500 hundred Fair Boxes -- $75 -- (includes DEADLOCK and Brenda Novak's latest, plus four other authors as well, and all sorts of cool goodies) Let me apologize in advance, but on Monday evening there won't be refreshments provided. I know, that's a drawback, and I can see your lip turned down, but what can I do? You, however, can munch on chips and guacamole while watching and laughing --
Prayers, please -- send directly to Colorado and California -- right now the sky is a sort of milky white from the smoke and smoke's in the air, which means, of course, no going outside unless you absolutely have to. Things aren't good here -- to the north, to the south, to the east -- the west is still okay -- digits crossed.
What will you do today on this amazing Friday -- well, it's amazing, hopefully, where you live. Walk for me, okay? Send me two minutes, that'd be great.
I hope everyone got the August Newsletter -- you'll see all the information/links you need to buy a State Fair Box -- and Brenda and I will be personally autographing books during the laugh-fest --

August 20, 2020

Thursday, 20th August -- Remember I told you about the "dry" lightning early Sunday a.m.? Well, there were about 10,000 strikes and now we have 800 fires. North or us and south of us. As you can imagine the air quality is pretty bad here. If you happen to look west, please say a little prayer.

Work today, as always, and VORTEX is coming along nicely, but slowly.
No hiking today because of the bad air quality --

If you didn't get my AUGUST NEWSLETTER -- please (1) go to CatherineCoulter.com and sign up -- that's easiest -- or (2) email me at ReadMoi@com and I'll email it to you. Hope you enjoy it. If you don't, you really don't have to say anything to anyone.
Don't forget to come to Facebook on Tuesday, the 25th -- at 6:00 p.m. CALIFORNIA TIME - I'll be having a talk fun-fest with Brenda Novak and signing DEADLOCK. I'll give you exact info tomorrow.
Be mellow today -- that's the way I woke up. There was Eli talking at the top of his lungs about how he was starving and my very first thought was "it'll be a mellow day." Pass it along, stay content and busy and stand in front of your bathroom mirror and do arm rolls -- bad bat wings, bad bat wings.

August 19, 2020

Wednesday, 19th August -- The August Newsletter -- you should be getting it today or tomorrow --
I gave you WRONG information, well not exactly wrong, but mostly wrong. The Grayson Sherbrooke novellas are bundled -- the first three -- ON AUDIO. The first three novellas in ebook will be bundled very shortly. I'll let you know exactly when.
Thank you for all your wonderful comments about the photos -- particularly the ones yesterday of the ocean from the cliffs above and the beach with all the happy people and swimmers and surfers -- and yes, there were like family groups -- good social distancing.
Are you drinking a cup of coffee/tea/vodka as we speak? Are you thinking about what you're going to do today, like, more cleaning out of twenty years of detritus in your overloaded closets? Those 20-year-old shirts calling to you? Then, after virtue, how about a nice swim -- pool, ocean, YMCA -- community pool -- so many places -- and it's such good exercise -- swim those laps, move those legs dog paddling -- all right, I'll stop nagging --
Did anyone see my Tuesday post? I cannot find it --
