Ok, this book surprised me. It totally lagged for a long stretch. I'm glad I stuck it out. Nice little surprises written with a nice finesse.

ugh. This is turning into a lesbian YA angst-fest. Fanfic-ish.

This book starts out good! After 3 DNF's in a row, I'm so happy to pick up a page-turner.
Although, I do love representation... This one is feeling a little too "woke".. like it's woke for the sake of being woke. As long as it doesn't detract from the story though.. fingers crossed.

Quite boring so far. Why is this rated so highly? Guess I'll see.

I take that back. Jacques is not someone i would like to know. But the character is written so well! There are aspects where he's a terrible person, and other aspects where he's admirable.

My God. What I wouldn't give now to send a Jacques back to my younger self.

Phew this book gets REALLY boring after 60%.

After the normal suspension of disbelief for this story of a video game extending life there are way too many logical errors. The errors make this story clumsy and clunky.

Fun story. But. There are so many little things that just do not make any sense. It's as if the author couldn't remember if he was writing a fantasy or a litrpg.

I love the prose technique. Tons of dialog and action, diary & documentary style. Bigfoot, though, is a bit of a boring subject.

Very YA'ish.

This story is so interesting! I love it.
Although it's making me dumb, because this is a big fat obvious metaphor, right? I just don't know what the metaphor is yet.. so it's making me feel dumb.

This is a really talented narrator!

Something surprisingly refreshing. A woman character, Kivi, that isn't smart, beautiful, and gracious. She's realistically frustrated and unintelligent. In this day and age, it's nice to see realistic characters be written into sci-fi books.

Nice fast plot so far. Funny characters!

I've read quite a few of Taylor's books now to know that she has a habit in her prose that is hard for me to follow. A very impactful plot element will happen almost as if it's hindsight. So after a few sentences / a paragraph later, I'm all like "whoa wait, what did I just read." There's not a lot of build up to the major elements. Perhaps trying to keep readers engaged?

Do authors realise they don't have to use the letter writing plot device for a whole book? This book can literally switch at any point in this story and is in desperate need of that. although I am really enjoying the story just not the device.

So done. I want it over. The stories are good, but it's 5 books work of reading here! I'm missing out on so many other books.

Sanderson's accessible prose is so appreciated... especially in such an incredibly LONG book.

Finally! Lol. Chapter 8 is a slow burn.

Got used to the unusual prose style, and freaky starting to enjoy the story. I feel a small dread that something bad will happen to one of the main characters soon, though.

Really love the way Wong writes characters.

Such an amazingly fun quest fantasy. Old tropes breathed with new life. So good.
