Maybe some world of warcraft and final fantasy 7 references...

I love this series so much. This book is no exception.

I'm not taking it too seriously, but this author is really over-anthropomorphizing an alien species. Over and over. Each time it's just a little tiny bit annoying... because I feel like there's so much space to write these aliens in, yet they're basically humans in different bodies.

Fun story so far!

There is something annoying. Every plot arc is driven by a character keeping a secret from another character. This book would be 10 pages long if it weren't for all these characters' secrets.

Always funny reading a book that sets the trope originally... it's like reading a distilled version of the cliches that I've read a million times. Hard to get around that filter a bit. But still very enjoyable setup so far.

Man.. Scalzi always brings the lgbt representation. So much appreciated.

Not an exciting book in any sense.

This is insanely boring.

So, is this going to get intense... or even suspenseful?

Or am I just going to keep reading about an abused girl's coming of age story?

2nd half got really fun. I wish the other books in the series were already out.

This author has definitely played world of Warcraft, and I'm so here for it.

So childish, but with a good message. Only finishing since it's so short.

DNF'd. The writing is so cartoon-ish and childish. Maybe it's good and just didn't hit me at the right time.

So much conversations. So much exposition. Agh. I really want to DNF it at 75%.

Weird time jumps. So weird that I keep checking if my audibook has errors.

And just like that, I moved into James McCavoy fanboy status.

The whole part where he captures the female protagonist, and he found she shaved her beaver and painted her nipples.

Like what the hell was that lol. I think we took a quick detour through the author's fantasyland! Very funny, a little out of place, and gladly not too many pages devoted to it.

I really enjoy a litrpg occasionally. The Russian litrpg's always seem so much more fun. This one definitely is a fun read.

Keeps jumping between scifi and contemporary fiction. I enjoy the scifi elements.

Boyinda is so well written. I love her quips.

These characters are so well written. The author is either skilled in research or familiar with old English grammar.

The group has settled in to the Dane hall and the story seems to have hit the brakes hard. It was so interesting up until now.

Now we're just taking about matches and marriages like a teenage girl slumber party.

So it's cum magic instead of blood magic? Does that make him a warcock instead of a warlock?

This is breathing new life into well tread songs for me: Girl, Pancake.

And giving life to newer songs that i never gave a chance: Bang, Shattering Sea.

It's not wonderful. The characters are very wooden with unbelievable dialog. However, the story has me totally intrigued. Can't wait to read the climax.

Oh and the main protagonist's book is described as Fear, but it's about bravery according to him.

I suspect ego being the main theme here is right.

A man's ego can be wonderful and destructive. I think this book will be about the male ego.

DNF at 70%.

The story is monotonous. For a mystery, there's not enough clues for me to latch onto.
