Something almost happened. I remember getting a little excited. Bit I was just failed attempt to build tension.

Failed.

Literally. Literally nothing had happened yet. 40% in. Nothing.

There's a lot of rebound for me, between the timelines.

The author doesn't give me enough time with the characters in each timeline to properly connect with their older selves. Sadly it makes it so I really don't care about any of them. However, when the author lets the dialog roll, he really nails it in a good way.

Hoping this will pick up.

What's the point here?

Nope.

This story is fucking BORING.

What the fuxk is the point here.

It's just a story of a closeted married father. No urgency, no message, no struggle, just a bland story.

So far this is a one star read.

Ah. Unrequited infatuation of 18-20 year olds... Very familiar with these feelings of torture.

Oh I really love finding the gay protagonist books I added to my TBR list so long ago... And randomly starting to read them... it's like an awesome little present from my past self- and the author ofc.

This is a fun and unique mystery novel. But the plot is completely blunted by the omission of male characters. It just makes it seem very odd and off putting.

This book has like no men. Wtf.

Whoa wait a minute! Is Seymour (the gun kid) actually the father of Konstance (the girl on the generation ship)?

Of damnit.. just got to the letter from the British soldier/lover... He's gone back, and confirmed the love is unreciprocated. That part crushed me. So sad.

Love Doerr's prose.

Really need to pay attention to this book. No drifting off. But it's worth it! This is a fascinating read so far.

This book is sort of almost like an homage to the scorch trials, which i did enjoy. There are aspect sof this plot that i'm loving.

An alternate title for this book would be "A dysfunctional family bakering at each other endlessly."

This reads like a YA. But the tags on goodreads say adult....

I'm 5.25 hours into the audiobook, and I don't know the premise of your story yet. Cut that slow burn shit out.

Slow start compared to Stephenson other books.

I'm really really enjoying Max Barry books right now.

I find it very cool that after a lifetime of reading fiction, I still accidentally find authors whose art I jive with so well.

Oh so apparently this story is based on another classic book. That really explains why this premise/plot is really great, but the prose fails badly.

Oh this is a really great premise! Such a cool story. Such inadequate storytelling! That's really a massive shame.

The story is weird but that's OK I like weird. It's the story telling method that just is so annoying.

Does anyone actually prefer this writing style over others? This claustrophobic, detail-sparse, time-skipping style? Such a way to tell a story leaves the reader, me at least, confused. And it's not the type of confused that can be fun to fill in the gaps... it's too much.

ok 3rd time starting this book. Couldn't pick up the thread the first 2 times for some reason.

Got it now, and it seems like a very neat premise. Happy I stuck with it.
