Forgot to update on Ch. 24. Gonna have to go back through and remind myself what that even was; Ch. 25 has been to a weird start that I’m not sure I’m into lol

Climax going well so far. Only an hour and a half left; will be finishing this this weekend for sure.

Finished Part Two. This last part has been set up quite well, and I'm looking forward to seeing what the climax has to offer.

I like plenty of the ideas on display here. It's not just a swashbuckling Star Wars adventure, there's a lot of smaller-scale problems being explored with just the right weight added to make them all combine into a potential disaster of magnanimous proportions.

Some intriguing ideas are being introduced here. Starting to see where/how this series is gonna end up several books long :D

Wasn't really expecting direct Nihil POV scenes, but that was still pretty neat. I'm looking forward to seeing what more happens with this Elphrona stuff.

Honestly, had no idea what this was about going in. Pretty good so far - not as gripping as Andromeda Strain though.

Also giving me deja vu and flashbacks because I feel like one of the topics of one of these chapters was just talked about in my Infinite Jest reading this past weekend, but I can't tell if that's just me being crazy or not.

Seeing a bit of the political influence in the aftermath of the Hetzal affair is quite cool. Good set-up here in the start of Part 2 for the rest of the book, especially after that interlude in-between parts 1 and 2.

The last 10 pages of Ch. 24 kinda went off the rails a bit, but the chapter was overall really good.

Started this on audio on a whim with a couple other buddies for a mini-readalong.

God I love Star Wars. And although I don't count the new canon in my head personally...this is pretty damn fun.

And a lot easier than Infinite Jest LMAO

Part I: pretty good. Not sure I like that I’m liking this one a bit, but such is the way of McCarthy 🙃

So far, just as damn good as I remembered.

Ch. 22 was good thought provoking stuff!

First 1/3 was Eschaton stuff; seemed irrelevant except in how things unraveled near the end, but was entertaining nonetheless!
The rest was basically all AA meeting stuff - written very well, and quite thought provoking!

Finished Joshua up. Some good stuff in this one - more than the last couple books imo. Tho still kind of a lot to take in.

Old Testament is very difficult tbh lol

Aight. So. Ch. 20 was great. SO MUCH political stuff, giving little snippets and hints and answers and questions to the AFR and other Canadian anti-O.N.A.N shit, plus a 20 page endnote of another great Hal-and-Orin call, plus a tiny bit more of the Marathe and Steeply at the end; at last, another chapter where the whole thing was fantastic and didn't just break my brain entirely. Oh some fun revelations on Mario too.

I swear every chapter now is halfway incredible and halfway flying-over-my-head 😂

Ch. 20 had great material with Orin’s post-ETA sports life, but also some stuff with some strange withdrawling (not a word but you know what I mean) addict that hinted at a previous segment of the book but not explicitly enough to know what it means yet 🤔

Chapter 18? Incredible. Another call between Orin and Hal, done to great effect, reveal a lot about their father and Hal’s mental state.

Chapter 19? Halfway incredible. The tennis stuff was super fun; was hoping the whole thing would be that. The Ennet House stuff was more meh to actually read.

Not sure how I fee so far tbh. I’m thinking this is sitting in a similar place as ATPH - some stuff I like a decent bit (certain scenes or interactions) while the rest I like more in theory and don’t really connect to.

Part One down. Not sure what to think yet. Some interesting stuff tho at least

Welp. Basically coming up on the final stretch :D

Most of the way through Ch. 16. First few pages were ROUGH yesterday, but overall, easier going than the last couple chapters at thus point lol

Only 3 chapters + the Epilogue left now. Ironically, for as otherworldly as this book has been, it has also felt the most grounded in a sensical "reality" of the trilogy XD

Perhaps that's part of why it's working for me a lot more than the first 2.

Okay, apprehension about that 1 chapter that wasn't really working for me has reversed. Thoroughly enjoying this once again.
