King Crusoe > Recent Status Updates

Huge progress today, which I’m glad for. Everything has still been great. Even the POV I was less stoked on for awhile had some gnarly things happen.

Book has been nonstop aside from one POV that is dragging a tony bit. So book.

Relatively little progress last few due to work and personal life matters. Should still finish by end of this weekend I think.

Halfway through now, just 3 days.

Bonkers pacing for me.

I genuinely don't understand how this book is so much better than Malice in literally every way. All of the same things, just all...better!

Damn nearly 1/3 of the way through in just 2 mornings somehow…

I am loving this book rn man. I have virtually no complaints at all.

Read just a little extra tonight. I wish I didn’t get so tired reading at bedtime.

I went into this SUPER dubious. It's been over a year since I read Malice, which I was incredible mixed on...

100 pages into Valor, and I'm LOVING it. It has already been enough to convert me. There is no one more surprised by this than me. I read 100 pages in one morning; I don't do that kind of thing. I so hope this means I'll love the rest of the series. :D

After 2 months, the rough drafts to my reviews for McCarthy's "The Passenger" and "Stella Maris" are complete. They will undergo revision next week and soon thereafter be abridged and posted. (The full version are too long for Goodreads, so only the spoiler-free sections will end up here.)

The full versions will be turned into a video for YouTube, to be posted in November.

Book Seven done now too. Definitely enjoyed this part more than most. The Black Tower Interlude was a bit much though to be honest.

Plenty of stuff I haven’t loved, but also plenty of good stuff too.

Read a LOT today. I’m exhausted. Might somehow manage to finish tomorrow.

Book Three has been a bit of a struggle, I confess. Definitely a little fever dreamy to me, but maybe coming back around at this point now, idk.

Gotten a large chunk knocked out today so far. Book is definitely enjoyable. Still some question marks, but I'm liking it.

Charming and intriguing start. Looking forward to more.

One For the Road: Amazing story with great narration and atmosphere. Ties to ‘Salem’s Lot were great. Should have been the last story in the collection to reflect on “Jerusalem’s Lot” being the first. 5/5

The Woman in the Room: Nothingburger at best. Did nothing, said nothing, meant nothing. Should not have been the end of the collection at all. 2/5

I Know What You Need: Another amazing story with a meh climax. 4.5/5

Children of the Corn: Good ideas that needed 2-3 times more pages to breathe. 3/5

The Last Rung on the Ladder: Brilliant. Beautiful. Haunting. I’m depressed. 6/5 [sic]

The Man Who Loved Flowers: Adorable! Until it wasn’t. A good story I disliked. 3.5/5

Sometimes They Come Back: Climax wasn't fully for me, but it felt like a full novel condensed into 30 pages. Great.

- Solid, very good atmosphere and engaging despite a predictable climax.

Night Surf: 3/5.
- Good story, good concept (I think a precursor to The Stand), but didn't have enough substance, nor likable characters.

I Am the Doorway: 1.5/5
- Frankly, not a good story. I could see some of the ideas being interesting, but I have never been this bored with King before.

Absolutely love this book through and through. My complaints are so few and so non-severe. Fantastic.
