King Crusoe > Recent Status Updates

Making my way through Part 1 and I'm enjoying it so far. The Prologue was strangely awesome. So many questions that I'm excited to explore in this book!

Finished Volume II. Much, much better than Volume I, and I'm actually surprisingly engrossed in the drama. Glad that I'm finally sucked into the book, and looking forward to Volume III.

Finished Volume I, and a few chapters into Volume II. Definitely enjoying it more than I was before. Unfortunate that the first 2/3 of Volume I was so hard to push through, but I into it now.

Not gonna lie...it's going slow so far. Not really clicking so far this early on, but I hope to see it improve.

Aight, finished The Wind Through the Keyhole, the story within Roland's story "The Skin Man." The last 50 pages definitely wrapped a LOT of things up in a way I didn't think it would/could in as short a time as it did. I really liked it. I wondered wth the point was for a while, but there are some nice nods to what's surely to come. Can't wait to finish the whole thing tonight or tomorrow.

Only about 60 pages left in the Title Story. Looking to be able to finish that today if I have time. We shall see.

About halfway through the story that younger Roland is telling what's his bucket...it's interesting and different, but a little difficult to get into in some other ways. We'll see when I finally get through the last 100 pages of the story-within-a-story-within-a-story.

Finished The Skin-Man, Part 1.

The first person for this backstory compared to the third person of Wizard and Glass does a lot to differentiate the two, which I'm glad for. Still feels a little weird, but I love the high-key horror elements in it so far. Time to see what the story within a story within a story "Wind Through the Keyhole" is about.

Just finished the first part of the book. It feels weird to have this sort of "journey for a short time" preceding Roland sitting down and saying "here's this story I want to tell you," but W&G was so good that I honestly don't care; besides, I knew ahead of time that this book is another flashback, so it's fine.
Otherwise, very nice change of pace from W&P, and much faster

All of Volume II done.

What the hell man.

I'm depressed.

Volume II, Part IV done. Probably my favorite part of the book so far. Loved spending so much time with the Rostov's uninterrupted.

Volume II, Part III done. I think I like the Peace portions better than the War portions. More interactions with my favorite characters (which mostly aren't the soldiers at this point in the story.)

Volume II, Part II done. Very happy to see Pierre make heavy appearance in most of this part!

Done with Genesis and Exodus so far. The whole story of Joseph from Genesis was surprisingly compelling, and the main tale of Exodus (Moses, the Pharoah, and the Jewish slaves) is f**king BRUTAL. Definitely caught me by surprise.

2/5 of the way through the Torah, and no intention of stopping soon.

Volume II, Part I done.

The fact that Daniel Wilson has a PhD in Robotics specifically makes one of the characters and the equipment of said character pretty interesting in the story. As a sequel, it has added several elements that are interesting, even if story execution doesn't fully match that of Crichton's.

Doesn't start off quite as interesting as Crichton's original novel, but so far I'd say it's a serviceable sequel. Let's see if it keeps that up.

Done with Volume 1. Super excited to read Volume 2 this month! (The prose of the Briggs translation is insanely good!)
