My time spent reading the past week or two has been abysmal lmao

Pace isn’t so breakneck as Valor seemed to be, but I’m thoroughly invested in each storyline even still.

Read nearly twice as many pages today as yesterday, which feels great!

Tension starting to mount in a couple new places that I’m excited to see the consequences of.

Didn't read nearly as much as I hoped to this morning, but it's definitely off to a good start :D

Nina is such a great character.

Also I love that this volume keeps introducing characters who come off immediately sus but then makes us some manner of sympathetic to them, unsure of whether we should be or not until they pick a lane. Makes for some tense reading.

Read the first 3 chapters of this volume last night. Great new character introduction. Liking the slight changes to certain elements that is keeping this extended build-up fresh.

Just a few chapters left.

Slower going all of a sudden this week (my reading, not the book). I will still finish by end of next Monday.

Good progress again today.

Book is banging tbh. The theological stuff and magical stuff and character dynamics intermixed are all very very good.

Read the equivalent of the first original volume last night. Already been a rollercoaster despite it only being 8 out of 162 chapters.

Good, compelling. Only minor complaints so far.

Also my prediction about the reveal in Ch. 8 was right even tho I thought it sounded stupid af before that 😂

The infamous bowls plotline has begun oh noooooo XD

For real though, book is pretty great so far; and after falling behind on the reading for the weekend, I'm now actually ahead on it :D

I’ve been bad at remembering to update this. A few of these recent chapters have been bangers. Pretty monumental happenings despite how relatively lowkey they are.

Okay, Chapter 5 totally shifted my view of Chapter 4. Very good.

Chapter 6...man I really feel for Bill. Such a tragic character in all of the right ways. Flaws and failures, but sympathetic as all get out.

I know I've said I'm on board, but like...I'm ON BOARD now.

Chapters 3-4 went much smoother than 1-2. I'm not sure whether it was because I was in the wrong headspace (personal reasons) or what, but yeah, I'm fully invested now.

I appreciate Butler's use and simultaneous subversion of certain story tropes tho. Fun times.

Chapters 3-4 were just as much bangers as Chapters 1-2 were. The Rand stuff in this book is obviously gonna go SO hard.

Also first Mat POV in Chapter 5. First half was amazing. Back half a little overlong.

First 2 chapters down: hella good.

Read Ch. 2 over last night and this morning. New character and his past are really interesting to me.

Main thing I noticed was how intentionally crafted the prose is between certain hints and just the utility of the words. Butler’s writing isn’t hard to read, but it is dense - no wasted words really - so it is taking me significantly longer to read each page than I anticipated. Unfortunately for me 😂

Totally forgot to add and update reading on this yesterday.

First chapter - as all fantasy books do - was a little overwhelming, but I'm invested in learning a lot more.

Prologue down. Ngl, overhyped Prologue, insofar as "Prologue"-ness is concerned.

Besides the first POV and the last POV, this felt like very standard WoT affairs at this point, so really it was just an extended set-up chapter not unlike the first 2 chapters of TSR (which did not have a Prologue, rightly so in my view).

This could've just been a Chapter 1/2 hahaha. Def not the best Prologue in the series.
