One Hex Too Many - 4.0 Stars

This one was a magical mystery that only had a tiny bit of MM romance at the very end. Like, having an Andes candy after an all-you-can-eat buffet dinner...that tiny. BUT I'm a sucker for a good whodunit, and this was definitely that. I'm not sure I've ever read anything else by Lou, but I'll certainly look through his works for other interesting titles!

"One for the land, one for the sea." Oh no. No no no no no. I seriously hope that my dark thoughts on the fate of Ival's newborn twin is NOT accurate.

Ermygerd, Dom!Ival is sooooo hawt. Holy cow. I only wish he felt that kind of power and confidence without the surge from using sorcery.

Oh, I knew that kind of thing was coming...I hope Griffin can reign him in if Ival were to go all darkside again.

Okay, this one almost did me in. If I were Vic I'd have shat my pants and run screaming from the Clown-Ghost both times. FUCK. THAT. NOISE.

Magically Delicious - 4.2 Stars

HA! I don't think I've ever read anything like this one; I loved the whole set up and Keith's almost bureaucratic - cum - enforcer role. Plus, Gunther. OMG. So original. I will DEFINITELY be checking out The Irregulars if that's the stuff I can expect again!

A Queer Trade - 4.2 Stars

I swear, these Magpie stories are just blowing me away. I'm glad I waited to read this pre-quel to Rag & Bone...

Swift and the Black Dog - 4.1 Stars

The setting and world-building were a little confusing and unfamiliar so it was hard to fully immerse into the story. But OMG the message and symbolism were amazing...

Dim Sum Asylum - 4.5 Stars

JFC, Rhys Ford continually blows me away with the world-building and the 3-dimensional characters. Fuck, I'd love to see a whole series based on this 'verse, and these 2 particular cops.

For being on the Non-Explicit list, this book sure is plenty steamy!

Wait, I can't read this one yet...it might have spoilers for Spook Squad - which I have studiously avoided since I thought it would be the last one. (Don't judge me. I know it's a problem; I waited FIVE YEARS to watch the last 5 eps of Battlestar because the idea of there being no more made me ache. Since there are also no more Cut & Run coming either, I guess I have to suck it up with PsyCop. *heartbreaking*)

Seriously? Out of the whole book the thing that brought me to tears was the new band getting ready to take the stage again, for the first time, together. Gawd. *sniffles*

So, yeah. A coffee shop, decorated like an old gentleman's club, owned by a professor (who speaks 13 languages) & his husband (an investigator) - who are presently in Egypt hunting mummies - & it's called 'Whybornes'? (I had to go back a few minutes because something about that coffee shop made my brain itch. HOLY FUCK, I literally just listened to Necropolis so it didn't click at first. LOL, author incest!)

I really, really, really wish that GRs would stop recommending books that I will never, ever read. I'm so over seeing a rec that, because I finished Tigerland, somehow I'd enjoy Bear, Otter & the Kid pt 2 or 3.

Look GRs: I read the 1st one because of the Members Choice challenge but I refuse to read any more of them. I got over the shock of how it was blatantly Shelter; acquiescence is not approval.
