Corruption (Diversion #3)
Wow, the times - they must be a-changing! Lucky is sitting at a bar in Athens, GA and his server is wearing a Clemson Tigers' baseball cap. I can honest-to-God say that I never, ever saw anyone wearing anything but UGA/Bulldog gear during my entire time at school there (which, though intermittently, spanned almost a decade). Fuck, you had to travel miles just to find a soda fountain that sold Pepsi flavored coke.

I like the distinctive American & British accents voiced by the narrator.

Horizons (Horizons, #1)
I'm gonna put this one on hold for a bit and relegate it back to the TBR shelf; I just finished a closeted jock story that was done so well that all the little things in this that have already irritated me would just be compounded by anything inferior than what I was blown away by in Tigers & Devils.

I honestly cannot figure out who might be the culprit...and considering I'm addicted to all things procedural and have (for the most part) been solving the crime before the first real commercial break (or within the first 1/3 of a book) for DECADES, well, I'm loving that. I LOVE being surprised, having no idea who might have done it or their motive.

Ugh. Satan's a dick. I hate entitled, arrogant assholes that treat employees (aka: "The Help") as beneath them, no better than shit that needs to be wiped from their feet. *stabbity stab*

Oh shit. No way. Now I'm dying to fast-forward to see if Moriarity actually IS supposed to be married, a father and "straight."

LMAO! Holmes' inner dialogue, one-liners and zingers are killing me. I almost choked on my Tang.

Horizons (Horizons, #1)
Ugh. Is it terribly bitchy of me to point out that Clark mentioning his football team (UC Berkeley) going "into the playoffs" is all kinds of wrong? He was "voted 2002 player of the year" which sets this in 2003 & the fucking BCS bullshit wasn't fixed by the Plus-One system (which has actual playoffs) until 2014. Also, UC was fucking 5-5 the 1st wk of Nov which would have NEVER earned them contention. [Football=Life]

Seriously? An "Unsolved Mysteries" aside (Robert Stack does have a God-like voice, damnit) plus a Hot!Boreanaz "Bones" reference. Fandom FTW. I think this is my favorite JL book yet, and that's saying something since I think I've rated them all pretty high. Holmes is a great MC; a bit of a savant plus a whole lot of TSTL...in other words, perfect.

OMG this one is funny! There's usually a dry humor to JL's books (if any) but this one has me LOL quite a bit.

Well, hell. Flesh hates the only decent non-animated holiday movie ever made. I just can't understand people who don't love "A Christmas Story" as much as I do.

*record scratch* I don't know how I missed it every other time but OMFG I cannot STAND IT when people pronounce my state as NeVAHda (with an "a" like "say ah"). For God's sake, it's NevAda (like the "a" in CAT).

Hmmmm...something about Flesh's irritation at Colby not wanting to be "out" doesn't sit well with me. I guess if it were me I'd think he shouldn't have any say in it since they aren't a committed couple. BUT - they are. They just don't have a typical relationship. I like it when a book makes me think about my own boundaries and expectations...

Wow, a mature DTR conversation with honest expectations and concerns. I'm not even mad at Flesh's comment about non-monogamy; that's a viable relationship status for a lot of people and it wasn't hypocritical since he didn't expect it in return. Glad "the rules" will stay in effect; if I were Colby I'd just worry whether he could be more successful at sticking to them with potential tricks.

At first I was thinking that Gabe might have something to do with the murder but now I can't decide if the perp is the asshole (closeted?) cop or Daddy Joe's kid.

I'm kinda digging how unapologetic Flesh is about what he likes when it comes to sex. Kind of an asshole, aggressive, dominant dude...but a total butt slut bottom. Way to invert that trope - I approve.

Okay, wow. There's a whole lotta sexin' here; I just checked the book summary and none of it's even been with the actual love interest yet! Considering the narrator MC, that's probably par for the course but jeez!

Whoo! I went to Georgia State for a year of Law School - it's always cool to hear a detail like that so personally close. Seems like most books with a college setting or reference are for the larger universities...or a completely made up one.
