Eimeriina~, I seem to have quite a few fairly intense books on my list to read next month, so why don't we go with either I Suck at Girls or Strange Bedpersons? I have both on hand, so whichever you prefer would be fine with me. I'm looking forward to it!

Oh, and I'm not totally sure of my timing yet, but definitely not until after the 8th - the first week of July is crazy around my house every year.

I'm glad you liked your picks - I sure had fun making them!

Pollyanna (polly8) | 300 comments Hey Maija here are your picks:

1. Blockbuster Hit - The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger I thought this book was okay but most people I know loved it so I would recommend you give it a try or you could read The Book Thief by Markus Zusak I gave this one a 5 star

2. Tearjerker - My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult A real tearjerker and a brilliant book that really makes you think about choices we have to make.

4. Enduring Classic - To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee a classic and it has been on your shelf the longest, a definite must read.

6. On the Edge of Your Seat… The Lying Game by Sara Shepard a fast paced read that is really exciting, it is a great mystery that will have you suspecting everyone.

Buddy read it is! :) Any preference to when we start the book? I already have my copy so anytime before 21st July is fine with me. ^^
And I do hope you manage to squeeze in Bared to You - I loved every single one of those characters and despite the similar topic to 50 it's still completely different (at least to me) - better writing, more complex, etc. There are some disturbing scenes though, but I didn't mind those since I prefer dark and twisted books rather than cheesy romance. :D

message 220: by Sue (new)

Sue (knitwitsl) | 226 comments Irina,

I had some time today to go through your pile, so here are your recommendations!

1. Blockbuster Hit
I would have recommended the First Fifty Shades book, but I see you have already read the second and third one! Therefore, I’ll go with A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin. I have not read this yet, but everyone I’ve talked to that has really liked it. I do plan on getting it some time in the future and reading it!

2. Tearjerker
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is a very emotional read. It was hard for me to get through the first bit, but once I did I really enjoyed the book.

3. Independent Film
This book is not by a smaller publisher, but I think the author is “lesser known.” But this book, The Spellman Files by Lisa Lutz is a really funny book that I think you would enjoy!

4. Enduring Classic
I was looking through the books that have been on your tbr shelf the longest, and you have Passion Unleashed by Larissa Ione. Since you read the first two last year and really liked them, I think you’ll enjoy getting back into the series and reading this one as well!

5. Sequels, Sequels
You’ve read and enjoyed the first three in the Love at Stakes series, so I think you should read the next one on your tbr shelf, The Undead Next Door by Kerrelyn Sparks.

6. On the Edge of Your Seat…
Grave Witch by Kalayna Price. This may not be as scary as some horror books, but it had me reading through it rather quickly to find out what was going on. Interesting set up for this urban fantasy.

Buddy Reads:

7. Summer Hit

I see that you have Touch the Dark by Karen Chance on your tbr pile. I loved that series and laughed quite a bit throughout. I think you would really enjoy this book, but since I’ve already read it I would not read along with you if you choose this one.

8. New Release
I was going to suggest the new Psy-Changeling book for the sequels suggestion, but since it’s newly released and I love these books, I would be happy to read Tangle of Need by Nalini Singh with you!

message 228: by Mimmy (new)

Mimmy (roxym) | 208 comments Hey Valerie~Varuca~!

I'm so happy to pick for you again. Let me know what you think!

1. Blockbuster Hit - Choose a book that is (or has been) a bestseller, or that you’ve heard a lot of buzz about. Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn.

2. Tearjerker - Recommend a book that is very emotional. The Last Letter from Your Lover by Jojo Moyes: two stories about troubled love affairs, one in present day and one looking back into 1960s London. Or The School of Essential Ingredients by Erica Bauermeister: an ensemble of romances that take place in a restaurant’s cooking school.

3. Independent Film - Select a book that is written by a new or lesser known author, or published by a smaller or independent publisher (not the “Big 6”). I noticed that you liked Cochran’s Lessons in Love (Cambridge Fellows #1), so what about trying Tumble Turn? The book description of a British Paralympic swimmer seeking a medal at the London 2012 Olympics seems very appropriate right now!

4. Enduring Classic - Select a book that has been on your pickee’s TBR for a long time, or a book that is considered a classic – either in the traditional sense, or within the romance genre. Room Service by Jill Shalvis

5. Sequels, Sequels - Recommend the next book in a series that your pickee is reading, or a book by one of their favorite authors. Bone Crossed (Mercy Thompson #4) by Patricia Briggs or Immortal In Death (In Death#3) by J.D. Robb

6. On the Edge of Your Seat… Suggest a book that is suspenseful, intense, or scary. Once Burned (Night Prince #1) by Jeaniene Frost.

Buddy Reads:
Please be sure at least one of your picks is on your pickee’s TBR.

7. Summer Hit - Choose a book that is light and funny or sweet – a little bit of fluff to make you and your pickee smile! Daisy’s Back in Town by Rachel Gibson. I think we’ve both enjoyed her books.

8. New Release - Pick a recently released book, preferably one that has been eagerly awaited. Bared to You (Crossfire #1) by Sylvia Day

Let me know if you're interested in the buddy read... I leave it to you to choose. I think our last buddy read together was Juliet, which didn't work out.

Happy reading and take care!

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn The Last Letter from Your Lover by Jojo Moyes The School of Essential Ingredients by Erica Bauermeister Tumble Turn by Charlie Cochrane Room Service (Do Not Disturb) (Harlequin Blaze, #232) by Jill Shalvis Bone Crossed (Mercy Thompson, #4) by Patricia Briggs Immortal in Death (In Death, #3) by J.D. Robb Once Burned (Night Prince, #1) by Jeaniene Frost Daisy's Back in Town by Rachel Gibson Bared to You (Crossfire, #1) by Sylvia Day

1. Blockbuster Hit - Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter by Seth Grahame-Smith I know the book was popular, and they just made the book into a movie. A Visit from the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan I just read this for a class, and it was an interesting story. When I have time I would like to re-read this when I don't have to analyze it.

Nice, very nice... he's actually who I picture when I picture Dimitri (Christine Feehan - Skyler's Mate).

The first description of him was...

The wolf shifted. The heavily muscled, furred body gave way to a tall, broad-shouldered man with shining black hair streaming down his back. His face was harshly sensual, a carving of stone with lines etched deep and a strong jaw and masculine mouth. His eyes were so blue they seemed to burn over her.

I've pictured David Gandy ever since... (which is why I'm desperately waiting for their story) :)

Thanks for the recs, Rena!

I have Irresistible (Buchanans, #2) by Susan Mallery already waiting to read, so it fits in great and if I can get Strange Angels (Strange Angels, #1) by Lili St. Crow from library, it will be my second choice.
I added Cry No More by Linda Howard to my TBR. Not sure if I will get to read it in July.
