2011 December Challenge

Ok, anyone have an idea about what to do for Dec? I'm thinking that since its such a "hard" month (everyone has so many things to do) we should pick an easy topic this time. :o)

For instance--any book on your TBR shelf. Or how about books with a holiday (not just Christmas, ANY holiday) theme? Or book/title must begin with the first (or last) letter of the previous ones author's name. (First book would be a freebie for this one.) Wyz didn't post the new one she'd dreamed up, or I'd say go with that one. Anyone else have any ideas?

I'm all for an easy one- because I got the brilliant idea that I needed to read Under the Dome which is 1000+ pages... along with like 8 or 9 other books. Apparently I have not only a reading and GR addiction, but also a challenge addiction

I absolutely loved Under the Dome. It was so long but I read it in about three days...I couldn't put it down!

Traditionally (if the nearly 3 years we've been doing this can be considered "tradition") we've done the TBR Clean-up for December. That's the one where we pick 10 books and 5 alternates up front and you have to read from within those 15 books - no changes allowed once you've posted them. I think that challenge has always ranked high during the year-end feedback and that's why it's been repeated.

Of course, I'd love to hear what Yz's new idea is, too. Let's give her another day or so to post before we move forward with something else.

Hi guys! Sorry for the delay, and thanks Ann for taking the initiative.

Martina is right. December is usually our TBR clean-up challenge, and unless there is someone who would vehemently object, I think we can continue tradition.

My new ideas can wait for the new year.

Before I post this, I'd like to apologize for my inattention for the past months. Things have been crazy, but I really appreciate everyone who continue to participate in the monthly challenge.

In response to how busy the holidays are and to continue our challenge tradition, December's challenge is our popular TBR Clean-up Challenge. Hopefully this challenge will make a dent on our crazy TBR pile, just before a new year starts.

DURATION: Dec. 1, 2011 - Dec. 31, 2011

Here are the rules:

1. Pick 10 books from your current physical TBR pile (preferably books that have been there for quite some time). Also pick 5 more books as 'alternate' reads just in case.

Unlike previous challenges, once you put up this list, you CANNOT CHANGE it. However, you can drop down to an alternate book, if you really cannot finish a book that you have selected in your original list. Fair enough?

Also, if you are expecting some library books that you need to read in the month, be sure to include them in your alternate list, so they will count.

Now, for those who don't have enough books (15 in total) in their current TBR pile, to complete your list (both original and alternate) go to your GR to-be-read shelf, and pick how many more you still need from the first 5 pages of that shelf.

Again, you can post your list anytime you like, but no reading until the 1st of December.
