October - Pick It For Me! Challenge
Hi Moviemavengal,We can start Twenties Girl as a Buddy Read today if you want. I probably won't have any reading time until later this evening because we are having company for dinner, but I can start it after they leave. I have it sitting right beside my bed so all I have to do is pick it up and open it!!
Happy reading!

Yayyy! You're welcome, Caroline! I was really hoping you would like my picks. :)
I would love to read The Body Finder with you! Let me know when you want to start, I'll make sure I have it. ;)
I hope you like My Sister's Keeper! ♥
Layla thanks so much for the picks! I know my shelves can be kinda intimidating, especially with all the m/m romance, but despite that dominating my shelves, I still enjoy lots of het romance, too. All of your picks look really good. I'm having trouble deciding where to start. I will definitely be reading Father Mine, if you'd like to do a buddy read with that. Lord and Lady Spy also looks awesome, so I'd be willing to buddy read that, too!
Then, to be honest, I'll have to see how many I can get through! Visions of Heat, Belong to the Night, Montana Sky, Cowgirls Don't Cry, Spider's Bite and The Ninth Orb all look really good, so I'll just try to read as many as I can :)
Isabella wrote: Hi Isabella!
I'll try also Summer in Sicily as soon as I finish the other two books.
Thanks foy your suggestions!

Robin O:Thanks for the picks! Quite a few look interesting to me, and I'm sure I'll be adding some of the new ones to my TBR. At this point I'm leaning toward reading Hot Head, for no other reason that it fits easily into my other challenges for the month! :) I've also been wanting to read The Guy Next Door since I read When You Dare for August's FAC, so hopefully I'll have time at the end of the month to fit that one in too. Thanks again!

Cathy,
I have been on the library list for One Grave at a Time since before it came out and the last time I checked I still had awile to wait. Well, the library called yesterday and it came in early! I just remembered that it was on your list of rec's.
I have to turn the book in on the 20th! I will probably start it next weekend, let me know if you would like to join me.

Hi Shirley, It's OK you just made me too excited waiting your recs :)
You did well, I liked my picks this month and I will start with Mockingjay to complete this series. I added the new ones to my TBR and I'll try to read more than one book this time. I'll be glad also if we do the buddy read for Bet Me, you just mark the date and I'll be ready to start reading it with you.
Thanks again!!
sure - lemme look at the other ones you rec'd and see what I can find ;)AshleyAlexis wrote: " Dee! Soooo my library doesn't have purge =(

Hi Fee, Here are my recommendations for you:
Their TBR
1. Pop - Water for Elephants bySara Gruen. I really enjoyed this book.
2. Golden Oldie - Forever by Maggie Stiefvater. Your TBRs are all pretty recent but this was one of your oldest on your list.
3. Rock - Beauty Queens by Libba Bray. You didn't have any rock hard male bodies so I went with a female rock hard body. Hope you don't mind.
From my shelf
1. Classical - Many Bloody Returns by Charlaine Harris.
2. Country - A Creed In Stone Creek by Linda Lael Miller. I like Linda Lael Miller, therefore the recommendation.
3. Adult Contemporary - When The Bough Breaks by Jonathan Kellerman. I haven't read any of his books yet. I hope it is good.
4. Indie - I don't think I have any Indies on my TBR so I'll skip this one.
Buddy Reads
1. Hip Hop - Of Swine and Roses by Ilona Andrews.
2. Jazz - The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen.
Let me know if you have time to do one of the buddy reads.
You mentioned in your e-mail choosing books for me. I checked the list, and you would be choosing books for the person underneath you. I believe that would be Vi.
Happy Reading!
Hi Sana, I like the look of your picks for me! I think I might go with The Notebook first.
You are the second person to pick City of Bones by Cassandra Clare for me. I'd like to do this for a buddy read if you like.
Karen K. wrote: "Hi Sana, You are the second person to pick City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. I'd like to do this for a buddy read if you like."
Great, I can start whenever you're ready!
Hey Joyce!I think that Inheritance isn't out until November 8th if I'm correct this year? So unfortunately I won't be able to read that anytime soon or right away because then I'll be on vacation.
I'm probably going to however check out Touch since I can't find the wolf book anywhere for the life of me. I'd love to do a buddy read with you. I did kind of want to read Possess as well, but I'm down to read Entangled also!!
Thanks for the picks!
Mandy wrote: "Hey, Sana and Karen K. Here's a link for the buddy read Thread for City of Bones."Thanks Mandy!
Dawn, I picked up The Darkest Night today from the library. I'm looking forward to starting this series I've hears so much about. Thank you for recommending it to me.

I'd love to read Entangled with you. I already have it so I can start anytime you want. If you chose this.
Photojim wrote: "Nairabell, the library had My Favorite Witch, just not by Lisa Plumley. So I found it at the used book store last night. Since it's in my possession, just let me know when you want to do the budd..."Awesome :) How does the middle of the month sound? Starting the weekend after next?
SarahI was unable to sleep last night so I took my ereader off the the shelf and started to read
it certainly didnt help me to sleep I read it all in one sitting, I found it compelling and greatly moving.
Cheryl (group D) ..I was wondering, for the buddy read..Could we start reading
from next week? If it's ok with you, I would be happy to read it together. I will start on monday, since I am already reading a book now. Do let me now, ok?
Thank you for the picks!! There are three different ones that I am trying to choose between =) If you would like to buddy read, I'd like to read The Book Thief, however, we'd have to go fairly slow. I only have about an hour or less to read each night. =(Coffeentea wrote: "Hi Tiffanny, here's my picks for you.

OK CHERYL from GROUP D, here are your suggestions! I hope you like one! :) Sorry it's so late, one day left for my picks. Phew....From Your TBR Shelf:
1. Pop: One of my all time favs is The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver
2. Golden Oldies: You have a couple of Jodi Picoult books on your TBR list, I will suggest Keeping Faith although I haven't read it yet...
3. Rock: Nauti Nights by Lora Leigh looks Rockin Hot!
From My Read Shelf:
4. Classical: Another one of my favs is the Guernsey Literary and Potato Pie Peel Society by Annie Barrows and Mary Ann Shaffer. Not a symphony but 2 is more than 1... lol
5. Country: I am sorta cheating with this one, I haven't read The Story of Edgar Sawtell by David Wroblewski but it's on my TBR list, not sure if it's good. Not even sure if there is a cowperson... but it's set on a farm.
6. Adult Contemporary: 2 choices here: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson has all of the above, sex, drugs, murder, I liked it... I also enjoyed the Dexter Series, so suggest trying Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay.
7. Indie: This is a local author from my area, she's funny and this was one of her first books (I think), not bad.... Relative Happiness by Leslie Crew. I also really liked Gods Behaving Badly, by Marie Phillips, but I doubt it counts as Indie...
Buddy Reads:
8. Hip Hop: This looks awesome and has now moved up to the top of my list TBR, published Sept 13, 2011...
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern.
9. Jazz: Also want to start the Darkfever series by Karen Marie Moning so this would be another suggestion
The Poisonwood Bible
Keeping Faith
Nauti Nights
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
The Story of Edgar Sawtelle
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
Darkly Dreaming Dexter
Relative Happiness
The Night Circus
Darkfever
Gods Behaving Badly
recommendations: For Vi :)Your TBR List:
1. Pop: Gayle Foreman- If I Stay
I absolutely love this book so I hope you enjoy it.
2. Golden Oldies: Markus Zusak- The Book Thief
I read this I while ago and found it really interesting.
3. Rocks: Pamela Clark- Surrender
What can I say?
My Read List:
4. Classical: Corsets And Clockwork: 13 Steampunk Romances
The only one I've read.
5. Country: Rosemary Clement-Moore- Texas Gothic
Cowboy :)
6. Adult Contemporary: Dorothy Koomson- My Best Friend's Girl
I really hope you like this one
7. Indie- Robin McKinley- Sunshine
I'm not sure if it doesn't get much airplay but it's often overlooked in the vamipire genre. (Is vampire a genre?)
Buddy Read:
8. Hip Hop: Stephanie Perkins- Lola And The Boy Next Door
9. David Nicholls- One Day
If you have time I wouldn't mind doing either of these for a Buddy Read. Happy Reading and sorry it's a little late :)
Hi Elke! The "reply" feature was going wonky on me and this is the first chance I've had to post this week. Thanks for the great picks! I'll definitely be reading The Many Sins of Lord Cameron this month. I'm going to try to get to one of the Susan Mallery books too. Probably Under Her Skin since I need another U book for the read the season challenge. This is the second month she's been recommended to me so I must be missing out on something. :)
Thanks again!
Hi Moviemavengal,I just started our buddy read, "Twenties Girl" and I'm about 100 pages in. I am really liking it. So far, the ghost reminds me of the delightful ghost in the books by Carolyn Haines. I am also finding this different from the 'Shopoholic' books by Kinsella, but I think it is going to be just as good.
Have you started it yet?
HI Fee,Thanks for the recs :). I'll probably be going with
. Since I haven't finished
, I'll probably read that first. There is going to be BR for the Lola book with few other people probably after mid of October. Will that work for you?
Katrina,Sorry I am so late getting your picks up for the month. I have been sick all week and pretty much in the bed. Hope you find something you like here.

Thanks for the picks Kim!! I love the "buddy reads" you picked. Do you want to read one of these with me? Either one is fine. It looks like others are going to start The Dark Circus so we could join in on that thread or start one for Dark Fever. Let me know what you would like to do. Thanks again, Cheryl

Nairabell - Thanks for the recs again, now that I had time to really check them out. I'll try to read Forever because I've been meaning to finish this series for a while now and I just can't bring myself to do it. From the new picks, the concept of Need really intrigued me and I'll give it a try. As for the buddy reads - I'm definitely reading (listening to) One Grave at a Time this month but if you aren't able to join me, that's fine. Children are more important! :)
Zara wrote: "Shell wrote: "Zara, Just got out of work and am exhausted. I'll get recs to you tomorrow sometime. Sorry!"no big"
Zara, your picks are on page 9- message 447.
ShellbelleI put in a library request for Changeless and its transferring as we speak. It will probably be a week before I have it in my hands so can we plan for week 2 or 3 of Oct for the buddy read?
Lacy,I am also on the library wait list for One Grave at a Time. However, I am definitely reading it this month. Sooo if it doesn't come in soon, I will buy it. Let me know when you're starting it and I will see where things stand.
