20.8 - The Night I was BornCranford by Elizabeth Gaskell
A delightful book which was a mini series on the BBC in 2007, with 2 further episodes at Christmas 2009. I hadn't read it before and realised how well the series had captured the atmosphere of Cranford.
One aspect which interested me is that Miss Matty, who is depicted as an old and rather feeble woman in the book, and played wonderfully in the series by a 70+ year old Judi Dench, is declared to be in her 50s! How we've changed!
