Band of Brothers: E Company, 506th Regiment, 101st Airborne from Normandy to Hitler's Eagle's Nest - I love this mini-series and can't believe I hadn't read the book - I was struck while looking at some of the included pictures how similar the actors chosen looked like the actual men - it was remarkable. From a grad student perspective - this book was a great example of a lived experience, which is what the class i'm taking in school right now is looking at

Olivia, a main character in this series, had three children with her ex-husband, Stan. They divorced following the death of one of the children and now she is married to Jack. Both of the surviving children from Olivia and Stan's marriage are married with children of their own and are also characters in the series. Olivia's new husband, Jack, also has an adult son from his previous marriage. Additionally, Olivia's elderly mother, a widow, has married another widower who also has an adult child who makes an appearance in this book. Olivia and her new step brother don't see eye to eye. Can you say soap opera?

I really enjoyed The Housekeeper and the Professor. The professor suffers from anterograde amnesia, so I chose to look at memory. There is a chapter on this disorder in:
Moonwalking with Einstein: The Art and Science of Remembering Everything by Joshua Foer
This book gives an overview of memory systems and cognitive processing in an interesting way
