It was pretty bittersweet to finish The Girl Who ...I know there are 7 more out there that were outlined but the lawsuits going on between SL's parents and his writing and life partner make it seem like those will never see the light of day!

How do you get that little time line. I went to the website and I was so confused?!

One thing I love about my family has to be the fact that we're not all blood-related, and yet it doesn't matter. My parents have four foster children living in the home, and I have two biological brothers. The fact that my sisters and brothers come from another culture makes my family unique and really brings a lot to it.

Thanks!

A. I have lived in Illinois (The Land of Lincoln) my entire life so for that reason, I would have everyone...Read a book about Abraham Lincoln (A. Lincoln: A Biography) or his wife Mary Todd Lincoln (The Emancipator's Wife).
AND
B. When people think Illinois they think Chicago: Read a book with Chicago in the title (The Chicago Way) or a book that takes place in Chicago (The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America).
OR
C. Chicago is famous for talk show host Oprah Winfrey: Read something from her book club picks over the years. Oprah's Book Club Picks
For A I read Mrs Lincoln by Janis Cooke Newman, a 5* read. As a British girl with next to no knowledge of American history and if I'm honest, very little desire to learn more about American history, I loved this book and was gripped from the beginning.
For C I read A Million Little Pieces by James Frey a controversial Oprah Book Club book! I'm giving this 4*. I enjoyed it .. well actually enjoyed might not be the correct word, but it was a good read.
I'm claiming a Big Books ticket for Mrs Lincoln at 569 pages.

Jud and Derek have been together for years and one night, Derek makes Jud promise to never love another even if one of them dies...10 years later, Jud is still holding to that promise, but what does he do, when he mets someone else? This book was a relatively quick read and sweet. It was the first by this author that I had read and I will likely seek her out again in the future and would recommend to people who like M/M type books.

Unshelved, Vol. 1
A hilarious comic about the goings-on at Mallville library. My favorite strip has to be http://www.unshelved.com/2002-4-5 (note: I did actually read the book version, but I went online to see if the comic is still running and if that strip was online to share with all of you...and I definitely want an enlarged copy of that strip for my classroom when I get one of my own)

10.4 - Roll The Dice... I got 361 - Ice Cold by Tess Gerritsen (352 pages) Goodreads Author
I was fortunate to receive an ARC of this book through the Tess Gerritsen group here on Goodreads of which Tess is a participating member. She is a wonderful author and her Rizzoli and Isles books are being made into a TV series by the same name on TNT starting July 12th starring Angie Harmon as Jane Rizzoli.
10.6 - Stand Up For Your Rights - Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford Goodreads Author
What a wonderful book. I gave it ★★★★★. I had not read anything about how Japanese/Americans were treated after WWII so this was a learning experience for me plus it was a lovely love story.

15.3 - Books And Blogs - On the Poisoned Pen Blog http://www.poisonedpenblog.com/ the featured author was Scott Turow. I read Presumed Innocent by Scott Turow. Things get tense when a lead prosecutor becomes the prosecuted. Nice twist at the end.

The Trumpet of the Swan
I apologize if any of this is incoherent--I'm a little tired, but I wanted to post before I went to bed.
This is my third challenge, so I have "leather or crystal/glass." My present to my (imaginary) spouse would therefore be a crystal swan. It would be crystal because it's shiny and delicate and expensive, so it would be a very special kind of present, and in the shape of a swan because swans mate for life, which I think is terribly romantic. It would be a keepsake that would endure long after my spouse and I were gone :3

I am a number 6. I read Little Bee, by Chris Cleave, who is also a number 6.
For my second book, I read I Am the Messenger, by Markus Zusak. The main character, Ed, transforms from a self-absorbed slacker into a genuine hero, by doing good-deeds for random people. He does these acts selflessly, exhibiting a sense of "community".

I finished: Task 5.5 - Dropping Names; I chose:Marisa de los Santos (on page 5, 24th author listed) and read: Love Walked In, her most popular book.
Thank you Cynthia.

Yes it is the same book. It irritates me when they change the titles!

It's summertime and it's getting HOT out there..Read a book with one of the following words in the title (Hot, Hotter, Heat, Warm, Warmth, Heatwave, Fire, Sizzle, Blaze, Scorch, Sun, Sunny, Toasty or another similar word). (EXAMPLE: Heat Wave)
Heat Lightning by Sandford

5.2 - Blockbuster Books
There are many highly anticipated films that will be hitting the theaters this summer (i.e. Eclipse, Toy Story 3, The A-Team, Eat Pray Love and many others)...For this task read a book that relates to the film you are most looking forward to seeing this summer (EXAMPLE: For Eat Pray Love you could read the book that is the basis for the film Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman's Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia or another travel memoir such as Undress Me in the Temple of Heaven.) (You do not actually have to see the film to get credit for this task.)

30.5 DLM Rose's Task--Virtual Block Party
I would bring several dozen (depending on size of block) of my Cheddar Pepperoni rolls, so I read:
C. Food Related Nonfiction: Feeding a Yen: Savoring Local Specialties, from Kansas City to Cuzco by Calvin Trillin, which is a delightful book about Trillin's love for and on-hands search for little-known items usually only available in small pockets off culinary delight. Only read if you are already well fed. I chose this book because I enjoy Trillin's writing and humor and he has a Kansas City connection.
D. Cookbook related to your dish: The Panera Bread Cookbook: Breadmaking Essentials and Recipes from America's Favorite Bakery-Cafe, which rather disappointed me as most of the recipes were for what to do with loaves of already baked bread. Still, no cookbook is ever a waste of time.
Recipe will appear in recipe section.
