The Memory of Running by Ron McLarty.

Smithson Ide is 43 years old, and at 5'11" weighs 279 pounds. He has never been married and on the opening pages is ending his vacation at a cabin in Maine with his parents. Smithy has buried his emotions in alcohol, but the circumstances of his life change in the moment when his parents' car hits the center divider on their way home. Told alternating the past with the present, this is a wonderful debut novel of self-discovery. 5 stars

This is a Goodreads Author and the book was 515 pages.

15.3 BOOKS AND BLOGS: Changes by Jim Butcher This book was reviewed at www.scifiguy.ca
Ok, I am going to try and write this review without spoilers. Because if you are a Dresden fan, you need to read this book without knowing all the twists, turns, surprises, cliffhangers and CHANGES.

This book was aptly named, not only are there LOTS of changes in Dresden and his life, but others definitely have some changes in themselves too. This was one of my favorite books. It pulls you in and you can't put it down. This is very well due to the fact that every chapter ends in a cliffhanger and you HAVE to find out what happens next, beginning with a wallop of a surprise for Harry in the very beginning. Hold on, cause the shocks, discoveries and surprises keep coming right through to the very end.

The economy is down and many people can't afford to take a summer vacation away from home. So logically if you can't go away you have to bring the destination to you and since the beach is probably the most popular destination for summer travelers that's what we'll do for this task by...Reading a book that has a beach scene on the cover.

5.10 - I reread Eclipse. I admit its horrible drivel, I love it.

Its hard to pick one thing I love about my family, because I love pretty much everything about them. So lets go with this - I love that I have four siblings, and that when my family gets together, the more people you add, the more chaotic the more fun it gets, until all six of us are there laughing our butts off at the world.

My complete review for Ice Land appears on my blog at http://colreads.blogspot.com/2010/06/... -- a three star read, and for mythology/fantasy, you can do better. Nicole Dreibelbeis (nicoledreibelbeis) | 132 comments 15.3 Books & Blogs: Jekel Loves Hyde by Beth Fantaskey Jekel Loves Hyde by Beth Fantaskey

Review Featured on Wicked Awesome Books: http://ahauntofancientpeace.blogspot....

Jill Jekel is crushed by the brutal murder of her father, but even more so by the revelation that he was not who she thought he was. Comfort comes in the form of a mysterious guy named Tristen Hyde and the promise of winning a chemistry scholarship. At their teacher's urgings, the two pair up in hopes of increasing their chances of winning with their famously paired names- Jekel and Hyde. As they begin recreating the volatile experiments Dr. Jekyll performed, they are drawn deeper into a nightmare as they discover that it was not just fiction after all. Tristen is dangerous, and not who he seems- yet Jill can't help but feel drawn to him. As they continue their research, the stakes get higher- the outcome now affects not only Jill's chance at the scholarship but Tristen's own soul.

I definitely enjoyed this book, it is very dark but also romantic. The relationship that develops between Tristen and Jill feels very real, despite the fantastical circumstances. The only thing I did not like about the book was Jill's self-deprecating nature. Like Bella in Twilight, Jill just could not believe that such a great guy would fall for her, which gets a bit frustrating. Overall a fun, suspenseful read.

First book of my first challenge!

I read Mom Still Likes You Best: The Unfinished Business Between Siblings.

The thing I like most about our family is how much fun we have when we're all together, especially at dinner. When the kids were growing up, we always tried to sit down to dinner together, and it was a time for lots of talk and laughing. Now, when they come home, it's still a treat.

I read The Postman Always Rings Twice which was on the Psychological Crime Novels list. I'm still not sure whether I liked this book or not.

10.1 - Stormy Weather
I read October Skies by Alex Scarrow. This was split into two stories and I really loved the one from 1856 but could have done without the rest.

10.5 - If You Can't Go To The Beach...Bring The Beach To You
I read The She by Carol Plum-Ucci which was just ok.

15.3 - Books And Blogs
I read 13 Little Blue Envelopes which was reviewed on http://lostininkreviews.blogspot.com

My review:
I found this book fairly entertaining, but it wasn't great. It's a pretty fluffy book, full of funny/cute/weird things that happen to Ginny as she follows her aunts instructions to trapeze around Europe. It made me really want to travel. I did have an issue with the fact that there is almost no grieving in the book. Her aunt has just died but Ginny seems to not have a very strong reaction to it. At the end that's kind of explained but I didn't really feel it was realistic. Also she's a bit young to be running around Europe on her own but maybe that's just me.
