Alfred Eyrie | 14 comments Hello, readers. I am a Goodreads author who has published several books under my real name, but have had to use a pen name to write and promote a personal memoir based on the true stories of my childhood spent in a haunted house. The end result is Memoirs of a Haunted House. To protect the privacy of those involved, I had to change the names and a few details of the story, so the story is not exactly true and not exactly fiction. My hope is to reach other children and adults who lived through similar experiences and were told, as I was, that they were imagining things or were crazy for talking about it.

Memoirs of a Haunted House by Alfred Eyrie
Memoirs of a Haunted House is available at a reduced price through July 6th. Only $2.99!

Elizabeth Robinson (BlackPage) | 23 comments Hi, everyone! I'm Elizabeth Robinson, about to start college at UT. My two books are below:

Talismen: Birthstones

Blurb: In the midst of a war that has lasted since the beginnings of civilization, the leader of the Talismen training sector decides that it is time to call upon their foreseen hope for an unforeseen dilemma. But their newest recruit has failed to yet recognize even his simplest power. Whenever eleven-year-old Roman was asked “How did you know that?” by people like Hal, he struggled to find an answer, both for the person asking, and for himself. Roman and Caleb didn’t think much at first when two out-of-place boys stopped them in their tracks coming home from school, until two of their classmates set off a fake bomb at the movie theater. Upon finding that these were connected, Roman would have to choose between facing his destiny alone or trusting complete strangers. But even after joining the Talismen, Roman soon finds that he’s more alone than he thinks…

Charango

Blurb: Adela Reyna has found herself in a place of terror, uncertainty, and slavery--and she is the slave. She and her fellow experiments, nicknamed the Black Panthers, have dismal prospects for rescue, and perhaps worse dangers await them beyond the treasure-filled mountain, in a cruel, fearful, and unforgiving world. But Adela soon finds that the only way to truly escape this harsh environment is through her old companion, her Charango.

For more info (plus behind the scenes, newsletter, social media, etc.), my website is www.MetokaBooks.com

I'm also currently trading free, signed copies of the book for anyone who agrees to write a quick, online review! Just PM me if you're interested in hearing more.

Ryan Troske | 49 comments I am looking to get some reviews on my newly published novel, The Rising (Supernaturals book 1), and am offering free ebooks to those interested. If you enjoy superheroes of any kind, X-men, Percy Jackson, and similar works, you will enjoy this book. Summary below.

Ethan is just an ordinary teenage boy—infatuated with sports music and, of course, girls. Or so he thinks. Heading home on a rainy night from an amateur guitar gig, he finds his life turned completely upside down—literally. His car spins and flips out of control after what he believes to be a small animal jumps out in front of him. The horrific accident is only the beginning of a series of mysterious and seemingly unrelated events that will change his life forever.

After awaking in the hospital, and following an encounter with an enigmatic doctor, Ethan discovers that something that occurred during the wreck allows him to hear others' thoughts, and even more perplexing, move objects with his mind. While trying to wrap his head around this mystery, he realizes he’s not alone. There are others out there with special powers. Not long after learning of this new world, Ethan’s ever increasing lack of control places those around him at serious risk. In order to protect those he loves, he makes the difficult decision to leave and accepts an offer to attend specialized training along with other so called Supernaturals to gain command over his newfound gifts. Shortly after beginning his schooling, Ethan is sent on a mission to kidnap who he believes to be the enemy leader in a well concealed Supernaturals war. But the further he becomes embedded in this new world, the more he discovers things are not quite what they seem and doesn't know who can be trusted.

In this first installment of the Supernaturals series, Ethan discovers that super powers aren’t always so super, and is faced with difficult decisions that will not only affect his own life, but which may determine the life or death of his newfound companions and mentor.

If interested in doing a review, please send me a private message. Thanks.

She's counting on the boy next door to help her convince her dad to let her go, but when he returns from Vietnam injured, losing all of his own dreams, Rachel knows nothing is ever going to be the same. Throughout the harsh winter of 1969-70, the world slips ever farther off its axis as Kent is on a collision course with history, dragging Rachel and Evan with it, and forcing Rachel to control her own destiny in ways she never imagined. K.G. Reuss (kgreuss) | 14 comments Hello

My book was recently published and I wanted to share it with everyone. It's currently on sale on Amazon Kindle for 99 cents until the 11th of August. It probably belongs in more than just this category though since it does have a romance plot to it as well as magical realism. Here's the link if you'd like to check it out:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HYTWRIW#...
I've also supplied the blurb about it below. Thanks!

Ana Winters is a beautiful, but somewhat socially awkward, seventeen-year-old, who has had a crush on her friend, star quarterback and heartthrob Kellin James, ever since they met at Lincoln High. When the charming, enigmatic, and devastatingly handsome Calix Night shows up at the school, Ana finds herself suddenly and quite unexpectedly the subject of a rivalry between Kellin and Calix as the two vie for her affection.

But Ana has more pressing problems in the form of blinding headaches, strange dreams, visions, and possible hallucinations, including something flitting through her mirror and her hands bursting into flames. After Calix saves Ana from an army of shadowy, supernatural creatures, he relates a story that sounds like a fairy tale, complete with evil kings, warring knights, and a princess named Analia. Is it mere coincidence that his tale is nearly identical to Ana’s frightening dreams and visions and that her name is so similar to the princess in the tale?

Could Ana really be royalty from another world who is being protected by—or perhaps is the prey of—two others from that world in the form of Kellin and Calix? And if so, why? Could it be true that she was sent to Earth Realm to keep her from a man who is almost literally her other half, the darkness to her light and the death to her life, because their union would create unimaginable powers that could be used for evil—and maybe good?

R.J. Gilbert (rjagilbert) | 33 comments I’m not sure if I’ve introduced myself here before, but I’ve written a few not-so-genre-specific sci-fi/fantasy adventures for young adults and families.

Men of Renown by Robert J.A. Gilbert
Men of Renown is a sword-and-sorcery adventure that explores the legend of Atlantis based on a blend of science as well as the legends of Plato and the story of Noah from the Bible.

I have also written three fantasy/ sci-fi blend adventures in my Tales of Vantoria series.

The Sarian's Sword (Tales of Vantoria book 1) by Robert J.A. Gilbert The Lucky and the Strong (Tales of Vantoria book 2) by Robert J.A. Gilbert Dungeon of Illusion (Tales of Vantoria 3) by Robert J.A. Gilbert
These adventures take place in a world that blends multiple genres together–from fairy tale fantasy to wizards and dragons to flying cars and high-tech warfare. My goal in writing was to explore diversity in a fantasy environment where people with very different backgrounds and beliefs can come together in adventures that force them to explore their differences.

My latest TOV adventure, Dungeon of Illusion, is free this weekend for Kindle readers who would like to give it a try. For more information, visit https://www.amazon.com/Dungeon-Illusi...

It's a YA fiction about a high school senior who has a hard time coping with events in his life, one such string of incidents which are unknown to others. James Hartley | 71 comments Hi guys, my name´s James and I´m going to have my first YA book published in February. The book is a kind of historical adventure - about kids at a boarding school who go back in time to medieval Scotland and get involved in the plot of Shakespeare´s Macbeth. It´s also a love story and, I´d say, a thriller.

I´m looking for any YA books to review, or authors to get in touch with, whose books might have similiar themes - a bit of history, a bit of romance and a bit of action.

Thanks!

Christina Bates | 25 comments I have a new book out, The Sultan's Heir.
The Sultan's Heir (The Desert Princess, #1) by Christina Bates

The Sultan's Heir is a prequel to The Desert Princess, it will appeal to lovers of fantasy adventure epics, action adventure, young adult, romance, and historical fiction. It does contain violence, a couple curse words, and talk of sexual situations.

Description:
The Bedouin Rezhan ended the oppressive regime Zaityra languished under, but he had larger plans at work, and launched a full attack against the neighboring land of Ronan in an effort to bring it under his control as well.

In a bloody battle between the sultanate of Zaityra and the empire of Ronan, Erezhad watches his father dying and takes up the mantle of sultan in the hopes to finally bring peace to the desert land of Zaityra after years of turmoil.

Under Sultan Erezhad's rule, he can give them a long awaited peace and a hopeful future, but that future will require an heir distilled with the same values. Erezhad must ensure the peace and prosperity of his people, but though he has friends on his side, there are those who would manipulate the future for their own ends. The future of Zaityra depends on The Sultan's Heir.

It can be purchased at Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Sultans-Heir-D...

But I'm also looking to give away a few copies in exchange for honest reviews. If you're interested, please let me know.

Memoirs of a Haunted House by Alfred Eyrie

Memoirs of a Haunted House is available on paperback just in time for the holidays.

Unlike most ghost stories, Memoirs does not focus on the death as much as it does the life of a house I grew up in. There are tales of my first Halloween, as well as several Christmas stories and other childhood memories...all of them overshadowed by a sense of dread–a feeling that something was horribly wrong in my house. Of course, my parents told me I was just imagining things...until one day...

I did not write Memoirs to scare the reader. I wrote it for the readers who are already scared, because I want to let them know that they are not crazy, and most of all, that they are not alone.

Here my YA novella:
Anna lives her life with her father, Gabriel, and her beloved dog Click. She tries to get confused in the fog of London and expresses her emotions only through dance.
“I'm fickle, tied to a life that doesn't exist any more: true love, perfect life, good friends. Everything is so damned difficult for me! Like a never-ending dance where the choreographer is never satisfied!”
And if life were an eternal dance? Would you dance with your eyes closed?
On her seventeenth birthday, on a windy spring day, Anna meets Romeo, his smile, his voice, and she wakes up. But in a play of silence and destiny, their roads divide, and Anna loses her equilibrium yet again.
Will any type of melody unite them again? Or is Stuart her true love?
Will dancing save her?

My name's Katie Mineeff, Katie Mineeff, I'm new to this group. I have two self-published YA novels, Cargo (Cargo Trilogy # 1) by Katie Mineeff and Ruin (Cargo Trilogy # 2) by Katie Mineeff and am currently writing the third in the trilogy titled, Refuge. I've published both novels on KDP and Smashwords.

I joined this group to find other authors in this genre who would like to join me in a group e-book giveaway as a marketing strategy. Marketing is definitely not my strong point but I recently came across a system I'd like to try that was explained by a self-publisher and blogger called Nick Stephenson (My First 10k Readers).

I read a lot of the posts here, and you all seem so accomplished. It's really awesome to see that so many of you have books in publication. I am currently seeking an agent, because I want a fourth of the proceeds of my novel to go to Child Soldiers International.

Here's a bit about my book:
Title: Sanctuary: A Tale of Escape pt. 1

Excerpt:
Portia Gaughran is an Army brat, which means trying to maintain her sanity and spot as head cheerleader while worrying about her father in overseas. So for Portia, boarding at a school near the U.S. Army base in Esperanza is nothing out of the ordinary. But when the U.S. territory falls under the threat of rebels, being a military kid in Esperanza turns into more for Portia and her friends than living in a place that most people associate with dream vacations; it becomes about fearing for their safety and being leery of every civilian they meet. Especially, Javier Perón, a mysterious and potentially dangerous young Esperanzan artist who paints a dark past that seems well on its way to repeating itself. And as Portia escapes deeper into his mystery, she can't help but wonder if, by trying to free him from his demons, she will become his sanctuary or his next victim.

If anyone would like to read a bit of my book, please check out my profile.

If that sounds a bit dull, then add in an outrageous lad who lives next door who starts a band, psychopathic nightclub bouncers and drug dealers, a Muslim friend running away from an honour killing brother, becoming a star in a reality TV programme, love, death, and family, busting open a grooming gang sex scandal, and kidnap by Islamic terrorists... oh yes, and occasional mention of cars...

Melody Personette (mel_18_writer) | 4 comments Hi! My name's Melody and I recently self-published my YA superhero book Weapon Icean which is the first in the Khione series.

Weapon Icean by Melody Personette

After being injected with a serum that gives sixteen year old Delphi Icylin icy cold abilities, she is thrown into the world of the Protectors. The team of superheroes that watches over Amparo City and protect the world from enhanced criminals and villains. Soon after she wakes with her strange new powers, her world is flipped upside-down again.

Her parents and older brother are revealed as superpowered villains and a new dark organization rises from the shadows to enact their long awaited vengeance against the Protectors.

Can she trust the Protectors or the handsome, winged Eros and his sinister telepathic boss, Tremble, who believes the Protectors are prejudice against those who look different from "normal" Supers.

Maybe, for Delphi, fitting in and living up to impossible superhero standards is overrated.

Quick summary below:

Erin has never really known who she is or what she wants. That is, until she meets her new University flatmate Allen.
Reckless, eccentric and creative, Allen is everything Erin doesn’t have the courage to be and she’s immediately drawn to him. She’s sure he feels the attraction too, until he starts dating their mutual friend Charlotte instead.
Then one night changes everything.
When a drunken mistake leaves Charlotte fighting for her life, the victim of a car accident, there’s only one question everyone’s asking: what really happened? Erin has an answer to that, more than one in fact, but running from the truth is far easier than facing up to it…

C.R. Fladmark (crfladmark) | 7 comments Enter to win The Fallen Gatekeepers, book two in C.R. Fladmark's YA fantasy series on Goodreads or Amazon!

In book one, 16-year-old Junya was shocked to discover that not only are there worlds beyond our own, he's actually descended from one of them: his mother was one of the all-female caste of warriors known as Gatekeepers, who guard the realm of Izumo Oyashiro. With the help of a young Gatekeeper named Shoko, who looked like a schoolgirl but was in fact a deadly warrior, Junya faced his destiny and battled the forces of evil.

Now the Evil Ones are back, and they're going after the gods themselves. Shoko and Junya must rescue the shamans of earth before the gods are weakened beyond saving. There are just three problems: the poison of his first encounter with the Evil Ones still infects Junya's blood, the thoughts Junya's having about Shoko have more to do with her lips and curves than her skills as a warrior, and hordes of venomous lizard-men are trying to kill them all.

It's a lot for a teenage boy to deal with, but one thing is for sure: everything is going to change.

"Lot was a Nobody. Lot was a nobody. Sometimes, life deals you a right melon."

Lot Nobody is average - even his ears - and is so lonely that he's become invisible. But on his 16th birthday Lot truly starts disappearing - uprooted to a magical island, then sent back fully naked in the most embarrassing of situations.

After befriending Ethan Longbow - a classmate who's about as street as a satsuma - Lot's insecurities start to peel away, an angry volcano begins to pulsate, and Lot Nobody goes toe-to-toe with the dastardly megalomaniac Hector Shady.

Lot must now face his anxieties, save his new island friends, and discover why the hell his bum has been so itchy ...

The Lot of a Nobody is author Dave Johnston's first novel, after his novella series "Sixty Minute Reads" reached the Top 10 short story list on both Amazon UK and USA

Stephen Coghlan | 2 comments Just in time for Canada’s 150th birthday, comes Stephen Coghlan’s debut novel. Gathering Storms is a YA Anthro adventure that spans the country from coast to coast, and features actual locals from the great nation.

It all started years ago when my dad used a government contract to create super-soldiers for his own needs. After almost a decade of providing limited success, the project was canceled and we were ordered destroyed. Unwilling to kill his children, dad hid us throughout the country, splitting us up from each other.

Just after my eighth birthday, my oldest sister got into some hot water. Her guardian had died and she was forced to live on the streets. When several witnesses reported seeing her, it sparked a race to recover her, and my other siblings, between my father and the agency that had ordered us destroyed. That night began my people’s fight for our rights, our freedom, and our very lives.

I’ve collected writings from my siblings and have tried to put them into an order that I hope makes sense for you. This is our story.

Yours sincerely,
Anna Keper

GENMOS evokes the scope and depth of James Patterson’s When the Wind Blows and the Maximum Ride series with a fresh, furry style. . . This is the grand start of a YA adventure series, I’m certain of it.”

(Whew! It's been a journey.)

Robert Sloan (robertbsloan) | 2 comments Hi all,

I'm excited to have joined this group and to share the first novel in my young adult fantasy series, Hamelin Stoop.

Hamelin Stoop: The Eagle, the Cave, and the Footbridge

Synopsis: Afraid of being caught by trackers from another world, a young mother abandons her baby boy in a tomato box inside the screened porch of a children's home. The staff at the orphanage name him Hamelin Stoop, but he grows up longing to learn his real name, find his parents, and thus discover his true identity.
Life is not easy for Hamelin. He belongs to everyone, though in some ways to no one fully. And the people he is closest to leave him one by one. A letter from an older friend advises Hamelin to "keep waiting and keep hoping." Bitter experiences force Hamelin to wait, but he has to learn how to hope.
When the children's home forgets his eighth birthday, he sneaks away at night. He soon discovers that he isn't just running away -- he is being summoned by the Ancient One. Guided by the Great Eagle through a mysterious cave, Hamelin must pass a dangerous test of courage before he can find his parents.
Hamelin's failures, fears, and hopes become part of a larger story, a story of a great struggle between worlds and kingdoms where the old myths of magic, evil contracts, and enslaved children turn out to be real.

Robert Sloan (robertbsloan) | 2 comments The Hamelin Stoop series has two volumes, and I'm currently working on the third.

Hamelin Stoop: The Lost Princess and the Jewel of Periluna

Synopsis: Hamelin finally makes it across the footbridge only to learn that his quest to find his parents and learn his true identity will not be quickly done or easy to fulfill. The Great Eagle leads him through the dangerous Waters of Death and Life and into the Land of Gloaming, where Hamelin is thrown into the midst of a war already being waged between the evil Chimera and the mysterious Ancient One. He must help two new friends find a kidnapped princess and recover a stolen jewel, tasks for which they have special gifts that must not be misused: a scarf of sight, shoes of speed, and a sword of death. But these quests are only part of the larger story, a story including Chimera’s plan to use Hamelin—a child of two realms—to seize the kingdoms on both sides of the Atrium of the Worlds.

I have my second YA book coming out on 9/19/17 called Stolen Secrets, published by Boyds Mills Press. It's about a 16-year-old girl who finds Holocaust entries in her grandmother's home, leading her to suspect that the woman has a shocking link to Anne Frank.

There's a lot more I'd love to say, but I don't want to give away the ending! :)
