Aileen Morris | 11 comments Hi everybody! I'm Aileen Morris, and I have just published my first book, The Darkness of Peoh. It is the first in a trilogy for teens and young adults, and I wrote it because I wished that books written for young people these days could have more of a classic feel to them. I got the idea from watching the movie The Wizard of Oz. The plot revolves a girl named Dorothy :) who has to leave her home to work in the dangerous Tar-Pit mines of Emeraldia. Many adventures follow, and Dorothy has to be careful not to incite the wrath of the land's strict Sunshine and his government officials!

Mark Parker | 20 comments Hello! My name is Mark S. Parker and my first published Middle Grade novel was released on October 15. Shaky Man is set in a small town outside of Waco, Texas in the 1960's. It is a story of baseball, unexpected friendships, racism, understanding and the things that go through any young boy's mind during times of turbulence. There is even a murder and a trial. It has received 5 star ratings and a great review on GoodReads from Rebecca McNutt. You can learn more about it on my website - marksparker.com.

L.H. Nicole | 2 comments Hello wonderful authors and readers!
L.H. Nicole I'm L.H. Nicole and my first YA Fantasy series is a modern day continuation of King Arthur's story :) It's an epic adventure with magic, action, dragons, swords, knights and romance.
Legendary (Legendary Saga #1) by L.H. Nicole Aliana Fagan spent her childhood traveling the world, dreaming of legendary heroes and mythical lands. But after the sudden death of her parents, she hides behind the safety of her camera and her art until a vivid recurring dream compels her to dig into her father's research about Avalon and Camelot. When she is hurled into a magical realm by forces she thought were only the stuff of fairy tales, she finds herself thrown into an adventure she could never have imagined. Nearly everything she thought she knew about Arthurian legend was wrong. The independent eighteen-year-old is shocked to find that the people of Avalon think that she is the Destined One, the only person who can summon King Arthur back to life from his hidden chamber. Most surprising of all is that it's up to her to lead the Knights of the Round Table on an epic quest-an adventure that will transport them across the seven magic realms to reclaim all that has been lost so they can defeat the evil Mordrid for good. But first, she must bring the ancient warriors into her world and reunite them with their lost brothers. Chaperoning the legendary knights-with-a-chivalry-complex as they navigate the modern world is a constant challenge, and she certainly never thought she'd be caught between her intense feelings for the noble Sir Galahad and her growing friendship with the King. To fulfill the prophecy, Aliana will have to discover the meaning of friendship, bravery, loyalty, true love, and forgiveness. But can she do it all in time to save the realms from Mordrid's impending Armageddon?

J.L. Johnson (JanieOh) | 5 comments Hi all!
Thanks for the invite! I'm not at all sure I'm doing this right, but here's my new book:

http://www.amazon.com/Anger-Free-Folk...

Anger of the Free Folk

Anger and her people, known as the Free Folk, had traded with the domed cities for the first time only a few decades ago. The Free Folk traded the food the domed cities desperately needed to feed its starving populations, and the domed cities were forced to trade the only commodities the Free Folk wanted, the ancient books and painted masterpieces the corporation had hoarded in their warehouses for centuries.
They hadn’t always enjoyed such peaceful relations. The powerful corporation which owned and operated the cities feared the Free Folk. They’d dropped bombs from remote-controlled drones on their villages for generations. The corporation had only stopped the bombing when it became clear they needed the Free Folk for their food.
The Free Folk were immune to the flu that had wiped out most of humanity centuries ago. The corporation had built the domed cities to keep the people inside isolated from the flu.
The Free Folk had an open, self-sustaining society. They shared knowledge with whoever wanted to learn. And now it appeared there were a few residents of one domed city who were ready to learn…

Cayt Mirra | 2 comments Eugen opened a case and placed it on a bench where I could see it. It was full of syringes of varying sizes. The healers in Koraliss used syringes to treat the sick, but I had never seen such large ones. He picked one up and held it up to the light. It was full of an opaque blue liquid. It looked thick, like a gel, but when he pressed on the end of it, droplets the consistency of water spurted out the top. I squirmed, but my hands and legs were bound tightly to the table. I strained my neck, trying to keep Eugen in my eye line. He kept talking.

‘What we don’t know, is why you were running. The Chamber is very keen to find you, so either you stole something from them, or you have information. I suspect the latter. What I need from you today – I think you will find it is very reasonable – is for you to tell me exactly what it is you know, and why you were running from the Chamber. In return, I won’t insert this into your inner thigh.’

Justin Chandler | 5 comments Good evening, gents! I am Justin Chandler, a senior at Appalachian State University and as of this past December, an aspiring novelist. I recently self-published a Young Adult Sci-Fi novel called "The Guide."

"The Guide" depicts a rebellious high school freshman named Nicholas Forsythe who is given a mentor figure (known in canon as a guide) by his parents to curb his attitude and help him get on the right path towards college. What he and the other students in the program do no realize is that their guides know them quite well: they are their future counterparts sent back to improve the standards of the future timeline. Despite this, Nick and his guide Garron work through the guiding process, but when a familiar face threatens to expose the program to the other students and disrupt the entire course of history, it's up to the two to not only save their lives, but also the fate of the future.

Outside of reading, I enjoy hiking, binge-watching shows on Netflix (currently on Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) and practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

If you are curious about "The Guide," please visit the link below to see about getting a copy (ebooks are now just .99 cents) or go to my author page to receive an excerpt. And happy readings, guys!

Nicole Haston | 1 comments Mari's Musings Dot Net: a novel

Peek inside the hyper-observant, Ivy League-bound brain of Mari Thompson by reading her top secret blog, MarisMusings.Net. She’s a smart, black, sixteen-year-old girl, just on the cusp of fitting in, and she has a website full of anxiety-riddled thoughts to prove it.

Reeling from her parents’ separation, Mari adjusts to her new school by tutoring her frustratingly lazy neighbor and obsessing over his dangerously handsome best friend. Alongside her BFFs - a pop music-obsessed Mormon and a foul-mouthed jockette - Mari thinks she could almost be happy. It’s just that her father is dating a young blonde, her mother is guzzling red wine like Kool-Aid, the in-crowd expects her to be having loads of steamy sex, and she can’t shake that curious impulse to speak her mind whenever she sees the boy next door. After a very public heartbreak destroys the little social status she’s finally acquired, Mari must overcome her endless insecurities by making one decision that nobody can ignore.

Julie Hall (juliehallauthor) | 2 comments Hello Everyone! My novel is called Life After: Huntress.

Huntress is the first book in a trilogy. It just released late 2015. I you're interested in reading some reviews of the book, check out my Goodreads Author Page, or Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Huntress-Life-A...)

Also, the book is on sale for only $0.99 for Nook on B&N website for a limited time (http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/huntr...) You can download the free Nook app to read Huntress on your Apple or Android devices.

Here's a description of the book!

No one’s afterlife is as dispiriting as Audrey’s―at least that’s what she believes after waking up dead without her memories and being promptly assigned to hunt demons for the rest of eternity. She’s convinced God’s made a cosmic mistake; after all, she’d rather discuss the color of her nails than break them on angelic weapons.

It doesn’t help that her trainer, Logan, is as infuriating as he is attractive. And just when Audrey and Logan appear close to developing an amicable relationship, a decision made under duress pushes their hearts in a direction neither of them saw coming.

Despite her sub-par fighting abilities, an ancient weapon of unparalleled power chooses Audrey as its wielder, attracting the cautious gazes of her fellow hunters and the attention of Satan himself. With Satan’s eyes now fixed on Audrey, a battle for the safety of the living looms in the shadows.

My novel, The Dead Man Story, is written for middle school readers, particularly boys who are 'reluctant readers.' I lived and worked in NYC for many years and some of the crazy stories that I've accumulated over the years appear in the book. I wrote the book with the encouragement of my students (I teach 6th grade ELA) who love my 'Mr. Conley stories.' If you're looking for something different please give it a try and let me know what you think. It's available on Amazon for Kindle or in paperback.

Roberta Worthington | 2 comments Hi everyone!
Relic is my first novel intended for kids between 6th and 9th grades. It's a coming of age story about finding friends and standing up for those who have no voice of their own. There's just enough mystery and ghosts in it to keep you turning the pages, and even a little history thrown in. Adults are even liking it. You can find it on amazon, or it's linked on my author blog at http://RobertaWorthington.blogspot.com. Give it a read and a review!

I'm also looking for young adult and middle grade authors to interview on my blog about their books and their writing process. If you're interested, please contact me. I'd send you some simple questions via email and then post your answers, photo and book cover on my site.

Taylor Fenner (taylorfenner) | 11 comments Enter the clearing and your life will change forever...

Seventeen-year-old Lizette Weatherly’s life is about to change forever.

Lizette is a girl who really can’t catch a break. Her parents are overprotective of her and her peers are afraid of her.

Two centuries ago Lizette's ancestor Jacob and his family disappeared without a trace. All that were found were bloody clothes and mysterious symbols etched into the ground in a clearing near their old house.

Lizette’s family have been ostracized by the people in the nearby city of Marquette, Michigan ever since. Lizette spends most of her time alone with her old set of tarot cards in her house back in the woods where the sun never shines; until one night when she wanders off into the woods and stumbles upon a group of hooded figures standing around a bonfire.

Lizette soon learns that everything she knew is a lie. She and her family are really descended from a long line of creatures called Eternals, possessing paranormal powers, and she may be the most powerful Eternal alive. For the first time in her life, Lizette has friends and potentially a boyfriend in shifter Thierry. But Bryan, the leader of her generation of the Eternals, is power hungry and he will do anything to absorb Lizette’s power.

A battle is brewing and Lizette will have to join together with the other Eternals to overpower Bryan. But when a mysterious prophecy is revealed and her fate becomes entwined with shy, brooding, secretive Luke, Lizette begins to question: who can she really trust and who really has her heart? What will happen when it’s time to step out of the darkness?

E.D. Alvarez (e_d_alvarez) | 1 comments I wrote a YA short fiction that's available on amazon. It's currently ranked #4 in its category under Self-Esteem and Self-Respect. It's less than 12,000 words and its FREE UNTIL APRIL 27,2016.

The short story is called Befriending Shadows and is the story of an ordinary and unexceptional stray cat who discovers that there is actually a lot more to him than just striving to survive another day. Take the journey with him to change how the world sees him, how he sees himself, and discover what it means to live a life worth living.

The first review the story has ever received read, "It really hits close to home and it's such a good read. It's just honestly quite beautiful the way you so vividly portray the cat and how you effortlessly portray possibly the largest group of people that feel like they are, quite frankly, unloved and unwanted and to be reassured in such a whimsical and thoughtful way is very comforting."

Hi All. As the author of seven Y.A. novels, I've "grown up" to adult fiction and historical fiction. But I feel like that actor in the movie, "The Godfather" (I think): "Every time I try to get out, they pull me back in." In today's NY Daily News review of my new historical novel, THE WOMAN IN THE PHOTO, the reviewer wrote that I "Seamlessly bounce from 1889 to present day to tell the coming-of-age tale of..." Love the word "seamless" but wonder if every novel with a teenage main character (my two main characters are 18) is destined for the "coming-of-age" label. Nothing wrong with a gripping teenage tale. Just wondering....

Christi Whitney (christijwhitney) | 3 comments Hi, everyone!

I'm Christi J. Whitney, author of the YA fantasy series The Romany Outcasts, which is currently being published with HarperCollinsUK.

Shadow (Just released)
Midnight (2017)

Book Blurb for Grey:

Can you still love with a heart of stone?

Sebastian Grey always thought he was a fairly normal teenager – good friends, decent grades and a pretty sweet job in his foster brother’s tattoo shop.

But when Romany gypsies arrive in town, Sebastian discovers that his world is not what it seems. There is an age-old feud between his family and the gypsies – and this isn’t the only secret his brother has been keeping from him. His life is not his own. The girl he’s been dreaming about has just turned up at school, and he feels compelled to protect her at all costs.

Even if that means life might never be normal again.

E. Ardell (eardell) | 1 comments Hi, I'm Eboni!

My first novel is titled The Fourth Piece. It is the first book in a series called Order's Last Play.

Admitting what you are will end everything you know. Embracing who you are will start a war...

Life is great when you’re good-looking and popular…so long as no one knows you’re a vulatto. Being half-alien gets you labeled “loser” quicker than being a full vader. So it’s a good thing Devon, Lyle, and Lawrence can easily pass for human—until the night of the party. Nothing kills a good time faster than three brothers sharing a psychic vision of a fourth brother who’s off-world and going to die unless they do something. But when your brother’s emergency happens off-planet, calling 9-1-1 really isn’t an option.

In their attempt to save a brother they barely remember, Devon, Lyle and Lawrence expose themselves to mortal danger and inherit a destiny that killed the last four guys cursed with it. In 2022, there are humans and aliens, heroes and monsters, choices and prophecies—and four brothers with the power to choose what’s left when the gods decide they’re through playing games.

If you would like an e-book ARC of the book in exchange for an honest review, please message me or send an email to: e.ardell.author@gmail.com.

Thanks!

Rita Chapman | 567 comments Winston - a Horse's Tale is for horse lovers of all ages, but it often defined as YA. If you love horses, this one is for you.

Winston is a good-looking palomino horse whose life involves several different owners and many adventures. As you read his story, told by Winston himself, you will appreciate horse ownership from the horse’s point of view. Born on a country property in Australia, Winston tells of his breaking-in and education and the different people he encounters – good, bad and ignorant. As well as his own story, Winston includes the experiences of other horses he meets along life’s way.

Whether it’s jumping, eventing, hunting or just hacking, Winston tries hard to please his rider. Follow his successes and his failures from his breaking-in to his show jumping win. It is an eventful life – the story of one Australian horse out of thousands, but one that you will remember.
