Donna (donnaoldfield) | 2 comments Hi there,

I very recently published my first YA superhero fantasy novel Out Of Time by Donna Marie Oldfield.

US link: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LOVXEU2
UK link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00LOVXEU2

The blurb: A superhero, dystopian adventure.

Scarlett Shortt is just an average 18-year-old girl, but then her life takes an extraordinary turn following a road accident. She wakes up to find that the world has twisted beyond recognition – everything is very dark and different now and a bunch of teenagers she’s never met before claim to be her best friends. The group can do amazing things, such as fly, read minds and control electricity, and Scarlett is shocked to learn that she has special powers too.

The reluctant superhero soon finds herself caught up in their mission to make the world a better place and overthrow the evil prime minister, Adam Goulden. Will she learn how to use her powers in time to face their dangerous adversaries and will she ever discover exactly where she is and how she got there?

Out Of Time is the first book in a continuing series.

A prequel novella Super Unknown: An Out Of Time prequel is also available if you fancy trying a 99c taster of my work first. Thank you!

T.C. McKee | 4 comments Hi Everyone!

My debut, The Bone Treaty is now available. The Bone Treaty by T.C. McKee

From the back cover:

A power as old as King Solomon awakens when a seventeen-year-old girl marks the brooding hot abductor ordered to seize her.

Addie Heaton’s not your average high school student. Orphaned at two, she’s spent most of her life reading the emotions of others. It’s a little trick she likes to call color-vision. But lately, a stranger has been trailing her, putting off shades of black and red—colors Addie hasn’t seen since the night her parents were killed—colors Addie never wanted to see again.
But when Addie comes face to face with Conal Reed, owner of the terrifying shades, she learns her stranger’s a little different too. He’s brooding hot, mysterious, and all too elusive. Conal loves to materialize, and then vanish at all the wrong times. Nice.
Not.
After years of keeping her ability a secret, Addie’s found another person with gifts, someone who may know what she really is. But Conal’s not talking. He’s having more fun showing up uninvited, teasing her senses, and disappearing at all the wrong times. Instead of finding answers, Addie finds herself reconsidering ever being alone and naked again.

Alex Flynn | 4 comments Hi, I'm Stu. I write YA books with my wife Elisabeth under the pen name Alex Flynn.

Our new series is called The Misshapes The Misshapes by Alex Flynn

Here's the synopsis:
Doolittle Falls is no ordinary town, and fifteen-year-old Sarah Robertson is no ordinary girl - she can control the weather with her emotions. But in a town where superheroes walk the streets (and fly over them), Sarah's third-rate powers aren't enough to secure her a spot in the prestigious Hero Academy, not to mention the fact that her recently vanished mother has become the town's most notorious Supervillain and the archnemesis of America’s favorite Hero, Freedom Man. Instead of acceptance to the school of her dreams, Sarah is marked as an outcast with powers – a Misshape.

Sarah is stuck at public school, with a rag-tag group of fellow Misshapes and the happily ordinary Normals. Determined to fly under the radar, Sarah’s forced into a special class for Misshapes, where she meets other people with odd powers: a kid who shoots paintballs out his eyes, a girl who can talk to the animals (the squirrels never have much to say), and a boy who is followed around by backup singer ghosts, The Spectors (like all girl groups, they are obsessed with the postman).

Despite this setback, Sarah is determined to take charge of her powers and win a place at Hero Academy with the rest of the superhero elite. Yet the path to Hero greatness doesn't exactly run smoothly. Her brother's recent rebellious streak is starting to wear thin, she has an intriguing (and smoking hot) new mentor, and an unexpected romance blooms with the Romeo to her Juliet, Hero dreamboat, Freedom Boy. Sarah is ecstatic when a mysterious figure offers to fulfill Sarah’s Academy dreams, until she learns he has been stoking anti-Misshape sentiment in the town. When the Misshapes come under attack, Sarah will have to make a choice between her friends and her destiny.

Katrina (katrinaarcher) | 3 comments Hello,

My name's Katrina Archer and I've recently release a YA fantasy (or, more accurately, a Renaissance dystopia): Untalented.

Untalented by Katrina Archer

Untalented. Unwanted. Unbroken.

Saroya:

Untalented, a stain on her family’s honour. Orphaned and barred from the Guilds, she has nowhere to go when her Talent fails to emerge.

Loric:

Brother-in-law to the king. Thwarted in his ambitions, he’d do anything to usurp the throne. And he finds just the scandal he needs when he unearths Saroya’s hidden pedigree.

The Kingdom of Veyle:

Where all power flows to the Talented, and where the Guilds and the Order of Adepts control the destinies of Talented and Untalented alike.

When calamity strikes the capital city, with Untalents blamed and on trial, Saroya knows that proving her Talent and parentage means saving more than just her own life. A tangle of lies hides secrets that force Saroya to choose between her future and Veyle’s.

It's available in print, Kindle, and ePub editions. Here's a complete listing on where to find it: http://ganachemedia.com/books/untalen...

If any one is interested in digital review copies, please send me a private message.

Happy reading and nice to meet you all!

L.A. Starkey (lastarkey) | 10 comments Hi everyone!! I published by debut novel, "Deceived" from my Soul Keeper Series today. Very excited about getting to know you guys!!

Deceived, (Soul Keeper Series I) by L.A. Starkey
Deceived,

They say a soul is the immaterial essence, the animating principal, the actuating cause of an individual life.

But what if you had to share yours with the one person you hated the most?

The soul mate principal states that for every one soul there is another that will recognize its match, hence creating the perfect union.

But what if you had two soul mates, which would you choose?

What if your choices had eternal ramification?

Deceived, the debut novel in the Soul Keeper Series, is a modern day love story about the implications of having more than one soul mate, and having to choose between the two of them. The decisions of the gods has left the next generation, their heirs, torn between fate and reality, and the balance of the future hangs in anticipation of what's to come.

Konstantina (konstantinakoraki) Hello :)

A YA fantasy novel

“I am afraid that the building can react unexpectedly, we don't really know what it is hidden inside it. We mustn't forget that its temperament and its powers are constantly developing from the incidents and the feelings of its environment.”
“So, I guess our feelings aren't strong enough...”

“No, they aren't. Our feelings are usually stable. Our nature regarding emotions is simpler..."

Andariasmeni is a girl who dreams a lot. During her dreams she meets creatures that look a lot like humans and experiences many adventures. She becomes a Queen, saves a sailor and finds herself inside a whale. There, she meets a talking seagull, a captain and two ladies from a past era. However, whenever Andariasmeni wakes up, she faces a tough reality, more bizarre even than her dreams.
Andariasmeni lives in a town where everyday people try to climb on living buildings. These buildings are fed by negative feelings, so they torture their climbers. Andariasmeni considers this kind of life miserable and is trying to find out why all this is happening. Still, everyone seems to be avoiding the discussion. Grandmother Efthalia is distant and never explains why Andariasmeni's parents are missing, her teacher is strict, the school Headmasters try to make her adjust to this completely regulated and controlled environment and her friends think differently from her.
One day, she decides to go to the buildings and confront them all by herself assuming that no one will help her. Nonetheless, her friends from both reality and imagination will look for her and they will all meet up at the biggest and meanest of the buildings, where an extraordinary battle among humans, creatures and buildings will take place. A battle which is different but still very much vicious, even if it isn’t fought with guns but with strange keys, emotions and sounds.

Brian Yansky | 4 comments Hi,

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

My YA novel comes out early next year (Candlewick Feb/2015). I hope you'll consider adding it to your to-read list.
It's a combination of supernatural, paranormal, mystery, and ghost story set in the small town of Utopia, Iowa ... In some ways this is a story about an average teenage boy with normal teenage problems: school problems and girl problems and a dream that he wants to pursue but is afraid of pursing(to write for the movies). But there's also the fact that he sees ghosts, comes from a family that sees ghosts, lives in a town where supernatural events are common, and finds himself at the center of an investigation into the death of two dead girls because those two dead girls are pressuring him to find out how they died. Lots going on, and many threats to his safety and well-being, but at its heart this is the novel about a boy who wants to write for the movies and knows he will have to leave his hometown, family, and friends to pursue that dream.

Thanks for reading this. Brian

YA fantasy

Sixteen-year old Toby was trained by a family of hunters to kill shape-shifters — but he has a unique weapon in his arsenal. With a touch of his hand, Toby can lift the magical protection shape-shifters use to disguise themselves as human. It’s an unusual skill for a hunter, and he prefers to kill monsters the old-fashioned way: with a blade.

Because of his special skill, Toby suspects he may be a monster himself. His suspicions deepen when William, a jackal-headed shape-shifter, saves him from an ambush where Toby’s the only survivor. And Toby doubts William helped him for purely altruistic reasons. With his list of allies running thin, Toby must reconcile his hatred of shifters and the damning truth that one saved his life. It’ll take both of them to track down the monster who ordered the ambush.

And Toby needs his unlikely alley because he has a vicious enemy — the infamous Circe, who has a vendetta to settle against the hunters. Toby has to unravel the mystery of his dual nature. And he has to do it on the run — before Circe finds him and twists him to her own ends.

D.A. | 13 comments Dear dystopian fiction lovers! Here is my new book:

Federation City by D.A. Clark
D.A. Clark
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

The Federation established a lasting peace after the Toxic Era. But that peace is threatened when teenage boys begin to disappear. In his quest for a missing friend, Taren is forced to leave Federation City and travel to the Hinterlands. There he discovers the horrible secret behind the Federation's peacekeeping tactics and encounters a new society that challenges everything he has ever known. Due to its sexual content, this book may not be appropriate for younger readers.

Here are some recent reviews:

I love the premise of this book - the author keeps the story firmly within the bounds of the Dystopian genre, but there are certain twists and tweaks that I thought were quite creative and insightful. Furthermore, for a book whose plot contains so many sexual themes, I feel that intimate scenes were approached with both realism and delicacy. There are adult themes here for sure, but they're not grotesquely overwritten in far too much detail, nor are they flippantly tossed away with a euphemism or two. I find that especially impressive for a new writer, considering that a lot of seasoned, published authors seem to write extremely awkward sex scenes. (4 STARS)

A GREAT read!! The fascinating characters take you on a fast-paced, thought provoking journey. I can't wait for the sequel. (5 STARS)

A captivating spin on your typical dystopian novel, Federation City touches on issues of race, gender, and politics that permit adults to enjoy a genre often reserved for teens. This book is a real page-turner. I couldn't help but get caught up in the story and wonder what would happen next. I look forward to more books in this series. Fair warning - there is some strong sexual content, but it is worked skillfully into the story and did not distract. The characters and dialogue are very relatable, and I would recommend this novel even to those who may think that dystopian literature is not their cup of tea. (4 STARS)

Natalia (nataliajaster) Touch by Natalia Jaster

Hey there! My name's Natalia, and I wrote a YA mythology romance called TOUCH. It's about a female Eros who's forced to pair up the mortal boy she loves with another mortal girl. Here's the summary:

The myth of Eros isn’t the truth. Her story is the truth . . .

Love is an immortal bad girl. With a strike of her arrow and a smirk on her face, she pins human hearts together against their will. It’s for their own good, of course—silly, clueless creatures that they are.

But Love has never loved. Not until the Fates parcel her off to a small, frostbitten town littered with needy souls. Not until she crosses paths with Andrew, a crippled boy whose gaze locks onto hers. Yet how can this be? Mortals don’t have the power to see deities.

The longer they’re friends, the more Love wishes she could touch Andrew. In gentle ways. In other tempting and reckless ways as well.

It’s impossible. She isn’t a true part of his world. She’s an outsider whose fingers will only ever sweep through him. A mischievous, invisible goddess who’s destined to be alone. And he’s destined for someone else. By order of the Fates, it’s Love’s duty to betray his trust. To seal his heart while ignoring the gash in her own.

Or she could become human. For there is one very tricky, very dangerous way to do so.

If only Andrew felt the same about her, it might be worth the risk.

*Mature YA. Intended for readers 17 and older*

Thanks and have a lovely autumn!

She has spent her life erasing her past, changing her appearance and name, and running from city to city to stay hidden from the Bolshov Organization, the most dangerous section of the Russian Mafia.
Now, after years in witness protection, they have found her again. When her house explodes with her family inside, Dorothy must use every survival skill she’s ever learned to escape, to outlive, to outlast. Because she knows they are coming . . .

Ben Wise I'm Ben Wise. I written two works so far.

Crimson is my debut, an urban fantasy thriller aimed at older readers:
Crimson by Ben Wise

I thought I had been abandoned into a world that despises my kind. Instead, today I find myself trapped in the center of a hidden war thought long ended; a bloody underground guerilla war between an oppressed psychic minority and violent government fanatics utterly opposed to my kind.

Now I'm constantly on the run from those looking to kill me, searching for family I never knew existed in a world where morality is more black than white.

Set in the near future of an alternative world where those children born psychic are feared, abandoned and worse, Eve discovers she is different even to those psychic minority, as feared and hated within the psychic community, as she wears decades of historical blame based on barely remembered factional hatred. From the moment the first trigger is pulled, Crimson is an unrelenting exploration how in the face of pure evil, of black morality, the good guys aren't always pure white. And any moment Eve tries to catch her breath she is quickly interrupted as she's driven toward the end.

My second story, Feathers Fall, went online only yesterday and is a coming of age story set in 90's Australia:
Feathers Fall by Ben Wise

To Sam Price, the falls were a hiding place to escape the world. A quiet spot to burn the school holidays away. So when he headed to the falls that day, he never expected to find her there. She, Kate Rees, the best friend of his crush. With a gun pointed at herself. It's not how you'd expect to meet your first love. Nor how you'd expect a lesson on the truly beautiful to start.

But the hardest lessons in life leave us yearning for answers that take us beyond the path our innocence can bear.

Pam (pamstucky) | 6 comments The Universes Inside the Lighthouse by Pam Stucky

Hi, all! I have a new YA sci-fi adventure series, The Balky Point Adventures.

First book in the series is The Universes Inside the Lighthouse.

Description:

Two teenagers on a summer vacation on an unassuming island ...
A mysterious girl who appears in photographs taken decades apart ...
A science lab set up in a place that exists both nowhere and everywhere ...
A storage closet that is far more than it seems ...
A parallel Earth, exactly like our own ...
A universe made up entirely of ghosts ...
An entity that is taking over innocent lives and infiltrating the universes ...

Adventure, mystery, travel through space and time to find a man who seeks to rip the universes apart. Reminiscent of A Wrinkle in Time with just a dash of Doctor Who ...

and it all begins … inside the lighthouse.

Seventeen-year-old Emma and her twin brother Charlie think they’re in for a boring summer vacation. That is, until Emma notices something unusual in the lighthouse lobby. Unraveling this mystery proves to be just the beginning of an adventure that will take Emma, Charlie, and their unlikely new friends to distant planets, throughout the multiverse, and to a place where everything is possible ... and will ultimately lead Emma to discover the unfathomable powers that reside within her own mind.

Debra Dockter | 4 comments Hi to all my fellow YA fans and authors!

It's so great to connect wit you here. My debut YA Sci-Fi medical thriller, Deadly Design, is due out June 2nd with Putnam/Penguin.

It's about identical twins born two years apart. Having been created in a lab, both are genetically altered to be more attractive, smarter, and more athletic than the average teen. The younger brother (unaware of the genetic altering) knows he can never live up the accomplishments of his older brother. He thinks being born second was like losing the coin toss, that is until all the babies created at the New Genesis lab start dying on their eighteenth birthdays. Now he has two years to find out what happened in the lab and find their mysterious creator before he becomes another attractive, intelligent, blue-eyed corpse.

Happy reading and writing!

James E. | 11 comments I wrote my first book! It's called The Bad Present. It's a funny story told from the viewpoint of an awkward twelve-year-old boy who loses the instructions for a box his father gave him, and now the world is about to end. He spends a very bad year trying to figure it all out, and along the way, learns a few things about life. Would love to hear what people think. You can find a preview here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Also, if you'd like to review, I'd be happy to send you a free copy in whatever format you'd like.
