I started and finished this one yesterday:

He's written so many books and comics, but I've only read a handful of them, so I'm probably not the best person to ask. I read this one via audio at the beginning of the year and I really liked it. Maybe you would too? The Conqueror Worms
.His zombie series which starts with
.I've heard that this book helped make zombies popular again. (I think this came out a bit before The Walking Dead comics/show became popular.) I've read the first two and enjoyed them.
I just finished Cunning Folk and I hate to say I was not all that impressed. I wanted to be, but It just did not work for me. It dragged too much.
Anno Dracula by Kim Newman
Really fun mashup of countless characters from Gothic fiction of the past. I know the book predates this, but sometimes I felt like I was watching a long episode of
.
i am so obsessed with this collection. the spooky vibes were so good, and there were so many genuinely scary stories in here. i had weird dreams and everything. highly recommend.
Nice, Rachel. That's one I haven't read yet. I finished Ravenous Ghosts by Kealan Patrick Burke. This was a great bunch of dark tales and I enjoyed it.
Recently finished Fleshbait by David Holman
My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
A fun pulpy creature feature of Paperbacks from Hell: The Twisted History of '70s and '80s Horror Fiction! fame!
I finished Sign Here by Claudia Lux
A very original story with very original settings and characters. Here's my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
It's in fact part horror, part fantasy, part thriller, part humor...

So, a reference guide to a lot of recent Horror that has been worth the investment. Even The Grief Hole was more like a 3.5 star book rounded down (something eventually had to get a lowish rating; and nothing so far has been a bad read for me).
Since I finished King's Fairy Tale, I've read:
4* (It was a little YA for me, but it was delightful)
This was from the same book that Two Envelopes mentioned above. He also recommended it to me. 4*I re-listened to
. 5* again.
was pretty damn good. 4*
Just finished
and it is excellent. I highly recommendAlso finished
, because I can never read too much of The Dresden Files.

ended up being about a 3.5 star read for me. the intro was cool, but it dragged really hard in the middle. wasn't really satisfied with the ending because it left a lot of unanswered questions.
I finished the short gothic suspense novel

I think I gave that the same rating! Maybe even less, and that is rare for me. I hated that book.

I want to read Motherthing!
The only authors of those that I recognize is Lord Dunsany. You've certainly read a LOT in the last year, my friend!
Char wrote: "The only authors of those that I recognize is Lord Dunsany. You've certainly read a LOT in the last year, my friend!"Oh c'mon, you've heard of Jack London. H G Wells.
Char wrote: "I want to read Motherthing!" It's so good, Char!! I really enjoyed my reading experience :)
Just finished
.It was just okay for me. I know most in this group loved it; but the MC sucks. The vampires were awesome, and Arkeley was great. Great action scenes and violence; but that damned Laura.... ugh
I finished Westlake Soul
by Rio Youers and it was unbelievably great. ALL THE DAMN STARS.
Also, I spent half the night weeping for poor Wes.
Char wrote: "I think I gave that the same rating! Maybe even less, and that is rare for me. I hated that book...."Aww, sorry you didn't like it Char. I thought The Woman in Black was good as far as setting and atmosphere, but I've read better stories.
read this in one sitting this morning! a very gross, but enjoyable read + i had a lot of fun with it. :)

I finished this audio over the weekend: Pack
by Mike Bockoven, author of
.Unfortunately, I didn't find PACK to be as good as Fantasticland. I gave it 3 stars.

I really enjoyed the first 4-5 of this series. I haven't finished the entire series. Yet.

Yay! That's one of my all time favorites. Vampires on a steamship on the Mississippi River. It made me a GRRM fan for life. Well, that one and The Sandkings.

NICE! thanks for rec. I’ll check this out.
this one had a shaky start for me, but it didn't take long before i was completely enthralled. very fun read that gave me strong house of leaves vibes.
gave this one a 3.5 rounded to a 4. it had some tropes that i thought were annoying + it was slower than i liked, but i love malfi's characters + the underlying themes.
