If you’re on Facebook maybe you could make a request with Evil Cookie Press. They’ve been republishing his work and I believe something new.

Char | 17457 comments I finished Ron Malfi's Ghostwritten Ghostwritten by Ronald Malfi . It was a collection of four novellas, all of which were book related.
There are a few Malfi's I haven't read yet, but of what I've read from him so far? This is the best.

Oh, good. I just picked that up. The prospect of novellas I could pick off whenever I want was appealing. Also, ghosts.

I might have to get that one!
I read another from Valancourt that I just finished last week:
A Different Darkness and Other Abominations by Luigi Musolino and it was beyond good.

message 465: by inciminci (new)

inciminci | 649 comments That's next on my list, Char, good to hear you liked it that much. Valancourt is going to be the financial ruin of me, but I don't mind.

Yeah, I figured the reading was going to be tough due to the subject matter. I'd probably grab it from the library.

There could have been a little more horror, especially (view spoiler) but it was definitely very entertaining.

Christopher Conlon (goodreadscomchristopherconlon) | 530 comments Four Octobers Four Octobers by Rick Hautala by Rick Hautala. I generally love novella collections (Charles L. Grant is a favorite), but these stories were all overlong, needlessly detailed, slow as molasses and downright dull. My first Hautala book shall be, alas, my last.

I was awed by the title story and "On Skua Island," then Langan went off in other directions that I found less compelling. I wonder if, knowing now that those stories weren't in the same vein, I'd be more appreciative.

Did you not care for The Fisherman? I liked the same story you did as well as quite a few others. The thing with this collection though, is that it's very dense. Page after page of solid text with very little dialogue. Which is fine, but it gets daunting at times...I found I had to take a break between stories.
