I find reading a couple of stories at a time and I feel like I need to step away. There always seems to be something left to chew on after reading one. Not speaking specifically about this collection, "The Hospice," "The Inner Room," "The Visiting Star" and "Ringing the Changes" are excellent stories.
Recently finished The Final Girl Support Group by Grady Hendrix. Strong, strong novel.
Currently reading The Supernatural Enhancements by Edgar Cantero and enjoying it quite a bit.

I enjoyed the collection but as you say Randy, there’s something to think about after reading one.
Recently finished The Ghost that Ate Us by Daniel Kraus

They Thirst
A modern-day penny dreadful—enormously fun to read. I don’t know why it’s not better-known than certain other contemporary vampire “classics” I could name.

I loved this book as well!

They Thirst was a blast!
I recently finished up
and
and they both were 5 star reads for me.I also finished listening to McCammon's latest:
,k which was good, but as awesome as I had hoped.
The Innswich Horror - Edward Lee
Really fun, pulpy sequel-of-sorts to Lovecraft's "The Shadow Over Innsmouth."
Three Miles Past by Stephen Graham Jones. I listened to the new audio edition and enjoyed the hell out of it. This one was much darker than what I've come to expect from SGJ.

I enjoyed it! Review is up now.
Malfi is one of those authors who seems to consistently deliver, imo.

A good, page-turning sort of read, as expected from this reliable writer. But it was a mite overlong and the ending wasn’t totally satisfactory. Call it a 3.5.
Hell Train - Christopher Fowler
What a total delight this novel is! Anyone who loves vintage Hammer Studio horror films or stories set on trains--and I love both--needs to read this.

That series has been on my TBR since it first started. Story of my life, really.

I really enjoyed it, too. It's a good story wrapped around an affection for and understanding of what Hammer did and was good at, while occasionally poking fun at same.
Char wrote: "That series has been on my TBR since it first started. Story of my life, really."ha ha, i relate so hard to that. the first one had been on my tbr for a while. i started organizing my tbr shelf by page count so i could knock out a bunch of the shorter reads + my library recently made the whole series available digitally. now i wish i'd taken the time to read them sooner because i'm enjoying them so much. :D
Koko by Peter Straub. Not exactly horror, but also not exactly not horror. A really great book and the first in a very good trilogy.

I'd recommend

Ooooh, Severed looks awesome! I believe that is the author of the American Vampire comics. Damn, Rotters looks great too. I've read some Daniel Kraus, (most recently
, which was a ton of fun!) Thanks for sharing!
