Wow, I only follow Agatha Christie's series. Not really into series myself, I'm more like authors killer, lol. But I think I'll read some of her books for the annual challenge, if I can't find any substitution.

Her books cover a wide range of places and settings. Even some of the covers could apply. Death on the Nile may apply for the river setting in Museum 12. My copy of The Big Four has chess pieces on it, including a horse and my copy of The A.B.C. Murders has a picture of Mr. Poirot with a hat.

What are your top series for the year, Cherie? I have a couple of orphans I need to kill off and may need to reread a couple of books in order to finish (re-start) some series.

I think everyone is wondering when the last Kingkiller book will finally be released. I've decided to wait to read the second one until the final one is at least close to actually being published and I will start by rereading the first. Maybe we can all do a series buddy read if he ever finishes it. I'm sure there are a few of us that would be interested, although they are pretty long so maybe not everyone will be interested in rereading.

Yes, I really do need to get back to the Discworld books. I have three of them written into my museum yearly challenge tasks.

I think this is year five now. I just can’t seem to leave off the series and declaring them dead gives me great satisfaction!!

I am not sure what you want to know - what are the top series I am looking forward to reading this year?

I am really looking forward to the fourth book in the Lady Astronaut series and the third book in Rampart Trilogys. I also want to listen to more of the Anne Rice Vampire Chronicles books. I have been waiting a couple of months for my library to get the 6th one. Outlander #7 is on my museum challenge for longest book.

I would like to finish up a few of the trilogies I have on the list and other than that, I have quite a few orphans to read.

Yeah! Death on Nile may fit the Egypt task as well, and my copy of Partner in Crime has diamond on the cover. But I need to ask Janice first whether an illustration counts as jewelry or not. I hope I can read some of Mrs. Marple's books next year

Dawn - I am all caught up with the Finch books except for a few of the short stories that are only available on Kindle. I am definitely waiting for book #14 to be released next year.

After you reminded me, I decided to re-listen to The Inheritance. I had purchased the audiobook from Audible. It was one of my most favorite of the series. I love Charles Lenox.

I just updated my current series list. I finished the Charlotte Holmes series by Brittany Cavallaro Dec 29th.
If the author publishes any more they will be read as orphans.

So, how many of the series listed in message 2 do you think you'll be able to knock off in 2021? Just looking at the list and the remaining books to be read, you'd have to read about 200 books to knock them all off. You can do it..

Welllll - my "plan" is to try to kill off some of the trilogies and shorter series. I already have the third book in The Passage trilogy slotted into the museum challenge.
I have two Clifton Chronicles books there too. I own books for a few others and have thrown them in, where I could (She #2 and Outlander #7).

I have four No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency books that will be read as orphans in my museum challenge. I might have a few other orphans too, as they are published in 2021. My bigger issue will be trying NOT to add too many more new series this year. I think I have at least four "first-in-series" books on my museum challenge that I have owned and never got around to reading yet.

I started the second book in the old, old series called She, Ayesha: The Return of She.

I also downloaded the seventh Outlander audiobook, An Echo in the Bone.

Good thing I finished listening to Ready Player Two yesterday. Got my five stars!

I finished reading Ayesha: The Return of She tonight. I would really like to go on with the next book, She and Allan but I can wait. Although it was the third story published, it is actually the first story of “She” but #11 in the Allan Quartermain series. I want to know more of Allan than what occurred in King Solomon’s Gold.

I don’t know why I never wrote a review for She. I see that I gave it three stars. After finishing the second story tonight, I gave it four stars. I really did like it better but I am not exactly sure why. It was a much longer story. On reflection, it felt that the first one was a much more primitive story. This one, although more drawn out, was better written and had a better conclusion.

I am currently reading Miss Buncle's Book, which is the first book in what looks like a three book series. I am enjoying it, although, I normally like a little more action.

I am a little over 50% in An Echo in the Bone.
It may be the longest story I read/listen to this year, but I love every minute of it. The Revolutionary War stuff is really interesting from this series POV, especially with the dates and some of the fighting and people involved.
I want to read more about Fort Ticonderoga.

I finished listening to all 40+ hrs of An Echo in the Bone for M9 as my chunkster book.
Yeah, I cannot help giving these books 5 stars. I love the history, the characters, the medical stuff, the love story - all of it. I put book #8 on hold. Looks like I may get it sometime in the next three months. I cannot believe it will be the last book. I guess I will have to start on the Lord John Gray stories.

Miss Buncle has taken a turn for the better. There is a little more action now and some very funny things are happening. I have had to look up several words that I have not really noticed before.

I am starting A Natural History of Dragons in audiobook tonight. I have a hard copy, but the audiobook was available. Kate Reading is a little hit and miss sometimes, so I have back up.

Kate always seems to grate on my ears after a while. You've had a great start to the year Cherie, well done on the chuckster. I'm rereading Gone with the Wind but I'm taking it slow 🐌

Sometimes slow is good, Margo. I remember that it took me a long while to read it all those years ago. I think Shogan was the same. I loved every long minute. 😊

Kate’s voice grates on me at times but the Lady Trent story is being told from an old woman’s POV, so it fits the story line. I could speed up the audio, I know but I am content with it so far.

I finished A Natural History of Dragons -audiobook with text as back-up. I am adding it to my series list. I have already downloaded the next book in the series to listen to, after I am done with Perdido Street Station. I did not like John Lee at first, but I have gotten used to his voice and style and do not notice it so much anymore. I have a text copy and will review it for names, etc, after the audiobook is done. I may have to think about the next book. Strange is probably not enough to say about the story nor the characters.

I finished Miss Buncle's Book and may have to add her to my series list too, after I see if/where I can find the next books. She is not burning up my attention span, but she was a nice lady. There are two more books to hunt down.

I will be starting The Colors of All the Cattle for my next museum book.

I didn't love Perdido Street Station but it was a good story. I listended to the audiobook, narrated by John Lee

I started reading The Colors of All the Cattle and listening to The Tropic of Serpents.

I abandoned Perdido Street after about 30%. John Lee is good though.

Margo - I almost quit about then too, but it picked up after that. Either that, or I just got better at figuring out what was going on. I think I could listen to it again at some future time.

I finished The Tropic of Serpents and have requested the third book in the series, The Voyage of the Basilisk. I think the 2nd book was a much better story than the first book, but then, the first book was introducing the characters etc.

I am reading the second Miss Buncle book, Miss Buncle Married. My library does not own the third book but I am going to request that they buy it. B&N wants $11.99 for it.

I downloaded The Alexandria Link, which has been on my TBR since 2014. It is on my museum challenge.

It would fit Museum 4, About - read a book that is the 2nd in a series. I already used this task to post a book.

I am sorry to hear about Perdido, This is by ab author I enjoy, I may still give it a read. But it will be from the library not a purchase.

Renee - I am going to keep my paperback book for a future read. I find reading a story after I listened to an audiobook version makes a better connection for me, especially when there are very strange words and character names and I didn’t particularly like the narrator. PSS was my first real book by this author. The only other story I had read by him was Un-Lun-Dun. Very juvenile but entertaining.

I finished reading The Colors of all the Cattle, #19 in the No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series. This is an orphan read and goes on my museum challenge. I have #20 and #21 to read to be caught up with the series.

Now, I can start The Alexandria Link.

I finished The Alexandria Link this morning before I decided to sit down at my desk and go to work. I have update my list with the so far published number, knowing that #16 is supposed to be published later this year. I see that another book, published in 2018 has been listed as #1 in the chronological order of the books in this series. Since I could not remember anything from The Templar Legacy, I guess it will not hurt me to read The Bishop's Pawn first.

I have added the first book in the Cassiopea Vitt series to my "first-in-series-to-read" shelf.

I finished listening to The Voyage of the Basilisk and reported it to my museum challenge (one of a series of 5 books).

I also downloaded and listened to and finished The Last Passenger. This book is an orphan for the Charles Lenox Mysteries. It has a train on the cover, so I used it for my museum challenge too.

I am currently listening to the #4 book in the Lady Trent series, In the Labyrinth of Drakes. This book has Labyrinth in the title, but is not on the Lystopia list specified in the challenge. I request it be added to the list. ;o)

Miss Buncle Married has been mostly a ho hum read, but it hit an "oh, shit" moment last night. I had to go to bed before I could read on to see what is going to happen next.

I finished the second Miss Buncle book, Miss Buncle Married yesterday.

I finished Within the Sanctuary of Wings and my first kill is The Lady Trent Memoirs by Marie Brennan, which I just added this year too. My library had all five books available in audio so I was able to get through them pretty quickly.

I am currently reading The Two Mrs. Abbotts which is the third Miss Buncle book.

I am listening to The City of Mirrors, which is the third book in The Passage Trilogy. I own the ebook and have started it three times without being able to finish it. I do not care all that much for Scott Brick's voices - he gets too whiney sometimes, but I am making my way through it.

I finished the third Cotton Malone book early this morning. The Bishop's Pawn was a surprise read for Black History Month. The author's first person POV was a success for me. I really enjoyed it. The romp around Florida was exciting. The facts and non-facts regarding MLK Jr. were enlightening.

I'm looking forward to reading The Bishop's Pawn soon. Very timely to read it in February.
I'm reading The Beekeeper's Apprentice and really enjoying it. I'm definitely going to continue with this series.

Killed: The Passage trilogy and Miss Buncle trilogy

I started To the Land of Long Lost Friends (No. 1 Ladie's #20) and The Sins of the Father (Clifton Chronicles #2) both for my museum challenge.

I downloaded the fourth and last book in the Children of the Mist series, Conquered by a Highlander. This one is for the March monthly challenge, just because Roz challenged me to.

I am struggling with the #2 Clifton Chronicle book. I read the first book in April of 2019 and unfortunately have no idea of what happened anymore. My only comment was "Bad idea Harry."
Well - Harry is in prison in New York now and Emma is trying to find him, sure that he is not dead. His mother never opened his last letter to her....
