What have you added to your collection recently?
It’s the tallest I own. I have two artist editions, the crazy big Marvels book and the two Little Nemos by Taschen (those were the previous title holders of tallest book). I had no idea Behold Galactus would be like that, I just thought it was an Omni, sucker now has to be on a coffee table as no shelf is tall enough.
Hardcovers/OHCs/omnibus volumes listed for release on IST tomorrow:
Action Comics 1000 The Deluxe Edition
Atomic Empire HC
Batman Hush Unwrapped HC
Exiles Complete Collection TBP vol 1 reprint
Final Crisis Tenth Anniversary Omnibus
Guardians of the Galaxy by Duggen Omnibus
Jim Henson Dark Crystal Discovery HC
Klaus New Adventures of Santa Claus OHC
Quest of Ewilan HC
Rich Veitch Bratpack HC

I wasn't really paying a lot of attention to the Final Crisis Tenth Anniversary Omnibus. I have the Absolute for the event. However, the omnibus has about 1,000 pages of additional content (Absolute has 480 pages vs 1,512 in the omnibus). Anyone follow this event back in the day and can comment on whether the additional material is worth checking out?

Nearly bought that for a friend! The artist was a nice guy who really enjoyed sharing his thought process.

Huh, didn't know they had both colourings, that's good. I was worried we'd only see the new colouring going forward.

Didn't see it but I'm not familiar with it
Thought Bubble sounds like a cool event. It would have been awesome to have been there a few years back to pick up a few of Olly Moss's masterpieces from him when they were affordable.

I also noticed the other day that the Siege OHC I picked up on ebay a while back was signed by Bendis at some point - the seller probably didn't notice as it was black ink on very dark paper. Bonus!
Despite what Amazon told me a couple weeks ago, my copy of Complete Crimson has shipped and should have it tomorrow.

Same! :)
I ordered the Skybourne HC and am now a little apprehensive about the content because I saw a pretty brutal one-star review on it claiming both the writing and art was pretty bad. Not sure the author was a comic book person but we'll see.
I have the Olly Moss Lawrence of Arabia print (the rare blue variant) I purchased from a guy who got it from Olly at Thought Bubble. Closest connection I have to the event. :) In other print related news, my latest print was finally picking up the Lord of the Rings Olly Moss reg. I have it framed and hanging up already. Pretty pleased with it.
I'm going to go ahead and send the first half of the modern Old Man Logan run in to be custom bound. I'm not as sure as I wish I was that we are going to get it in omnibus format - in part because you really need the Bendis issues to make sense of the Lemire run. Even if we do get that released not sure they will do the latter half of the run by Ed Brisson.
Several sites have posted that now that Marvel has the X-men movie rights back they are now willing to pay creators more. It's a little crazy to think the money they were offering to get work done over the last several years in the X-universe has been less money than they were offering for their other properties.

I didn't open mine. Is this your first absolute? It's great that they did the two different color versions . . . but I wish they did it like Batman Year One; each version was it's own hardcover and both fit in one slipcase.

Hard question. I think I like the new always, but that isn’t achieved without seeing the old. The old helps me appreciate the new.
I’d ask the question, which is more impressive, which for me will almost always be old as the color options simply didn’t exist and just to make certain things happen was art in and of itself.

I like the glossy pages and the depth provided by darker inks and colors, but man nothing beats 80s coloring. Have you guys seen Crisis with the original coloring? Whew boy.

But both of them are great to have and compare.
On the "what have you added" topic, my haul of the past six weeks or so;
Earth X Alpha Omnibus - Right now I enjoy the setting and tone
Lazarus DLX #1 - Not quite as good as I had expected, will of course still acquire #2
Behold Galactus HUGE OHC - Awesome
Batman by Loeb/Sale - I don't have any of the corresponding absolutes, so that one was made for me.
Absolute Killing Joke - No brainer for me (and everyone at that price tag)
Crimson Omnibus - Beautiful, fits in perfectly into the DC Absolutes
Oz Omnibus - Was on sale and I bought it on a hunch. I kind of enjoy Scottie Young
Darkseid Wars Omnibus - Also bought on sale. Lets prepare for the Final Crisis Omnibus ;-)
Punisher Back To War Omnibus - Sale. Also Punisher. Also good old times.

I haven't but it caught my eye and I'll likely pick it up. I did like the Skybourne OHC.
I do want to read Batman White Knight. It was originally solicited as a standard size hardcover but they changed it to paperback. The creator has stated he has asked that they do an Absolute but there are also hints there is a second part of the story coming so it may be a long while before we see an Absolute.

Yeah they already announced the sequel.
I'm tempted by hellstorm because it is Ellis. Anyone read it?

Anyway... Hickman’s FF was brilliant and easy to follow... his Avengers, wow, trying to keep up with some of these characters I have never heard of before and only 2/3 through the first Omni do I feel like I have a grasp of the omniversal, cosmic, and earthly stories overlapping.
As for new: foundation decent priced copy of the Alias Omni (long overdue), Wedding of Cyclops and Phoenix, and Sixth Gun DLX 5
Mostly grabbing HC from Image, Dark Horse, Boom etc, but couldn’t resist Thor Heroes Reborn Vol 2. That entire run from 1- . . . 75 or 78 I think, got me reading comics again after nearly 20 years.

Awesome. :) Does it go through and include the Ragnarok issues?
Looks like the Sword of Ages hardcover was bumped to early January.
IST is running sales on several omnibus volumes, the front page shows several of them but not all of them. The 2nd Spider-Man Clone Saga omnibus is half off.

I was incorrect, it goes all the way to 85 with supplemental.
Omnibus Vol1 & Vol. 2 cover the entire Thor Volume 2 run from late 90's to early 2000's. Anyone who hasn't picked it up I encourage it. I think IST was also offering Vol. 1 at 50% off the past week or two.
I think there was a ragnorok event at the end of the volume 1 (issues in the high 200s)
This is just Volume 2, which has an awesome Ragnorak ending with the Avengers Disassembled story line. There is a jump to the future where Thor thinks to properly protect earth, he must rule it and as such has pretty much taken out all of the Avengers . . . if memory serves, I think he cuts Caps arm off with his own shield.
It's been more than 15 years since I read it, but I'm looking forward to reading both volumes back to back in Omnibus format. As I said before, this entire run got me back into comics.

Thanks for the recommendation Erik. These were on the bubble for me but I'll plan on picking them up. :) I do remember being curious reading the Avengers Disassembled and hearing Thor had gone through some sort of Ragnarok that took him and Asgard out and wanting to read that. :)
Any suggestions for a splurge?
After Christmas came early and I treated myself to Hickman FF and Gunslinger Omnis, I have a pretty serious eBay credit.
Problem is, I pretty much have everything I want. Any suggestions out there, don't want this one to expire.
Was thinking about Eternals if I can get the price down to $100 after the eBay bucks, but not sure that will happen.

They're supposedly developing a movie about the Eternals, maybe an eventual reprint? Never read it myself though.
Eternal sis just a stab in the dark. I try not to buy Marvel Omnis unless it’s something I feel I must have in the shelf. I have MU so if it’s pure curiosity, I make myself just use the app.

Oh, I was thinking of the reimagined version from Gaiman and JRJR.

I'm not sure what all you have. The Brubaker Cap omnibus collection is worthwhile IMHO. I also really liked his DD with Bendis' two omnibus volumes preceding it.
The Parker Martini edition is actually surprisingly inexpensive for as great as it is and being OOP.
Calvin and Hobbes hardcover slipcase complete collection - if you are into the comic it's the definitive set.

Yeah. Love those got those. Have most Brubaker HC only missing 1 or 2 independents, but I’ll get those.
Any other suggestions guys & gals? Something obscure but really good?

Its been a weird end to the year, the only books on my wishlist for the next couple months are:
October: Deadly Class 2, BPRD HOE 3
November: Absolute Swamp Thing, X-Men Mutant Massacre Omni, Black Hammer Library Edition1
December: Silver Surfer (Allred) Omni, Fantastic Four (Waid) Omni
February: Captain Marvel HC
Also... The Infinity Gauntlet book slated for next year is listed as paperback, is that true? I thought there was also a hardcover OHC of the event only.
Anything else coming out in the next couple months I should have an eye out for?

Nightwing: Mobbed Up (other topics)

I'm about a third of the way in. It does appear to set the different parts of several mini-series in chronological reading order to tell one big story from Morrison. It's keeping my interest so far. :)
