One of the things I've been doing for several years is doing a book wish list and distributing it before Christmas so if folks want to buy me books they have a list and know they are getting me something I want. Just throwing that out there in case it's an idea that might be helpful for anyone else. :)

Apparently the Colossal Conan The Cimmerian was back in stock on Instocktrades for about an hour yesterday and sold out again.
Here is a picture of the book next to the first Colossal edition: https://www.goodreads.com/photo/group...

Grass kings arrived. It’s a lot bigger than mgmt and dept h for some reason. It’s like irredeemable big

If that is the Remender X-Force I thought it was very good. Probably my favorite Remender Marvel work.
I didn't realize Grass Kings was oversized. That is very cool. I did get my set of Mind MGMT in the mail yesterday. Volume 3 was dinged up and the package wasn't packed well but I can't complain for the price I paid. I will likely read Dept H first just because it's just the first volume.

What was the colossal conan price on IST? At this point I’m just going to go amazon. IST told me they would alert me if in stock and they didn’t.

I think it was a couple dollars cheaper on IST ($57 vs 61 IIRC).

Speaking of which. Am I the only one really concerned witn the quality of the really large DC omnibus? Like Ex Machina, Infinte Crisis, everything with 1200 pages and more? Compared to the Marvel ones at least.
The Batman one has started to get lose on on side of the spine, tearing the paper from the hardcover. Also the spine itself behaves not like it should while bending and reading. I always open the bigger ones by slowly fanning out the pages, but Marvel is in another league in quality.

About 6 weeks ago I got a roll of brodart plastic covering and cut some to size for a few of my omnibus dust jackets. While I don’t mind the project, like the idea of better protecting the dust jacket where so much value is, I think they may make the spine look less attractive.
See the central 4 sections (avengers, daredevil, FF, punisher sections) which have the dust jacket covers on and let me know honest feedback!

Definitely Brodart if you’re already considering it. More importantly. What are those shelves? I assume IKEA. What style? Any concern with all the weight?

I don't think they look that bad. It's a little hard to tell from the picture though. You are obviously concerned about taking care of them and this is the best way to do that and still display them. For the price that we pay for some of these (or what they are going for now) that extra piece of mind is worth it.

I got home today and saw an Amazon box leaning against my house. I didn't recall what it could be but it was a larger box at about 16 by 12 inches and less that four inches deep. I picked it up and instantly knew it had to be the new Conan hardcover. My heart dropped as I heard it slide around in the box and I just knew it would probably be pretty battered. All I can say is, thank God Dark Horse packaged the book with a padded box like DC does with their Absolutes because Amazon didn't do any packing around that box. Fortunately the book looks great. :)

Awesome! Pics!
You don't wants pics from me as my camera phone is terrible. :) I did post one picture from elsewhere on the internet with the spine next to the original Dark Horse Colossal Conan here: https://www.goodreads.com/photo/group...
The book is well put together and does have a marker ribbon. At first glance the art paging through looks decent but not quite as awesome as Cary Nord's art in the first Colossal Conan book.
I did preorder the Colossal King Conan on Amazon as well just in case we run into the same issue with that volume.

Nice, what's the premise, i've never read any conan?

Sorry for the delay Erik! I used to only use Ikea, but then someone down the street was giving away never-opened Better Home and Garden shelves (thats what my brown ones are - i had never heard of them) because he bought them and his wife hated them and wanted them out of the house asap (ha!). I gave him 40 bucks anyway and to me they seem a lot sturdier than Ikea with a better texture.
Re: weight. I always freak out about the weight, but ironically my wife always tells me they massively underlist what things can hold to cover their ass and its nothing to worry about. I personally still have a little anxiety and in the future would like to spread some of this out.

Other than that, I am overdue to pickup BPRD vol. 3, Deadly Class, and also - not the butchest addition to my collection - but a guilty pleasure of mine the past few years has been Giant Days and I think im going to pickup hardcover vol. 1, its only 240 pages but I dont think BOOM will repackage them as a larger collection. If anyone hasnt read it, it follows mostly 3 girls but some guys at an english college and is a clever, very well cartooned adolescent drama... and i kind of love it.

Thanks!

IIRC, there are two outlets for collected editions. Diamond distributes comics and this is where IST gets their books along with your local comic shops. The second distribution stream is a bit more diverse as it goes through normal book distribution channels.
Diamond is completely out of stock with no backorders available for the new Conan the Cimmerian book. With the license for publishing Conan going to Marvel (and the sixish months it takes to get a book printed and distributed) it is very unlikely there will be a reprint in a 8 by 12 inch hardback. If you want one Amazon is probably the easiest bet.

I ordered the American Vampire omnibus and The Witcher Library Edition today. I haven't read any of either material but we'll see how it is. :)

Will do. I am lagging behind a bit with reading.
That said, I read a couple books recently with an eye towards seeing if they were good enough to give as gifts to my sister-in-law who really liked I Hate Fairyland last year.
Sleepless is an Image series in a fantasy kingdom that follows a princess whose father, the king, recently died. Because the King was not married to her father she does not succeed the throne but the King's brother does. As he comes to be crowned an assassin tries to kill her but is stopped by her personal body guard, a knight who cannot sleep (thus the title). The art is serviceable.
I would recommend for teen/YA and up. There isn't a lot of blood and gore in the fight scenes, no nudity, and I can't recall any profanity.
ISOLA, another Image series with beautiful art following a female ranger/guard trying to take the Queen in a fantasy kingdom to some mythic place to be healed/turned back into a human. This one is a bit more violent and more geared towards adults.
I am also getting/giving Velvet by Brubaker and the first two volumes of Kill Six Billion Demons (KSBD). KSBD is definitely geared towards an adult audience following a girl whose boyfriend is whisked into another dimension and she is trying to follow and rescue him.

Injection came out when I was still on single issues and I dropped off after a few issues. I think my pull list was like 14 books and I was just overwhelmed. I will be getting that DLX too and will be happy to re-evaluate it.

Is there a new date for Black Hammer LE?
Is there a new date for Black Hammer LE?
I never actually saw Black Hammer available on IST. I see other places listing it for release on 28 Nov 18. Amazon may not have updated their release date? They are usually pretty good about that.

I'm going to go with the 28 Nov release date at being about right then (it may be a week earlier on IST). If it had released and sold out I think we would have heard a lot of buzz about it like we did for the recent Conan release.
The Batman Gates of Gotham DLX looks interesting. I don't believe this was part of the regular Snyder Batman run (unless it was part of Batman eternal?).
