What have you added to your collection recently?
Internet rumor is that DC's Planetary omnibus and Absolute Batman and Robin are going out of print. Amazon has Planetary listed as out of stock and 6 copies of Morrison's Absolute Batman and Robin. In Stock Trades still has Planetary but not the Absolute.
I ordered a copy of Planetary.

It's tough to predict what DC will do. DC's printing strategy appears to be to have no strategy. They have re-printed several Absolute volumes but they have allowed some to lapse so it's best not to bet they will bring something back if you can still find it at a reasonable price.
There is a seller on Amazon with a new Absolute Batman and Robin for just over $50 which is a pretty good deal. This is going out of print (I think) because everyone is picking it up now that the Batman Incorporated Absolute is out. DC never printed the second Deluxe edition of Batman Incorporated to finish off Morrison's Batman run leaving a hole in many collector's libraries. 21 pages were re-drawn for the Incorporated Absolute and now that everyone is picking that up people are grabbing the Batman and Robin Absolute to go with it. However, the Batman and Robing Morrision run is available in 3 deluxe edition hardcovers. Not as large or nice as the Absolute but still over-sized.
Absolute Planetary vol 1 (of 2) is out of print and expensive. The omnibus includes the Batman issue that isn't in the Absolute volumes.

Right now my focus is to finish the HellBoy library edition first ( I have 3 of the 6 books).
I know what you mean. I have a long wish list at In Stock Trades and they keep coming out with new things I'm interested in.
I only have the two Fear Agent Library Edition volumes. They are very nice. The Hellboy volumes look great but I can't buy it all at once. :)
Just picked up the Superman for All Seasons Deluxe edition. I really enjoyed it. Very thoughtful and I really liked Tim Sale's work in the art department.

Just read and reviewed JLA Deluxe volume 3 and 4 from Morrison's run. I think the final book is some of his best work from his JLA run. I've seen people express a desire to see this run printed as an omnibus. I'm not impressed enough with it especially with all the other things DC needs to print in an oversized version. Batman Eternal is one thing I am really hoping gets an omnibus printing.
Planetary is next on the reading list for me.

Planetary was fantastic. Well deserving of all the accolades I've heard from other readers.
I ordered the new Fraction Fantastic Four omnibus, Prince Valiant HC vol 10, and the Uncanny Avengers omnibus from InStockTrades.com today. 50% off Marvel cover price for a limited time on release.
I'm currently reading the Johns Green Lantern omnibus vol 1. It's massive. I've read some of the material previously. Looking forward to having all three with Johns whole run on my shelf.

Cool. I had an extra 2% off on InStockTrades so Uncanny Avengers omnibus was $48 with free shipping (ditto for Fraction's FF4).

I picked Planetary for full price at my local comic store last week and canceled my Amazon order which wasn't moving anyway.( I know a reprint is on the way but I didn't want to wait or risk they change the cover for the second edition).
And finally Fantastic Four Omnibus by Hickman volume 1 should be in my mail box tomorrow ( it's close to selling out but weirldy enough I got it for 66$ on Amazon).
I just received my omnibus copy of Uncanny Avengers in the mail today. I was pretty impressed by both Planetary and Hickman's Fantastic Four. Good price pick up on volume one of the latter. :)

-Walking Dead HC 11
- Scalped Deluxe Volume 1
- Avengers and X-Men : AXIS HC ( this one didn't get great reviews so I was on the fence..)
- Avengers Time Runs out Volume 2
80$ overall, shipping included.
Sounds like a great order! The only one I have coming from your list for sure is the Axis HC. I finished the Uncanny Avengers omnibus and it leads into Axis so it'll be interesting to see how things shake out.
Otherwise, I'm on a slight pause for now other than The Untold Story of Marvel Comics I just picked up and read. Interesting history of how Marvel comics came to be and managed to stay alive since inception. Reading about some of the writers, artists, and management running the company and creating content was a perspective I hadn't had before.

I purchased Brubaker's four Gotham Central HCs on the Ebay and I've started reading volume 1. My HC copy of Marvel's Axis event should come in today. I also have the final John Flash omnibus in the mail on it's way to me. There are rumors about the first and final volume of the three Johns Flash omnibus volumes going out of print. The Flash run is decent but Green Lantern has been my favorite thing by Johns.
IST has Avengers Omnibus V2 up for sale. Since I had an extra 2% discount I had to buy something else to get the free shipping. Almost switched and got the Buscema cover but it was $5 more, so picked up Astro City: Victory.

It's been on my to buy list forever but it looks like it is selling out from everywhere so I bumped it to the top of my buy list...
Finished reading Axis yesterday, it really isn't that great compared to his uncanny Avengers and uncanny x-force stuff.

That's what I suspected about Axis. I'll probably wait to see if it shows up in the library and read it then.

My copy of Axis came in the mail last night. I kept my Amazon order as it was just slightly cheaper than IST. However, they sent it to me in a yellow envelope and it arrived with the corners beat in and other minor damage. Which is very annoying. Just keeps pushing me to buy everything from other sources.
Storywise, it was odd and felt like a lot more could have been developed in the story. Interesting twist with the good/bad inversion on most characters. Maybe I missed it but I'm not clear why it didn't effect some people.
I'm getting ready to go on a long road trip. I'm going to hold off on Avengers till I get back. I doubt there is a large risk of it selling out in a couple weeks. :)

Now that Dark Horse is releasing the TPs the HC are selling out fast and I only have the first volume so far.
Amazon has the 4th, I see the 2nd is still available on some site and I am hoping my comic store will still have the 3rd when I visit next week.

I only read the bits relevant to the Deadpool comic, but I think it had something to do with everyone affected being in the same place as something-something-Professor-X's-brain-something-something-psychic-explosion. I wasn't quite clear but it was not my favorite arc at all and I don't really want to read the rest of it.
Aildin, that makes sense. Amy, welcome! :) I read the Deadpool and Cable book as well and thought it was just ok. Probably my favorite Deadpool is in Uncanny X-men by Remender. Have you read that?

- B.P.R.D. Plague of frogs Omnibus HC vol 2, 3 and 4.
- American vampire vol 5 tp.
+ I received my Absolute All Star Superman and I am in love with the collection.
Nice additions. :) All Star Superman Absolute is a beautiful book. Tough to beat an Absolute edition.
I haven't read B.P.R.D. yet. I did read Mark Millar's Starlight the other day. I'm not a big Millar fan but this book was fantastic. Sci-Fi with a retro Buck Rogers/John Carter twist. Plus some depth from the main character who was once a hero who saved a world (40 years in the past) but no one on earth believes him except his wife. Not even his two sons. They are looking at making a movie. Hopefully that will lead them to actually print the book in hardcover in the future. The TPB is labeled volume one online but the book is complete.

Awesome. You'll have to let me know what you think about it as I have not read any Sleeper yet. :)
I picked up John's the Flash omnibus volume 3 recently. Some of these volumes are going out of print and DC is printing the run in paperback so not sure if they are going to keep the omnibus volumes in print.
I have the Superior Spiderman OHCs coming in along with Simonson's Orion omnibus (50% off cover on In-Stock-Trades for a limited time), and IDW's complete GI Joe volume 5.

It's an uneven book, the first 3 issues illustrated by Quitely are awesome but after that the illustrator keep changing every 3-4 issues and I have trouble getting used to some of those more obscure artists...
I wish DC would stick to making Absolute with an artistic continuity instead of mixing different artists in the same absolute....
Agree, the artist changes every couple issues is not to my liking. I understand they can meet deadlines easier if they use different artists sometimes but they need to at least have a similar style.
I was very lucky today and found MMW Defenders #1 today for only $25. I suspect it has been read once but is in near mint condition.
Yeah. V5 will be out this year. That will probably be it for me on defenders. From what I understand there wasn't much worthwhile after that.

I just ordered the vol 3 omnibus of John's Flash run. Thanks for mentioning they were going out of print.
No prob. I'll try to keep those type of comments coming as I become aware of what is moving towards being out of print. :)
I probably need to add the Alias omnibus to my want list. With the Jessica Jones show coming I can see stocks of that one dwindling as people pick up one of the few things to read starring her.

If I'm not mistaken, what's out there now is the second printing. Obviously it could still go OOP but it may be as rare as you think.

I'm pretty sure you are correct Alias is on it's second print. I don't expect the price/availability to skyrocket once this goes OOP but I don't really expect a third printing from Marvel. With that in mind, once the cheap places like In Stock Trades run out they will probably be a bit more expensive.
I don't know if we want to discuss it here, but did anyone see the new covers for the Marvel Masterworks? Seems they've removed all of the "border" and just used the original artwork. There's no marbelized background with gold foil, no silver/black like the current/non-variant versions (which I like). I have to say it doesn't look nice, but I need to see the whole thing to be sure.
I have not seen the new covers for Masterworks. Sounds like what they have for the paperback Masterworks? I think that would be a turn off for all those folks waiting to buy the next volumes in a Masterworks series they are collecting.
Congrats on The Long Halloween Absolute purchase. :)

JLA Deluxe vol 1 and vol 3 new.
JLA Deluxe vol 2 , used, lets see in what condition it arrives.
This is all from Amazon and Amazon marketplace, I had some rewards to spend...
That's a cool way to spend your reward points. I picked up volume 3 and 4 from Instocktrades.com earlier this year. They should still have volume 4 in stock for less than Amazon prices if you need that volume. :)
Last night I finished reading volume 5 of the IDW GI Joe collection. It tied up a couple of stories that had been running for a while. I was afraid there was going to be some fairly mediocre safe writing going into some of the IDW material but some character deaths and story twists surprised me. Some good depth.
Just started reading the Simonson Orion omnibus. Good art work (Kirbyesque in places) from Simonson but the writing is in a vintage style (perhaps in homage to Kirby?). The main character says things that normal people might think so the dialog is a bit stilted. I'm very pleased to have picked this up for $36 on release week but I think I'll end up liking Simonson's Thor better.

Oh. For some reason, based on some other comment, I thought you didn't have it. Thor is not my favorite character, but I would like to read all those. If they do another printing of the original Lee stuff I'll buy them just to have them.

Simonson's Thor run is excellent. It's still a bit old school but it works really well with the character set. Many of the following writers used characters he invented and his run seems to be considered not only canon but THE run for new writers to check out to make sure they understand the character.
Orion got better the more I've read it. Finished the main part and there are some back up stories collected at the back of the book I still need to read.
Just ordered the Alias omnibus.
