Maybe someday I'll be able to find a copy.

I've started finishing the second half of Morrison's Batman run and wondering if I should go for the two Absolutes instead of picking up Dark Victory and Haunted Knight.

I'm actually enjoying Batman and Robin. Part of me still thinks they will do an Absolute with Black Glove/Batman and Son/ and some other material.

Also, did you (or anyone) get the Absolute Final Crisis?

I have the Absolute Final Crisis book. I also have the Infinite Crisis omnibus, Crisis on Infinite Earths Absolute and the Identity Crisis Absolute. Of these I recommend the Infinite Earths Absolute and then the Identity Crisis Absolute (or DLX).

The Infinite and Final Crisis story was such a huge sprawling event I frequently felt there was to much going on. Maybe I need to go back and read Final Crisis again to see if it stands up well on it's own.

If they do a Black Glove/Batman and Son/Ras al Ghul Absolute I would be in for it. :)

Batman Incorporated Absolute is worth picking up if you are trying to buy the run in HC as it's not all collected in HC unless you buy the Absolute.

It's a little harder for me because I have Identity Crisis in singles, COIE in the Graphitti Designs Slipcase Harcover. Neither of which I liked enough to rebuy. I remember reading Final Crisis from the library but was so lost I didn't care for it at all.

It would be nice to have though as a precursor into Batman and Robin/Incorporated.

The Lion's Share I just read the Alias omnibus it's very good. I've just got the spawn omnibus. Quite cheap so thought I'd give it a go. Gets great reviews on here.

message 55: by Aildiin (new)

Aildiin | 130 comments I am going the way of the Absolute for the second part of Morrison run on Batman.
I have the Batman and robin Absolute and I plan to purchase the Batman Inc one sometime soon.

I went ahead and purchased both and really hoping the first part is done in Absolute too.

FYI. cheapgraphicnovels.com is a good reliable seller. It should be noted that they sell on Amazon as well and not only do the prices vary between their own website and Amazon, but their inventory seems to be different too. Their website said no stock on Absolute BandR, but they had it on their Amazon store and for cheaper shipping. I think IST is still the best but every once in awhile someone has something a little bit cheaper.

I just placed my order for FF Omnibus V3. Decided to go with the Variant/Kirby cover this time, even though it was a little more expensive. I thought it was going to be delayed but it's definitely for sale now.

I'm weaning myself away from Amazon. To many poorly packed books showing up with banged up corners and whatnot. I still go with them for regular books though. They have a better packing record with those.

Me too.

All of the these finally arrived. I can't even reach my bookshelves to put them away though. I started reading Sleeper so it'll be awhile before these get read:
FF V3 Omnibus
Absolute LH
Absolute Batman and Robin
Absolute Batman Incorporated
Absolute Identity Crisis

I will also be taking a break to recharge my wallet!

Awesome pick ups! I look forward to hearing what you think about these if you have not read them before.

I just ordered the last Brubaker omnibus and Guardians of the Galaxy OHC 1 (Bendis). Also ordered Batman by Snyder HC vol 6 and one Image HC that caught my eye I thought I would try. I'll report on my thoughts when these come in. :)

message 63: by The Lion's Share (new)

The Lion's Share I just bought all 8 omnibuses for lone wolf and cub, spawn compendium and I think I'll be getting the deluxe version of scalped, fatale and southern barstards when it comes out.

Got a free $20 for Amazon, so I purchased the Animal Man Omnibus. Looking forward to reading that.

message 65: by The Lion's Share (new)

The Lion's Share Nice!I'm really looking forward to reading that.

I just bought the omnibus hardbacks for Daredevil by mark waid vol 1,2 & 3 - plus the deluxe versions of fatale, manhattan projects, criminal 1 & 2, and scalped.

Wow! You are really building up your library!

DD by Waid is really good, just keep in mind it is very different from the usual gritty Daredevil stories. I found it to be clever and full of new ideas.

I'm waiting to hear what you think about MP and Criminal. I may pass on Fatale: the subject matter just doesn't interest me.

message 67: by The Lion's Share (new)

The Lion's Share Yeah I sold four omnibuses because they were rubbish. Just using the money from that. I'm reading Manhattan now and enjoying it. I really like Hickman he always has an end plan from the beginning, I love that.

Re daredevil yes I've already read vol 1 I like what he's done. He needs brightening up. The whole disaster life story needed a change. I absolutely love he fight with cap!

message 68: by Relstuart, Mod+ (new)

Relstuart | 2964 comments Mod
I like Hickman so I might eventually cave in and pick up Manhattan Projects. I looked at the art and didn't dig it and a little preview stuff and not sure I would like it. I've read a couple bios of people part of the Manhattan Project so I'm probably much more familiar than the average person. Which means mis-characterization might bother me more when they get well off the beaten path of how these scientists would act.

I've only read the first OHC of Waid's DD. I like the Milleer/Bendis/Brubaker DD a lot more but perhaps I need to read more of Waid's run. The TV show was more like the other writer's DD. Dark and gritty. Waid seems more Caped Crusader than Dark Knight.

BZ, you'll have to let me know what you think of Animal Man. I haven't checked that one out yet.

message 69: by The Lion's Share (new)

The Lion's Share Yeah I get what you mean about the artwork in MP's, but it grows on you. I was like that on Allstar superman, I thought they all had Down's syndrome! The characterisation of the scientists is off the wall crazy so don't expect realism. It's very clever though I'm really looking forward to seeing where it goes. I say it was like x files on LSD lol.

Wait is different and the bendis and brubaker run was sublime, but change comes around. I'm going to run with it. I don think DD will ever be like he was again.

Animal man is supposed to be GM's best run. :)

Haha! I'm glad I'm not the only one. I don't really get why people like Quitely's art. Sometimes it looks ok but in general it doesn't really thrill me.

I'm hoping I like Animal Man. There are times Morrison really wows me and other times he's too far out there.

Waid's DD is definitely not gritty, but some of the stories are kind of dark. Even though the art is "bright" I don't think the writing is really that way. In the end, I've enjoyed it. There are only a couple more issues left for their run and those are the last "new" Marvel books I'm getting, so it's worth it for me to finish it out.

message 71: by Relstuart, Mod+ (new)

Relstuart | 2964 comments Mod
If you haven't read Morrision's comments on his encounters with space aliens and drug use it's interesting. No doubt he is creative and his writing has been interesting in Batman.

I feel the same way about Quietly's art. Sometimes it's good sometimes it's just a little to wonky for me to love.

They have Annihilation Book 3 and Conquest Book 1. Go figure. I can request but there's no guarantee and I've never seen a full Omnibus there, just basic TPBs. I can wait a little while. I have plenty of other things to read.

I'll be ordering the Annihilation Conquest Omni Friday. Then the Y the Last Man Absolute in a couple weeks. And East of West OHC a week after that.

I just got a new job so I accidentally ordered all the ultimate collection editions of invincible, BPRD 146-1948 omnibus, miracle man 3 and the Tom strong vol 2 deluxe. Oopsy! Celebration time so why not. I did get 10% off.

Then I'll be getting the GL OMNIBUS. :)

I'm in the central timezone in the USA. As an Anglophile I'd love to live in England for a few years or at least visit one day. My family is originally from there (We go back to a land grant from William the Conqueror for my surname and my Mom's maiden name is Saxon).

I have the read the Alias omnibus. Worthwhile for sure. I can see now why they are looking to turn this story into a Netflix season. I think I posted a review but I'll have to go back and verify.

The Lion's Share I've never been to the U.S., just because Europe is on my doorstep and it's full of a variety of different cultures. However, my new job is with an American bank so I'm secretly wishing for a relocation to San Fran or California as they have offices there :)

message 87: by Blindzider, Moderator (new)

I'm on the east coast. Been to London a couple times (one of my favorite cities in the world) and been through most of Western Europe and wouldn't mind living there.

California is nice, depending on where you go. You definitely need to find a way to at least take a trip over here. The 50 states have a variety similar to the way Europe does with countries.

message 88: by The Lion's Share (new)

The Lion's Share I got a bit carried away recently. I think I'll be staying in for a while :S

In the last two weeks I've bought the following

Miracle man v3
Invincible - The Ultimate Collection vol 1-9
BPRD 1946-1948 omnibus
Sex Criminals Deluxe v1
Green Lantern v 1 omnibus
Tom Strong Deluxe V1 & V2
Ghost Rider Daniel Way Ultimate Collection
Ghost Rider Arron Omnibus
Invincible Iron Man omnibus V1 & 2 by Fraction

and lastly a massive oak bookcase to hold them all!

I blame Goodreads for pointing out the temptations! Ah well at least I won't be bored!

message 89: by Blindzider, Moderator (new)

Blindzider | 3293 comments Mod
Now I don't feel so bad! I keep hoping for an Absolute Tom Strong but I don't think that will happen. I'll be waiting for the Miracleman Omnibus but I'm hoping they have an unedited version.

You could be be spending your money on drugs and sex so I think you are better off. Enjoy!

message 90: by The Lion's Share (new)

Nice additions to the collection. You'll have to share a picture with us once you get that bookcase set up. :)

Technical nitpick, I don't think the Fraction Iron Man volumes are omnibus editions. Just oversize hardcovers that have similar size pages as the omnibus editions. I have both of those and I enjoyed them. Fraction had to keep Iron Man cool and redeem him after Civil War. I felt like he did a decent job going in that direction.

message 92: by Blindzider, Moderator (new)

I could have sworn it actually said omnibus on the cover, but it doesn't. But all the listings for it state omnibus. I'm wondering if the official ISBN listing states that.

Regardless I get your point. I enjoyed those and his entire run too (although I still haven't read the very last TPB.) He definitely redeemed Tony and did it in a very "Iron Man" way.

message 93: by Relstuart, Mod+ (new)

Relstuart | 2964 comments Mod
I know where I saw this mistake the other day, here on Goodreads. I just edited the title info on both books to take out the "omnibus" part of the title. :)

Though, some of the OHCs Marvel publishes are just as big in every way as some of their books they label omnibus. Not really sure what their criteria is.

message 94: by The Lion's Share (new)

The Lion's Share Cool. I bought them on recommendations from Jeff and Anne I think.

They are about 500 pages each so big enough for a lengthy read.

Yes I'll definitely post a photo. :)

The Infinity Gauntlet Omnibus
Avengers vs. Thanos
Annihilation Conquest Omnibus

Have picked up this past week:
Thanos Rising
Thanos A God up There is Listening
Thanos The Infinity Realm
Thanos The Infinity Realativity
The Realm of Kings
Annihilation Omnibus (found it today)
Annnihilation Classic
Fantastic Four Hickman Vol. 1

I am trying to pick up a listing of the cosmics so i can read the story through.

Any suggestions, with reading Thanos?
