I too went for mutant massacre as it’s one of my favorite x stories. Price tag almost kept me away . . . Feeling a little guilty. I’ve always loved Scalphunter, who I think was leading the Marauders at the time of the mutant massacre. Wish Marvel would use Scalphunter more often

Thanks all! Definitely dipped into my savings but couldn't pass a few opportunities up.

Very much so looking forward to the Mutant Massacre omni release. There was an older hardcover version that I almost picked up a couple of years ago, but I can't remember if it included all the issues the new one does, or if it was more in line with what the TPB offered. Regardless, won't matter very soon!

The new Mutant Massacre book covers between the (eventual, expected) Uncanny X-Men omnibus vol.4 and Fall of the Mutants in a more complete way than the previous Mutant Massacre OHC did, so I just sold mine for about what I paid and picked up the Omnibus.

I think now after the (again eventual, expected) UXM 4 Omni, issues through 321 will be in one oversized book or another. And by that point the stories turn a bit to shit so I don’t cater as much after that :)

I read the first story arc in The Witcher LE last night and enjoyed it. I don't think you need to have played the game to read the book. If you are into fantasy this might be something to consider.

It appears Colossal King Conan sold out on IST very quickly yesterday. I wasn't following it closely so I checked probably 40 minutes after it would have been up for sale and it was gone.

In the art realm, Laurent Durieux had his second solo art show at the Mondo gallery (including a Conan print). He is well known as a creative artist with a high amount of detail and Easter eggs in the print community. Several of his older prints command pretty high prices on the secondary market now.

I saw that as well. My guess is there will be more comics written if they aren't in the process already. The series is getting a TV show and I suspect there will be more in the gaming world as well.

Has Marvel said they're going to republish Dark Horse's Conan comics in addition to the old Marvel run? It's like once Marvel got the rights back, DH's Conan books have been bought up. A couple of the omnibus volumes are fetching a lot of money already in the after market.

Marvel indicated they would republish some of the Dark Horse Conan material in thick TPB. Basically like the paperback omnibus editons Dark Horse has done. The first of the Dark Horse omnibus paperbacks is out of print and pretty expensive in the secondary market. That is probably why that one will be reprinted by Marvel.

Marvel has been reprinting a fair bit of the Dark Horse Star Wars material in thick paperbacks. There is no word or indication that Marvel will be printing any Dark Horse material in hardcover omnibus format.

Wow, that is a lot of books. Especially a lot of DC.

(1) How much do they mark down the Prince Valiant Box sets? I ended up getting the first one because it was 70% off on Amazon a month or two ago, but assume that was because they were trying to offload copies and not a routine discount.

(2) Do you recommend that Guardians Omnibus? (i mean, obviously you plan to get it, but any general thoughts)

The Prince Valiant box set will probably be about $60.

I doubt I'll actually end up getting all of the Marvel and DC books.

I don't know much about the Guardians material in the omnibus. I've kept up fairly well with all the Guardians omnibus material so far so for completion sake if nothing else I am interesting in checking it out. Anyone else read this material and care to comment? :)

For Astro city I would start at the beginning if you can. For the most part the stories are generally easy to pick up and read but earlier issues do get referenced at times. Also, the city is really the star of the series and you learn about it in current events as well as flashbacks.

That being said, those early hardcovers are hard to find and pricey. Once they went under the vertigo imprint I think the volumes are easier to find.
