You can expect that to go away after the first week of listing . . . But sometimes it will come back . . . Sometimes a bigger discount too. That being said, if you really want the 50%, get it the week of release (before 2pm the following Tuesday)
I don't love the fact they didn't do 50% off on the Wedding of Cyclops and Phoenix on release week. That turned into an expensive book. The spine is wrap around of the cover, rather than a black or white background (I wanted black to match the other omnibus editions it will be around).
I took a chance and blind bought Berlin The Complete edition that reflects German society leading up to WWII as the National Socialist party takes over society. I've read a handful of books about this time period (just finished one a week or so ago) so it will be interesting to see a comic focused on this time period.

I'm due to get my copy soon. Bookdepository.com has it for over 40% discount permanently. Do Americans not go there?

Looks like the Mark Waid Impulse omnibus was canceled. I assume it was due to low pre-orders as that is the typical reason.
I think some folks shop from Book Depository as I have seen people reference it but I have yet to buy from them. IST had the book for 42% off as that is there standard for most of their DC and Marvel books when they come out. They don't put all the DC/Marvel books on 50% on release week. I'm not sure how they pick which with get the bigger discount but it seems like the more popular titles.

Nice! :) I have the Shield book and the Astro City book I bought as a gift.
$25 for the Killing Joke Absolute on IST seems like a really nice price. :)

I ordered the new Aliens Life and Death Library Edition and the Batman Arkham omnibus. First omnibus I've ordered with a cover price of $150... not sure I'll be able to get it cheaper than 52% off later but I still don't love the price.

I think they have the first TPB for Decsender by Lemire available. I highly recommend checking that one out. :) They do also have some omnibus volumes at a higher discount rate. I do want to pick up the Thor volume....

I highly recommend Mind Mgmt by Matt Kindt. Six beautiful standard sized hardcover editions, so they satisfy our collection needs.
But man, the storytelling is from another planet. It blew me away, also the creative use of the page and the art (watercolor) and the medium overall is awesome. If you haven't checked it out yet, definitely do so.

Recently picked up Spider-Man Kraven's Last Hunt and just received the Loeb/Sale Batman Omni. I wish the omni had the design printed on the hardcover, but alas it's just the plain matte black finish. Still waiting on Absolute Killing Joke in the mail.

I read the first volume of MGMT as well. Pretty crazy stuff. The art style is my only caveat. Kinda rough.
Passed on the Loeb Omni as most of those stories are in the absolutes I have. Arkham Omni . . . Thoughts?
Yes MGMT is great. Have them all but only through 3 but loving it. I take a break and read about 5 other books between volumes.

DC Universe is now online. I pulled the trigger a couple months ago as there was an annual subscription price for 16 months.
Went for it for just the Comics and will consider anything else icing. After bouncing around on it, there is much promise. It’s a soft open and apparently will fully launch in October. Curious, there was a line in the comic section that said, “the entire DC comic library will be available for purchase in October”. If this means what it says, disappointing, I can do that on comixology. What I’m hoping will come to be is basically the equivalent of Marvel Unlimited; which I have, enjoy, and don’t use enough.
I’ve been an Amazon Prime member for about ten years, to this day I’m happy to just have the free shipping. That being said, if Amazon will throw in comixology as a Prime perk (rather than discounted subscription pricing). . . DC Universe (for me anyway) would be dead in the water.

That is a great looking book. I do think the Long Halloween is probably the best content but Dark Victory is solid as well. I would have picked it up but I have all the content in Absolute. I saw a picture of the spine somewhere and it looks pretty sharp. :)
The first TPB in Kirkman's new series Oblivion Song is out this week on IST. I've been reading the single issues. I enjoyed the story premise and will probably buy the hardcover whenever it comes out. It is worth checking out.
I've been on Amazon Prime for a long while as well for the same reason. :)

Something you get used to and learn to appreciate. I used to think that the Allstar superman artist drew everyone as if they had downs syndrome, but now I really like his art. I think different is good.
It is super massive. :)
I think I have a box coming in today as well. Unboxing is always fun. :)
The Crimson slipcase I pre-ordered for $30 on Amazon is up to $115 now. My copy is supposed to ship 27 Sep. Crazy discount.

Valiant is doing a new X-O Manowar DLX vol 1 by Kindt. Probably a good sign for more DLX volumes after the change in some of their management/leadership at the company.
For Crimson, Amazon told me the delivery date moved to October/November even asking me if I wanted to cancel. You guys didn't get that email?
Blind, THANK YOU!!
No I did not receive an email, so I went into my orders and there was an “approval needed” next to this item. It stated that I needed to approve the change in delivery date by Oct. 12 or they would cancel the order.
SHAME ON YOU AMAZON. My approval was given when I ordered it!

Not sure why you didn't get a separate email but glad you saw the approval. For that early price I think it'll be worth the wait. Thanks Rel!
I did not get the e-mail either. My order still stays expected shipping is 27 Sep. We'll see what happens. :)

Wasn’t new, but a few years back I thought I scored a good deal with a book on Amazon that was selling for 70% off MSRP...”more copies on the way”. Then one day Amazon just up and cancelled my order.
Crimson was a Boom Studios books from several years back with Humberto Ramos art about a young man that becomes a vampire and then more. I have yet to read it so I can't comment on story quality. Amazon had the hardcover slipcase edition for $30 when the cover price is $125 during the preorder time period so several of us ordered just in case it was good.
I had the same experience with Amazon canceling the gallery edition of Walter Simonson's Terminator vs Alien book.

I was combing the last few pages to see if I could find more info on Crimson and saw some comments just about the evolution of collecting. I’d like to buy and read more, but worry about space and it slowly taking over my life haha. Already hooked and look forward to dropping a few hundred each month on new books, but haven’t had my fix since May due to moving and then the posters and framing I did in my collection room, so climbing the walls currently...
That’s why I try to pin it down to what I’ve always enjoyed reading since I was a kid.
That's a good way to start and keep things focused. It can quickly spin out of control to wanting to buy everything.

Finally bought some shelves for my Batman books. Not as much room as I had hoped but still a little room for expansion. Some of the display is temporary and still have some things to update.

Love the shelves. :) The statues are excellent though the Joker looks a little lonely. Do you have plans to add something next to him?

That space is reserved for the Tweeterhead Batman statue. Preorder is next week but won't arrive until next year. :(
To all: I created a new folder called Collection Room photos. Feel free to create your own thread for your collection, then embed or link to photos and show off what you have!

I do need to get a better camera to take pictures of my house. My phone camera is just too dark even with flash.
From this week's books I'm planning on picking up Injustice Year One. $25 for 13 issues in OHC isn't bad. The cover price is a bit more than normal but 50% release week keeps it reasonable IMHO. Also picking up Doctor Aphra vol 1 OHC and Frank Cho's Skybourne as a bit of a blind buy.
The Killraven Masterwork has a $100 cover price. 8/

Thanks Ozan. The Joker was the first one I've purchased in awhile. Once Bowen went out of business there hasn't been much that I liked (and affordable). I haven't shown the bulk of my statue collection yet.

The first DC Black Label single issues were released this week. The single issues themselves are larger than normal comic books and are being labeled by DC as prestige issues (I want to say they are also longer than typical issues at 72 pages).
DC moved to printing most of their material in Oversize format with their Deluxe editions. So far Marvel has not followed suit, which is a shame as most of Marvel's material is not getting printed in oversized collections (I just posted about the X-Men in the Marvel thread). I am still more interested in Marvel material than DC in general but it looks like DC is running away from Marvel with collected editions of current material for their fans (Marvel is still running away from DC in the movie verse).
It also remains to be seen what effect (if any) the US/China trade war might have on collected edition prices or printing sources. DC does have some of their collected editions printed in Canada. Part of the wait time between solicitation and sale is printing and shipping pallets of books between China and the US where they are the distributed by the companies (We already have books scheduled for release in Jun of next year-9 months away). If the comic book companies move away from China as their printing source it is possible we could see briefer times between solicitation and sale.

Makes me wonder if they have other worthwhile comic runs besides Irredemable.

Coda is an ongoing fantasy 12 issue series Boom Studios is putting out I would love in this type of format. I'd even be willing to spend more than the $30 I spent on the Crimson slip case. :) More here: https://www.boom-studios.com/2018/02/...

Cool. I received the second volume in the mail a bit ago and it is in my to-read stack. :) Just started reading the Morrison Seven Soldiers of Victory omnibus. I also have the new Arkham Batman omnibus, and the new Alien Library Edition in my stack.
