I have the Batman Master Race oversize box set and the leather Complete Frank Miller Batman with Year One and Dark Knight Returns. I sort of expect to eventually see a Master Race Absolute but nothing in the solicits yet.

message 4253: by Donovan (new)

Donovan | 1154 comments I’d be fine with DLXs. Already have the new BYO DLX and it’s great.

Ho..."

The books have glued binding (bummer I know). But each of the 4 books has such a small page count that I don't think sewn would have made a difference. Gutter loss is negligible.

Agreed! I thought it was the best DC Omni build quality so far.

Ozan (dotanuki) | 222 comments My Infinite Crisis, Gotham City Sirens, Weapon X The Return and Wonder Woman by Perez vol. 3 omnibuses arrived yesterday :D I have Avengers by Hickman and Batman by Morrison vol. 1 omnibuses on the way. :) I don't like the cow but i want to reread Morrison's run once more from start to finish to see, if i miss anything 'cause many people say it's DEEP lol how can you be so deep with so many silly parts is beyond me but i really like Batman and Robin run of Morrison so i'm gonna reread his whole run again.

message 4260: by Donovan (new)

Donovan | 1154 comments Silly yet somehow deep? That would be satire. 😉

Ozan, sounds like you have a lot of reading ready for you. :)

Still in the opening phases of moving. I am glad for all the Absolute boxes designed for the individual volumes I kept. Makes packing those easier. :) I am looking forward to having more shelving. :)

message 4263: by Karsten (new)

Karsten Krieg | 129 comments Added the huge Ex Machina Omnibus and the equally gigantic Infinte Crisis this week. Also in in oversize:
The Filth - really looking forward to that
Bloodshot Reborn
Vader by Killen Omnibus
Fables 15 (finally complete)
Batman Knightquest
X Men / Avengers Onslaught Omnibus

Nice additions to your shelves Karsten. I really enjoyed the Vadar book. Congrats on finishing the Fables set. Completion is a good feeling. :)

message 4265: by Nickviola (new)

Nickviola | 1019 comments Let me know how Vader is. I have no Star Wars books but have considered that one. I haven’t read any Star Wars.

message 4266: by Karsten (new)

Karsten Krieg | 129 comments Same here, will give a feedback on that Vader stuff.

Thanks, guys. My Billy begins to bulge, was not expecting that.
Next completion mission will be Invincible, I am at number 5 currently -sigh-
And of course, the Valiant stuff...

message 4267: by Karsten (new)

Karsten Krieg | 129 comments Gah, I just checked my completion status.

Walking Dead Omnibus 2 of 7
Sandman Absolute 2 of 5
Sixth Gun 2 of 5
Locke&Key 1 of 3

Well, at least none of them are OOP / stock.

message 4268: by Blindzider, Moderator (new)

Blindzider | 3293 comments Mod
I also recommend Vader. The main Star wars title was hit or miss.

If you are buying Ikea shelves the Kallax seems to be the most commonly recommended shelves for our bigger books. I think the Billy lets you buy nice doors for the front but isn't as solid for heavy books. It is sad that so many bookshelves aren't really designed to actually support full shelves of books.

I also recommend Vadar as the best of the Marvel Star Wars comic books so far (in oversize HCs). :)

Karsten, at least the books you are missing aren't OOP. :)

message 4270: by Karsten (new)

Karsten Krieg | 129 comments Reading The Filth now, Vader will be next, thanks guys.

Regarding Kallax: Do the Absolutes fit in a Kallax? The good thing with Billy is that you can arrange the heights of the shelves according to those of the books, Kallax does not have that freedom.

It appears Dark Horse Library volumes and Absolutes do fit on the Kallax shelves. It appears the shelves are listed as being 13.25 inches high and wide and slightly longer at 15.38 inches deep.

I have a couple of big Kallax shelves and yes Absolute editions do fit. I also own the Fear Agent library editions and they fit as well. Here's a photo including the Court of Owls absolute for reference

Nickviola | 1019 comments Just and FYI, things that do NOT fit in Kallax are oversized Omni hardcover (like Sixth Gun), Parker Martini edition, and the Prince Valiant box sets.

I'm in the same boat with money. I'd like to get the Teen Titans Omnibus and the SHIELD by Hickman though.

message 4280: by Ozan (new)

Ozan (dotanuki) | 222 comments I already have the first edition of Teen Titans. :D But will there be an omnibus for Shield by hickman ? i don't want to get HCs if there is possiblty of Omnibus in the future.

message 4281: by Nickviola (new)

Nickviola | 1019 comments Seems like Marvel would be pretty stupid to not or Shield together in 1 book, but I want to read them enough I just got Volume 1 (architects of forever) and will get this and swap out for a combined book of its released. Probably financially not a bad move either way.

message 4282: by The Lion's Share (new)

The Lion's Share Amazon emailed me today about the hickman avengers omnibus vol 2 being delayed. I preordered it two months ago!!

message 4283: by Nickviola (new)

Nickviola | 1019 comments Thats a bummer, sorry Cheese.

Does anyone know why Abe Sapien: The Drowning & Other Stories isnt up on IST? It seems like its for sale on Amazon and Barnes&Noble

Nick, I’d ask if they are going to restock it. I already got mine from IST

IST is showing they are sold out of that book. I also ordered a copy, I clicked on it in my order and it is now out of stock. As Erik mentioned, you can ask if they expect to get more. If Diamond distributors still has them they are likely to restock since it was just released. If Diamond does not have more copies then you might snag one off Amazon/B&N while they are reasonably priced.

I was finally able to finish the bulk of my bookshelves.

These are all of my Indie and DC books. The plan is for one more bookshelf to the right, perpendicular to these which will contain all of my Batman statues and hardcovers, which will get some of the books off the top. I'm really not sure what I'm going to do with the additional Indie stuff (like Invincible which I'm only halfway through.)

I'm enjoying it, especially the twists on common superhero tropes, but for some reason I'm not loving it yet. Not sure why.

message 4289: by The Lion's Share (new)

The Lion's Share Takes a while to get going. For me from vol 12 onwards. There’s a lot of character building.

message 4290: by Ozan (new)

Ozan (dotanuki) | 222 comments I really like Invincible :D The twist at the begining was amazing. I'm hooked ever since.

Donovan | 1154 comments It appears that Letter 44 DLX is available on IST. I’ve been playing with the idea of getting it but damn, $42 for under 400 pages, not a great price even at 13”. And I have the gut feeling it won’t be a favorite. Anyone read this series all the way through?

message 4292: by Nickviola (new)

Nickviola | 1019 comments I have the same question - also, is that Sixth Gun size?

I'm interested as well. Of Soule's stuff that I've read, it's been hit or miss.

message 4294: by Donovan (new)

Donovan | 1154 comments @Nick Looks like it’s the same size.

@B For sure. I’m at the point where I can only afford to buy favorites though. Guess I’m skipping this 🤷🏻‍♂️. Rather save my bucks for Absolute Killing Joke and the Loeb/Sale Omni in September.

Absolute Batman The Killing Joke, Transmet 3, and Alan Moore's Swamp Thing?

Kingdom Come is also this fall but I feel like you already have a copy? And, Absolute Flashpoint is now in January.

Yep those three.

I have about the HC copies of kingdom come. Don't need anymore. Glad flashpoint moved just to give a little breather.

I just finished reading Remenders Low DLX Vol 1. And he is officially my new favorite. I love Black Science and Low is probably the best science fiction comic I’ve read. The version I have is the DCBS Variant retail $50 I think I got it on IST for around $35. The book is huge IMO, about the size of fear agent and deadly class (other Remender goodness sitting on my shelf that I can’t wait to tear into.)

The actual purpose of this post however is I was about to submit a review on this, but can’t find it on Goodreads. Typically it’s as easy as scanning the bar code with the app (never works with a DCBS Variant) or I can usually find it through a simple search. If anyone can find it, would you please DM me with a link so I can get a review done on this book?

Lastly, if you can’t already tell . . . I highly recommend picking up Low in any format that you prefer, however DLX should be highly considered as the Art in this book is INSANE!

message 4299: by Nickviola (new)

Nickviola | 1019 comments Low is my favorite book of the past few years, I know that it’s not most people favorite Remender but Tocchini’s art is bananas and the story has a lot of heart and the post-apocalyptic story being taken underwater is an cool twist on the genre. The story and art in whatever issue has the mech-polar bear on the cover is Eisner level stuff.

message 4300: by Blindzider, Moderator (new)

Blindzider | 3293 comments Mod
You can add you own book. I've never done that but I had some other dcbs variant and thought about doing that. I know Rel added a book for me once.
