And back to the expensive months.. Last month was a nice break lol. For those interested, the American Gods complete hardcover edition is up on there, as well as numerous omnibus from Marvel/DC. Just check the Dark Horse listings.

Looks like Netflix is picking up Lady Killer for a tv show/mini-series.
Blake Lively to star.

I just posted pictures of the Library Edition on our companion MeWe site: https://mewe.com/join/omnibusohcgraph...

Thanks for the heads up on DCBS orders. I'll head over to see what all is available. =)

I officially have a problem . . . I’m having to go through storage to confirm if I have certain books. I am using the CLZ app, but things are still randomly showing up between home and office.

J | 531 comments Jeff, I had to delete a few items from my final cart because of the cost. As much as I want those JLD and Deathstroke omnis, I have all of that in trade pb and decided not to double dip. Had to draw the line somewhere.

Same here! I'll have to look to pick up some items when they are released (Deathstroke and JLD). I did preorder the DM version of Savage Conan and the American Gods book.

Has anyone read Lady Death, I see there are some smaller hardcovers for sale and haven't ever read any content involving her. I think seeing expensive statues of the character is the only exposure I've had to the character. Worth looking into?

I ended up getting the Savage Sword of Conan, Batman Brave and Bold Vol 3, and the Excalibur Vol 2 Omnis, in addition to a few different trades.

I also skipped the Captain Britain Omni because I'm not sure if I'm all that interested in the character, but might pick up later.

Not something I necessarily like to admit, but I had a strong affinity for Lady Death Comics when I was growing up in the 90’s. Not for the stories.

There are some die hard fans out there, some of the early stuff isn’t bad, but I think the general consensus is more cheese than not.

message 7315: by J (new)

J | 531 comments That sucks, Erik. Mine came through with no problem. Are they giving you a reason?

Meanwhile, I have a couple orders with IST that are approaching 3 months because apparently they can't find some Wonder Woman and Hellblazer trades they advertised as being in stock.

Both those situations suck, but Joseph yours in particular. 3 months?? I assume you contacted them, but my last delay (1 month) I contacted, they claimed the same thing (waiting for stock to arrive to fulfill my order) and then it shipped the next day. Maybe a coincidence, but I’m not so sure.

Looks like the release for David's Hulk omnibus 3 was bumped to 26 May 21 (Amazon has it for 1 June).

Looks like the Ether Library Edition sold out pretty quickly. I'd expect more since this seems to happen with Dark Horse books like this.

I probably should reach out. I placed a huge order with CGN back in January and a lot of the product were "special order," and it took close to three months to get that one filled, also.

What I don't understand is that the last order with them from late April contains a book which was a "new release" the day I ordered, but it's still unfilled. The book in question was the first volume of the current (?) Iron Man series, not likely a high demand book that would have sold out quickly.

I've had a couple orders in the past where a book was taking forever to come from the distributor and IST went ahead and sent the rest of the order. I eventually got the late book delivered by itself. I guess if I contact them I can ask why they haven't done that with these two orders!

message 7320: by Tigertemprr (new)

Tigertemprr | 54 comments I had to cancel two orders with IST due to them not being processed after 1-2 months. They didn't have the books anymore even though they were clearly in stock when I ordered them. They also didn't plan on ever telling me those orders were never coming. It seems strange that IST doesn't have weekly messages/updates on their front page regarding stock, news, etc.

One thing I like about OrganicPricedBooks is JP's pretty upfront/regular about communicating what's available for order, preorder, backorder, stock issues, etc., not to mention customer service doesn't take a >1week to respond.

I'm still baffled by what's going on with the Criminal Deluxe hardcovers. Did they already release and sell out at the usual places? Is volume 2 really that hard to get right now or are retailers using old cover pictures and publish date info for the new reprint (that annoyingly has the same ISBN)?

Somebody save me.

message 7321: by Relstuart, Mod+ (new)

Relstuart | 2964 comments Mod
Regarding Criminal, the reprint with the new covers are using the same ISBN# as the original printing so many places are not updating the graphic because officially, the book hasn't changed. I ordered volume 1 & 2 from IST assuming they will both be the new covers.

I understand that. Of the two orders, one is 91% picked and scanned and the other is 83%. I'm pretty patient with things but this is kinda ridiculous.

You should definitely reach out. There's always a chance that your order was deprioritized/forgotten about (like mine were) and a little nudge from the customer could be all it takes to get things moving again. I'm normally patient too, but 1 month just to process an order for "in stock" books is my limit. They're also probably going to take 3-7 business days just to respond to your email, so keep that in mind. Good luck!

message 7324: by Caleb (new)

Caleb | 14 comments I second what Tiger said. It certainly helps to reach out. IST was just sitting on one of my orders for weeks until I pointed it out to them in an email. I received my order about a week later.

message 7325: by J (new)

J | 531 comments So I actually got emails from IST today, and I'm just getting refunded for the books that are backordered.

message 7326: by Donovan (new)

Donovan | 1154 comments As someone who works in the book industry, "in stock" is also relative. It can be in stock when ordered, then out of stock when actually processed and being pulled. Same thing happened with an IST order for me. Ordered Absolute TDKR then I was told it was out of stock. So it goes.

Knowing how orders were treated a year or two ago compared to now, I really think DCBS and IST are simply understaffed. This is resulting in orders being forgotten about.

I have a DCBS preorder from April 14 and they haven’t even charged the card yet.

Because preorders are being forgotten I believe day release orders do sometimes get priority and if they sell out the preorder customers are simply told, “sorry, distributor didn’t give us enough stock.” Which is bogus as the point of a preorder is for the business to put in the order to the distributor for the proper amount.

I read most of the Bendis run as trades, as the trades came out, but i lost focus at the end parts of his run, unfortunatly... I discovered Super Hero and Star Wars statues and bust and i lost it with them.... xD I was broke all the time, no money for TPBs or any comics 'cause i spent it all on statues back then...

Now, i will read the end of the run after so many years, finally with the omnibuses. :)

Erik, I don't have the information in front of me, but I think DCBS doesn't charge your card for the previous month's preorder until the middle of the next month. My preorder was dated 4/6 and my card has not been charged yet.

I do find it strange that books I pre-ordered that came out this week have not shown up in my "next shipment" yet. In the past, the books would show up early Mondays. They very well could be understaffed, as you say. None of the books that came out this week were in high demand so don't think they just don't have them.

Didn’t IST say in one of their early newsletters something about hiring more staff? Either their business has profoundly increased during the pandemic and even with more staff they’re still getting overwhelmed, or they kept those hirings to a minimum. No judgment really from me, but I know if I was running things I’d find it highly tempting to rake in those profits and skimp out on the extra staff, especially if there are groups like us that seem to be largely forgiving of the delays. I’ve seen increased talk of IST on Reddit over the last few years, and users seem familiar with but not phased by recent delays; IST reputation is quite heathy.

Personally I find it annoying and ever-so-slightly crumbling away at my loyalty to them when I suspect they forget about certain orders I or some of you place, but considering the discounts and excellent packaging (still have yet to receive anything damaged or “used looking”), I still prefer them compared to most other unrelated options.

Awesome. Such a great transition between Bendis and Brubaker where the story didn't miss a beat. I was into statues for a while as well when Bowen was still making them. I've slacked off a lot since then as prices and statue sizes have continued to increase. I don't think I've purchased any statues or busts this year and only a couple last year. I think the last one I picked up with the DC Bombshell Batman Catwoman kiss statue.

I can't wait to finish Bendis run, then i will read Brubaker run. I also really wonder about this more optimist Waid run as well.

I don't get many statues any more as well. My country's government put crazy taxes on import toys, that includes statues from toy manufacturers or distributers or whatever... I can't afford any Sideshow anymore... so i'm out, mostly.

My latest purcheses were Iron Studios Rebrith Batman statue 1/10 and DC Direct Batman Black and White Mcfarlane statue (Version 2). I will pay crazy taxes for them but i can still afford some small statues and busts, here and there as you can see.

Most importantly i have money for comics and manga now since i don't blow it all on Sideshow Toys thanks to my goverment's crazy taxes. lol I'm back to all kind of comics HCs game as you can see.

message 7336: by JohnIV (new)

JohnIV | 76 comments It would be interesting to see how IST and its parent company prioritizes their three different purchase silos for new weekly content. (IST, DCBS, ToW)

Over the last few months I have used mainly ToW (pre-order but no charge) and I observe on IST's order history I will see my ToW orders 'go live' a day before they drop on IST. The ToW orders also seem to go to picked status sooner than my IST orders.

Ozan, I was in Antalya a few times back in the 1980s when I was in the US Navy. Antalya was always a highlight for us to visit. I never got to visit much of Turkey other than the surrounding area (except for a brief visit to Izmir), but I remember well the beautiful surroundings of the port, the beaches, and the city. I truly hope to visit again one day!

Ryan | 146 comments I just got Monsters by Barry Windsor-Smith delivered from Amazon. I’ve never had any Amazon issues that others describe, but this time, the book had some black fingerprint smudging on both the cover and back. It’s a white book so it’s pretty noticeable.

I processed an exchange, we’ll see if it happens again on the new one. I’m not too confident since the book doesn’t come in plastic.

Anyway, I’m going to read this copy in the meantime, I’ve heard good things.

I bought the original Marvel oversized softcover on release in '83 but this edition is a bit larger and of course hard cover, similar in size and quality to the Hellboy Library editions. Lets Wrightson's gorgeously detailed panels really breathe.

One idea here in the US is to look for the third party sellers. Often their price is the same as Amazon's and they generally package their books very well.
