Thanks for the data points guys, looks like I'll need to alter the location I leave my 'currently reading book' (which sometimes takes a while!) since it's ge..."
My room is chock-full of artwork and comics on display, but you could take my approach and use either blackout curtains or apply UV-blocking film to your windows to help prevent sun damage.
Looks like IST is only putting up a few DC books as their new releases today.
The new Flashpoint omnibus carries a $150 cover price. It does have 1512 pages (per Amazon). I have the Absolute already. Anybody read this event and can weigh in on how worthwhile this is?

The main story is really all you need. There are a few other tie-ins that are good world building stories (like the Amazons/Atlantean war) but there are more that is borderland just bad or can be neglected.
If you already have the Absolute I would suggest to only get the omni if you really liked the Flashpoint-world and wants to know more about what happened to other characters in that DC universe.
Yeah, third week of IST not offering much for me. Also, another week of showing DCBS May be the way to go is IST doesn’t bring back 50% off. The flashpoint Omni DCBS preorder from a few months back was $75, today on IST $87.
FYI.
IST has five omnibus up on their "Deals of the Week" for 55% off:
Adventure Into Fear Omnibus HC
Marvel Classics Comics Omnibus HC
Marvel Horror Lives Again Omnibus HC Inhyuk Lee
Marvel Horror Lives Again Omnibus HC Romita DM
Timelys Sub-Mariner Everett Post-War Omnibus

I think we already discussed this a while ago, but it's probably worth mentioning for newcomers:
DCBS is doing 50% off FOC preorders which are usually 6+ months in advance. They charge $7.50 flat shipping. For example, that Flashpoint Omnibus would've cost $82.50 at DCBS (and you're 99% guaranteed to actually receive the book), but you have to tie your money up for 6+ months. IST offers free shipping over $50 and that Omnibus costs $87 on release day (if it doesn't sell out immediately) or $84 if you have a running 2% loyalty discount. So it's only a $1.50 difference, and I personally prefer not having my money tied up for too long (I need better cash flow for wheelin' & dealin'). However, the release day rush can be stressful/inaccessible, so if you really want a book then preordering from DCBS is probably the way to go. Obviously, if you preorder more than 1 book, that DCBS shipping fee is also mitigated.
I've been using Tales of Wonder a week before release (to gather info on distributor stock, misprints, reviews/overview youtubes, etc.) for the odd books that are 48% off (/w $100 minimum order for free shipping). The problem with that last-minute "preorder" is it doesn't guarantee you a copy from their stock. And now that Organicpricedbooks is in the mix, + distributor shenanigans, and retailer seasonal promotions, etc., it's getting a little more complicated to make smart purchases.

IIRC, only the main series and a few of the tie-in series were worth reading. The Omnibros commented on which ones they liked last night: https://youtu.be/pw5AaDxe3xw?t=4459

I also interestingly sometimes see my ToW orders being activated (for picking and scanning) in their system a day before IST offers them.

Nice summary, Tigertemprr. I've been keeping an eye on OrganicPricedBooks and have used TOW before. I don't like tying my money up for that long with DCBS, but I do like the guarantee. Should also mention that TOW does free shipping at $100.

I thought this was both hilarious and irritating. I'm sure I could add a few to this collection:

I'm so used to DC changing dress it doesn't bother me but what I hate is starting a new Volume 1 in the middle of a title's run just because there is a new writer or something.

Totally agree! Matching spines look great on the shelf and if you just almost match, it's worse than if everything was different.

Tiger, your math assumes the only title ordered from DCBS is a single book. The DCBS shipping of 7.50, applies to the entire months order.

Yeah, I mentioned the shipping fee is mitigated by ordering multiple books (first big paragraph, last sentence).
I know you did, just pointing out that the difference, at least for me, equated to much more than 1.50

I’ve gone a bit overboard (over bored?) lately. Picked up New 52 Swamp Omni, Batman Morrison Omni Vol 3, Black Hammer Library Vol 2 for $41!, Batman Man Who Laughs DLX, Batman Death in the Family DLX, Batman Azzarello DLX, Batman Kings of Fear HC.
Running out of in print Bat books to buy so I’ve been eyeing Lemire Animal Man Omni, Super Sons Omni, and maybe the Geoff Johns Flash Omnis. Any must have DC stories you’d recommend?
Books expected to drop today on IST:
Attack on Titan TPB vol 33 (manga)
Backtrack TPB vol 1 (Oni Press)
Barry Windsor-Smith Monsters HC
DCeased Dead Planet HC
Gideon Falls TPB vol 6
Hack/Slash DLX edition HC vol 1
Immortal Hulk OHC vol 3
JLA Tower of Babel OHC
John Constantine Hellblazer Rise and Fall HC (standard sz)
King of Eden TPB vol 3 (manga)
Komi Can't Communicate TPB vol 12 (manga)
The Plot TPB vol 2 (Vault Comics)
Redneck TPB vol 5 (Image)
Steven Canyon HC vol 11 1967-1968
The Vain TPB vol 1 (Oni Press)
Thistlebone HC (2000AD - standard size)
Untold Tales of Spider-man Omnibus reprint (two covers)
Wolverine Epic Collection Madipoor Nights (reprint)
Backtrack TPB vol 1 description:
"A former criminal driver is given the chance at redemption by entering a car race but there's just one catch: each leg covers a different period in history.
If you had a chance to fix a mistake from your past, would you take it? Alyson Levy would.
Guilt weighs heavy on former criminal "wheelman," Alyson, who led an illicit life that left hers shattered. Enter Casper Quellex, an eccentric businessman who offers her the break of a lifetime: a massive cross-country car race that grants the winner an opportunity to correct a single mistake in their life. But here’s the catch -- each leg covers a different period in history. As if keeping the cars on the often-questionable (sometimes nonexistent) roads and staying ahead of competition wasn’t enough, the drivers will now have to contend with medieval warriors, dinosaurs, and natural disasters…it's all a possibility. Only the one who survives it all will be proven the winner, and like that, Alyson and the rest of the drivers find themselves in a gut-wrenching race through time and quickly learn that they must band together to form any chance for survival. But for an opportunity to turn back time, Alyson will drive from the Big Bang to the death knell of the universe."
Description of The Vain TPB vol 1: Chicago, 1941. A blood bank is held up in a robbery, but no cash is taken—only blood. It's the latest in a string of similar robberies and as the United States prepares to enter World War II, FBI Agent Felix Franklin is certain it's part of a wider plot to weaken the United States by depriving it of its blood supply. But the truth is much more sinister.
The four robbers are vampires: immortal, physically powerful, and after decades of honing their skills, practically untraceable. But time goes on and the vampires—who call themselves The Vain—stay the same in a world that is rapidly changing around them. As security measures evolve, stealing blood is harder every day. And with every decade that passes, Agent Franklin gets closer to finding them. Capturing them. Ending them.
The Vain is a story about wild, eternal youth, reckless rebellion, endless love, and how in the end...maybe it is better to burn out than fade away.

I really enjoyed some of the Super Sons material I read. If you don't have John's Green Lantern I would recommend that. Injustice is impressive (it is Batman vs Superman to some degree).
The current Hawkman by Venditti is something I've been following in TPB. Classic stuff that I really like would be Alex Ross's Justice with Jim Krueger and Kingdom Come by Mark Waid.
I know Identity Crisis is loathed by some but there are a couple parts of the story where grief is portrayed so well and movingly the story really stuck with me.
Birthright by Joshua Williams through Image comics is worth checking out. I'm really hoping with the series ending at 50 issues we get a hardcover collection announcement in the near future.

I ordered Immortal Hulk OHC V3, Blade of the Immortal DLX HC V1, and Constantine Rise and Fall OHC.
Decided to hold off on JLA Tower of Babel in hopes that they do a Waid JLA Omnibus.

I'll be curious to hear your thoughts on Blade of the Immortal. I've read the book myself and liked it. :)

I saw nearmint review the book and I really liked the art. I’ll probably read it quickly so I can decide on volume two although this doesn’t seem to have as rabid a following as Usagi Yojimbo. Still irritated I didn’t get a copy.

Spider-Man by Roger Stern Omni DM
X-Men Inferno Omni DM
Crawl Space huge hardcover by Rick Remender
Friend of the Devil by Brubaker and Phillips
Paper Girls deluxe hardcovers volumes 1-3
We Stand on Guard deluxe hardcover by Brian K Vaughn
Hamza, I wanted that but preferred two volumes instead of one big one so I passed. Something I’ll probably regret...

Also, it's an Omnibus, not a DLX. Amazon has it having 592 pages at a $125 retail cost.

Interesting Omnibus isn't in the title for The Complete Kirby War and Romance but it looks like the spine will state it is an Omnibus (per the picture on Amazon). It's a little too pricey for the material for me personally. I went ahead and adjusted my listing here to clarify it is an omnibus. Good looking out. =)

I thought it was strange, also. I just knew that it was pricey even with the discount at DCBS so checked to make sure. I honestly don't remember if the original solicitation said omnibus or not, but the CGN listing does, as well.
I don't figure there is a large market for this book, but wanted to ask. TBH, if Marvel or DC slaps "Kirby" on a book's cover, I'm probably going to buy it. (Same with Ditko.)
Just got my first ever shipment from DCBS. Standard "IST" packaging so all was good.
Inside was Stern's Spider-Man and the Defenders. I know someone mentioned nearmint talking about it, but that font size on the spine is infuriating. The way they did the small art at the bottom of the size is nice but so different from the other books. Now I'm wondering if they'll do the next Defenders volumes the same or "correct" it, leaving Vol. 1 the oddity.

I love Kirby, but I'm still debating this myself. I dunno how interested I am in reading romance comics. I'm hoping the Howling Commandos will eventually get some omnis, though I realize Kirby didn't illustrate the whole run.

The art for me is the draw, although some of the older romance comics weren't that bad.

If there was a chance this ended up as OHCs, I wonder if Marvel was going to split the material into two books?
Either way I'm excited to read this.

This material was my introduction to Green Lantern other than a random issue of or two in the 90s. It took me a bit to get my bearings because there is obviously a lot of backstory and characters but once I got into it I really enjoyed it.
Today I ordered Brubakers' new standard size HC, Friend of the Devil, Promised Neverland TPB vol 19, and All-New Wolverine by Tom Taylor omnibus DM cover. Love the size of this omnibus.
