Honestly, I think they already sold out. From what I understood, this week's marvel releases would be delayed. Last week's releases were still available.

noelbeast | 489 comments Yeah, I see the standard cover still available. Shocked, partially because the website wasn’t slow for me in any way, unlike other recent releases. Sometimes entering those payment details is agonizing, and I’m always afraid the site will crash on me.

message 7003: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 209 comments I got in at 2:02 CST and submitted my order shortly afterwards. Had a few issues loading things up, and checkout was slow, but it went through thankfully. Ended up cancelling the Amazon Preorder I've had for almost a year. Spent $2 more than I would have on Amazon, but worth it for the DM variant!

It was marginally slow for me. I wish I hadn't read their email because it cost me a head start on ordering since I wasn't expecting the books to be there.

Being slow during the payment stuff is scary to me as well. That is why I gave up on using Paypal because it was a just another step that could fail.

I also went ahead and pre-ordered The Death of Captain America Omnibus as well as X-Factor by Peter David from dcbs. Going to try and just pre-order the stuff I really want. Anything questionable I'll wait for IST.

For DoCA, I actually got the standard cover. I love the simplicity of it.

I was too late for the DM cover of Uncanny X-Men vol 4 but I don't have all DM covers for those anyway. I ordered the standard cover. Nice to see it still available an hour late. =)

J | 531 comments FWIW looks like IST is making some progress on my 4 outstanding orders. All but the one I made yesterday are almost completely picked/scanned. (yay)

And getting my next DCBS shipment Friday. (double yay)

Jeff | 209 comments My UXM4 order just shipped from IST, but my order from 3 weeks ago is still in process lol. I guess the single item order was easier to handle?

Same here. Hey my IST order shipped! But yesterday’s, not the Feb. 2nd order...

Variants are cool, but go with what you like. Plenty of omnis have wolverine on a cover, but Caliban and Blob . . . That’s unique.

Ryan | 146 comments Just ordered Batman by Paul Dini Omnibus from Amazon. Only $64 right now if anyone else has been waiting for a good price.

J | 531 comments Ryan wrote: "Just ordered Batman by Paul Dini Omnibus from Amazon. Only $64 right now if anyone else has been waiting for a good price."

Thanks for the heads up. Snagged me a copy. I haven't had any problems with Amazon shipping omnibi, just on smaller trade paperback orders. So far...

I also snagged a copy of Batman by Grant Morrison Omnibus Vol 3 on ebay for 49.95 from a store I buy from regularly, "dheader". Shipping on just that book is $8, but I grabbed about $100 worth of books with shipping still rather high at $15, but the other books I grabbed were older Marvel HCs that were $4.95 each or so, and I didn't feel *too* out of sorts about the shipping. Had eight books total.

message 7013: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 146 comments No problem, I figured someone else would jump on that deal too. I’ve also never had an issue with Amazon shipping. I’ve had Omnis come with zero padding in a box where it has too much space to move around, but I’ve been lucky and had no issues. Worst case, it’s crazy easy to do returns/exchanges with them.

Dheader is a good seller on eBay. Bought a lot from them over the years and never any problems. Good for books that start to get scarce—prices begin to rise, but dheader stays relatively fair.

J | 531 comments Josh wrote: "Anyone know if the Dawn of X TPB’s will continue past volume 16?"

So I haven't seen anything solicited for beyond Dawn of X vol 16, but I did check out the contents for the X of Swords HC coming out today/tomorrow, and it looks as if it is picking up the various X titles from where they left off in previous DoX volumes. The only duplicate I saw was X-Men #12, which is supposed to be in DoX vol 16. Good chance one of those books will not have that issue, but we'll see.

Perhaps Marvel will start another DoX type run of TPBs after X of Swords. Not really looking forward to picking up all of those individual titles afterwards.

I don't remember seeing anything in the latest batch of solicitations. Does anyone else?

noelbeast | 489 comments Doesn’t answer your question, but I’ve lost track of when the X of Swords HC is supposed to be releasing. This week? Based on Amazon info I pushed it to March 16th in my notes, but now Amazon is saying April 6th, which would be March 30th for us IST/LCS/etc. folks.

boymeetscomics | 79 comments I noticed a new website for preordering books. Has anyone tried organicpricebooks.com? Not sure how reliable they are but given the recent complaints about IST, probably worth a try.

Gem Mint gave them a shout out on his channel last week. The owner is an active member on the FB omni collectors page, and he's very responsive. I think the first round of people got their books and the packaging was IST level. The owner has added more marvel omnis and says as soon as he gets more business he will get larger discounts and will able to order a wider variety of books. Seems like a good thing.

Nickviola | 1019 comments I don’t have a ton of books the next few month, but Match has a lot - then again I’m so confused when anything actually comes out anymore so who knows:

BPRD: Devil You Know HC
Captain America (Kirby) Omnibus
Daredevil (Zdarsky) OHC 1
X-Men: Inferno Omnibus
FF (Slott) OHC 1
Doctor Aphra Omnibus 1
X-Men Omnibus 2
World of Black Hammer LE 2
Ragnarok HC 3
X-Men: X of Swords

Looks like IST must have it in stock if they are selling it today. That said, they do sometimes get a partial order in and sell out quick but get a restock a short time later. I'll try to pick one up along with the Blade of the Immortal DLX 2 and the Doctor Doom TPB vol 2.

noelbeast | 489 comments Yup, there it is! Finally!

message 7031: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 209 comments 2 minutes in and Conan vol 5 DM variant is sold out?? I got one, but still! That's nuts. X of Swords is still up though, both versions. Managed to snag the darkness HC too which I'm happy about.

message 7032: by noelbeast (new)

noelbeast | 489 comments Personally I think IST needs to start setting limits on all products per transaction, and hopefully they’re not being targeted by bots. I was just talking with someone recently about the growing issue of resellers with these books. They likely buy large quantities on discount services like IST and then immediately flip for MSRP or even above.

message 7033: by J (new)

J | 531 comments Damn, X of Swords sold out while it was in my cart.

I was able to pick up the three books I wanted with no issues.

All the Conan DM versions seem to sell out pretty quickly. I do think the DM versions consistently have better/more typical to the original content cover art work.

Crap. I was on a phone interview so I couldn't look and I missed it too.

@noelbeast - That wouldn't surprise me. I read Newegg has that problem and implemented a type of lottery system to try and stop it.

Not sure if I want to try and hunt it down or not. I suspect it'll show up in my library at some point.

That sucks. I like to think it's likely they will get more copies. The House of X OHC also sold out for a while after release but they have the regular cover back in stock.

message 7038: by J (new)

J | 531 comments I'm not picky about covers, and I didn't really know the difference between the two being offered for XoS. And I guess I'm the weirdo, though, bc I actually prefer the non-DM covers for the Conan books (and the Shang-Chi/Deadly Hands of Kung-Fu), But anything else I'll take what I can get.

Oh, that really sucks!

You can still order it on Amazon (regular cover) but it isn't much of a discount. I don't know. I think I'm willing to wait, fairly certain like Relstuart says, that they'll get more. Not having read it, I'm hesitant, and not having seen an X-Men OHC yet, I might wait.

Wow, that's crazy if that's being done. It does seem odd, to me, that they have that many orders that quickly. I would think a retailer like IST were getting in a rather large number of copies. It's never made sense to me that things sell through so fast.

message 7043: by Josh (new)

Josh Angel | 48 comments I’ve switched from IST to Tales of Wonder, which is the same company, because they do preorders. No more stressing about release day and being able to buy things before they sell out. I buy everything months in advance and just wait for them to be delivered. DCBS does the same, though they hold each order until everything is released and send it all in a bunch to you.

I bought the DM cover variant of X of Swords HC months ago, and it’s nice to know they’ll have it set aside for me.

May be worth looking into!

Well, it’s all speculation really. eBay has several of the books listed from $85-140, DMs and standards, with some sellers listing multiple copies. One sold today on an offer. Just out of curiosity I reached out to the seller and asked if he’d sell me another for $60–he told me he couldn’t go any lower than $80. FOMO will probably drive a few more sales in the next few days.

I managed to secure a purchase of the X of Swords DM and a couple other books I already had in my cart a minute after the new releases became available. I don’t recall anything to stop me from increasing my quantity of the DM to something like 3 or 4 copies. I detest the idea of it, but I think I could’ve easily bought a few and flipped to turn a profit, at least enough to essentially nab myself one at no cost.

I just started doing preorders with DCBS four or five months ago or so, and I guess I missed when XoS was offered. That first month I didn't place a large order so may have just skipped it if that was when it showed up.

My books are shipped not when the entire order is filled, but at the end of the month I get whatever was released that month.

message 7046: by Nickviola (new)

Nickviola | 1019 comments Does DCBS charge as soon as you order or when the books ship?

message 7047: by J (new)

J | 531 comments When you make an order, you have until a certain date, I think the third week of the month, to edit that order. After that date has passed, then your payment choice is charged. There are options as to how often you get your books (monthly, twice Monthly) but I opt to get mine once a month. The shipping charge depends on frequency of shipping.

Erik may have some additional insights. Not sure who else started pre-ordering recently.

message 7048: by Josh (new)

Josh Angel | 48 comments I believe they charge you when they ship, but I think there are several options. I’ve only ordered from them once. I order almost exclusively from ToW now, and they charge when you check out.

message 7049: by J (new)

J | 531 comments I think getting charged when your books ship would defeat the purpose of pre-ordering.

Checked my account and every order before February's has been billed for. February is closed for editing but I can still add items. That order has not been charged yet.

message 7050: by Josh (new)

Josh Angel | 48 comments I agree, that’s why I only ordered once from DCBS. I’ve ordered from ToW since then and love it. Super convenient. I’ve seen some folks say that if you preorder something only a week or two before release they may run out, so you do have to plan ahead.
