That umbrella academy should of came out when the show dropped. Would have sold like hot cakes for sure.

It's funny that these companies can't seem to sync up the comic releases with the shows/movies. Maybe they wait to see if the show/movie is a hit first? I don't think Marvel released much of anything for Ant-Man. DC barely released anything for Aquaman... some lost opportunities...

Blindzider wrote: "Since Umbrella Academy wasn't on full discount, and Absolute Arkham Asylum didn't come out, I'm going to hold off on UA. Hopefully it won't sell out."

I'm going to guess that you're OK, at least for a week or two. I think the Dark Horse LE's tend to have decent print runs. Seems like the Buffy's were the ones that went OOP most quickly of recent memory and that took a little while.

Speaking of Buffy, I took no chances and preordered the BOOM! Buffy Season 11 LE from DCBS yesterday. First time I've ever preordered a book for fear of it selling out, but I think that one will sell out quickly.

He’s a great artist, and in my opinion his connecting covers for HOX/POX #1 was an excellent way to kick off the series. The rest of them are pretty good: #2 & #4 are particularly amazing, and #6 is shaping up to look pretty cool as well. Only really disappointed with the covers for #5, but I’ve got room on a wall where I can display all the sets, and since they’re really revitalizing the X-Men with this series—perfect opportunity to add to my comic room.

So far some of the best X-Men I’ve read in years. Just keep your head down to avoid spoilers. Certain reddit communities have sucked recently.

I recommend getting the first TBP ($5.79 on IST) and checking it out. It's a dark funny take on the child whisked off to a fantasy world. Here however, instead of reacting with awe and wonder, after being stuck there for forty years, she hates everything and everyone. It's the best thing from Scotty Young I've read. :)

I didn't realize the DCBS version of the first HC was gone. I think I gave my copy to a family member though I just ordered the second volume.

Sadly, I don't think you'll have any luck finding the DCBS variant of book 1 if you're looking for another copy. Once it sold it out it's like it never existed. I've never seen it anywhere since. I think the print run is extremely limited. I picked up one for my GF who is a big Skottie Young fan, and right after I got it for her the variant disappeared. There was no announcement that there would be another variant for volume 2 so when I saw it on IST yesterday I snatched it up quickly before it's gone.

You may want to let that family member know they have a very rare and potentially valuable book. Not for resale I mean, but just in case they have it sitting on the back of the toilet for bathroom reading material, maybe it should go on a shelf instead, LOL. :-)

Yup! A friend asked me if I was going to get them all graded all said and done, but this seems more logical to see the connecting covers together. I'm also getting the HC, just to enjoy the books in the future. Really hoping the HC includes all the variants for every issue. I recently saw a POX theme across issues #'s 1-6 all together, and while they don't connect to each other, still cool to see the overall plan of one of the variant artists.

Got the arc reactor here, from a Chinese seller on ETSY: https://www.etsy.com/listing/68835752...
About $175 with the case. Some cool light features, very high quality, (most of it is metal), and took about 2-3 weeks to arrive. Well worth the cost to me!

I finished reading 20th Century Boys Perfect Edition TPB vol 1 last night. I read it before going to sleep over the last few nights. The story switches back and forth between the main character's present and his boyhood in the past as well as the viewpoint of a few other characters.

I've seen some very enthusiastic praise for the series both here and elsewhere. I wasn't feeling this one but the very end of book one starts bringing some things together and I could see this getting a lot more interesting. Just ordered book 2 from Amazon.

I'm very ready to get off work to go home and fire up Borderlands 3....

Borderlands 3! You on PC, or a particular system? I’m looking forward to getting my copy, though I ordered the Super Deluxe Ed. through Amazon and apparently it won’t get here until next week...

Borderlands 2 was absolutely one of my favorite games back in the day, and I played the hell out of it. Completely agree with the humor being fantastic, and hoping for another excellent installment. Enjoy!

My second favorite. I'm still trying to find the hardcover set for a reasonable price so I can read it straight through. I never read some of the early stuff and didn't read every week so I've missed quite a bit.

Very nice. Looks like the large size Silver Surfer Parable hardcover is sold out on IST. Amazon seems to have plenty of copies at the moment though.

I do hope we get another oversize King Batman book in the future and we aren't left hanging with just half his run in that format.

My order today: Fairlady, Head Lopper, Simon Says, and Lazarus OHC vol 3.

I Kill Giants got a movie and some awards so it's pretty highly thought of. The OHC is harder to find at cover price or less. Looks like you can get one off Ebay for around $100. I bought the paperback a few years ago.

I was more surprised that the Black Science #2 was starting to get pricier seeing that it is a more recent printing. I expect a second printing of that to be honest.

For recent pickups: Umbrella Academy #1, Black Badge #2, Hellstorm Omnibus by Ellis, Yellow/Blue/Gray/White Omnibus, Locke&Key Master #3 (finally) and Britannia / Valiant.

- Loeb/Sale Yellow, Blue, Grey, White omnibus
- The Borgias
- Batman Eternal omnibus

On the way:
- Marvel Knights by Joe Quesada omnibus
- Amazing Spider-man by Michelinie & McFarlane omnibus
- Amazing Spider-man by Michelinie & Larsen omnibus
- Amazing Spider-man by Straczynski omnibus vol 1

I was on the fence for a Spider-Man omnibus for some time. Felt probably not my cup of tea (I'm a fan of Vertigo stuffs, so figure), but wanted to try it. When I saw McFarlane omnibus starting disappearing everywhere, I got panic and bought 3 with good deals from IST and CGN...

There is a new printing tpb (with the movie post cover) available and very cheap, I think slightly over $10 on IST.

IMHO, it's ok but not great. The movie is even worse. For similar topic, I strongly recommend the novel A monster calls by Patrick Ness. It has a movie too, and it's also very very good. I watched twice and my eyes got wet twice, and my wife cried like a baby...

It’s usually when I’m not home placing an IST order to get the extra 2% in time and get free.

I talked about DC's Black Label effort when it was announced a while back. It's a more adult serious place for DC to do some mini-series to tell stories with some of their characters without worrying about whether they fit in continuity.

Finished reading Batman Damned hardcover. While some older stories have gotten the Black Label designation, this is the first new story created under this new label. The book had some controversy when the single issues were released as an issue showed Batman's genitalia. As this got news coverage, DC reacted and said this isn't the type of content they will be doing going forward, and any subsequent prints (and the online version) will have the art changed.

The quality of the hardcover book is very well done with a plastic feeling cover and larger size than the normal for the deluxe hardcover line. The interior art is also done pretty well. I thought the story was just ok.

I like the large format and I hope we continue to get hardcovers like this. That said, the hardcover solicit for Batman Last Knight under the Black Label imprint says it is a standard size hardcover. The initial solicit for Batman Damned was also listed as standard size, which was later changed, so hopefully this changes for Last Knight as well.

Other Black Label books coming are:
Batman White Knight DLX
Harleen with (sure to be fantastic) art and also story by Stjepan Sejic
Joker: Killer Smile by Lemire with art by Sorrentino
Superman Year One (Frank Miller)
The Question: The Deaths of Vic Sage also by Lemire

Hmm. I might just keep my Amazon pre-order for this after all, unless IST can sell for less than $35 (and Amazon is still selling the book at that price with free shipping). Cool about the additional pages! Unfortunate that we don’t know what they’ll contain, but I feel like this will almost certainly mean that all variant covers will be included—each comic had about 6-7 variants. It’s cool to see some of the beginning to end themes the various artists went for now that you can find almost all the covers online. It’ll be nice to have them all grouped together in one collection.

Yes, I really had to fight the urge to pre-order those. Also not really looking to start another collection of singles, so I’ll just wait for an eventual collected edition. Still torn on what to do about The X-Cellent next year, though. I love the Allred’s and Milligan’s work, and X-Statix was one of my favorite lines. .

As for HOX/POX, originally I was just going to buy the first issues and leave it at that, but the story immediately sucked me in to the point that I didn’t want to wait, and I liked the plans for all the connecting variants (plus I have a spot on my wall to display them) so I jumped in. Luckily I started early enough that eBay pre-sellers were still charging MSRP for the variants I wanted.

Excaliber is coming back as an X-Men comic. :) Looks like an expansion to 6 X-Men titles (not counting Deadpool) with Hickman writing two of them. I kinda feel like the Hickman stuff will all get oversized hardcovers. Obviously his stuff sells well so it seems like an obvious choice. I would be surprised to see the other four series all get oversize hardcovers along with Hickman's work.

Been reading Samurai Executioner and enjoying it.

That being said, four of my last five reviews have all been downers, need the next selection off the shelf to be a good one . . . still so many to choose from from inside my house. Having so many unread on the shelf and the lack of must pick ups has been saving my wallet over the past couple months, but I did recently grab Black Badge Vol. 2, Umbrella Academy and Batman Damned.

Only read the first issue in Batman Damned . . . don't see what the big deal is so far . . . nor why this is an "Adult Comic." I feel I've read tons of Batman stories just like this on the regular DC label.

It is totally worth picking up in hardcover.
