Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3792 comments I would love to read the Legend trilogy but I won't have time until January either.

Bwahaha! I hear ya! It took me weeks to finish my resume and I didn't apply for a certain position until it was 4 hours away from no longer being open, but I could sit here and plan my reading for days on end.

We should do like a crazy TT that runs for like 6 months or something lol

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments I posted requests for series buddy reads over in the Featured Series Reads "New Year New Series" thread. I wasn't sure if I should request there or here but there made more sense. Anyway, I know the mods are all busy and that's cool, I just wanted to let someone know for when they get a chance to check it out. Thanks!

I wonder how long it will take us to reach 20,000 points. It seems like a lot but when you consider how many people are salivating at the thought of buddy reads giving them points, it might not be as hard to obtain as one might think.

That's what I mean! We should do something like 100,000 points and see how long it takes lol Okay, may be going a little overboard

message 307: by Greta (new)

Greta | 1459 comments MODS- We would like a thread for Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon starting November 17th. Some of the people reading are Taryn, Rebecca, Anita, Nicole, Greta

message 308: by Joi (new)

Joi | 665 comments Can I join Greta?

message 309: by Greta (new)

Greta | 1459 comments Yes, of course! I was just listing off names I saw but there were so many comments...all are always welcome :-)

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments Haha! I love the way you think.

TT is my absolute favorite 'challenge' because it can be so fun and motivating to watch team points go up, to interact with your own team as well as opposing teams, plus it just feels like a fun game to me and I love games. Oh, and it doesn't require you to read a certain number of books each week.

Last year, there were some fun little inter-team challenges and battles being waged to see which of two teams could read more pages within a certain time span, and so on, not to mention all the puzzles that the mods threw at us so we could earn "cupcakes" (currency) to spend on points. That got a little crazy but it was still fun and creative on the mods' parts.

Joi | 665 comments Greta wrote: "Yes, of course! I was just listing off names I saw but there were so many comments...all are always welcome :-)"

Thanks. I've been wanting to read it for a while now but haven't had the motivation to. I think reading with friends is just the motivation I need.

message 312: by Greta (new)

Greta | 1459 comments Yes, and it's a great story so far...I started it but want to wait and read the rest with others so I will wait!

I already couldn't wait for this challenge, and now you have made me ever more excited which I didn't think was possible. Mentioning cupcakes? Shoot.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments I swear, you mention a cupcake or some other scrumptious treat and eventually a picture will make its way into the thread, hehehe! Love the book cupcakes, Kelly!

Now I want a cupcake. It's bedtime and I have none.

message 319: by [deleted user] (new)

I'd want all the Nicolas Sparks books on them so I could eat them and pretending I'm destroying the actual books.

Sure Nicole, I'll make a note of it. I have you down for Crime and Punishment on November 12th, Outlander on November 17th, and The King's Curse on November 8th. Any others that I've missed?

message 322: by Karla (new)

Karla Beck(Ducky) I'd be interested in a buddy read of Stolen A Letter to My Captor by Lucy Christopher in November. I would need it to be kind of relaxed, if I get the job I want I would only be able to read about 50 pages a day.

If you'd like to read
Stolen A Letter to My Captor by Lucy Christopher ,
the old BOM thread with discussion questions is here:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

So, would that count as a BOM for the Tower Teams, or a Buddy Read? Since it's an old BOM, can you still write discussion questions for the points? If not, it'd be better for it to count as a Buddy Read, since you get 10 points more for BRs.

I'd count it as a BR as the BOM is in the past

I just reserved Halo from the Library, so if you can wait by reading it until January that would be perfect?

Touch I could read in December if you want?

Thanks, oh great and powerful mods!

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments Note to Mods:

For the Buddy Reads Requests, you have Becky requesting a buddy for Death Without Company (Walt Longmire, #2) by Craig Johnson . It is book 2 in the "Longmire" series. Well, she and I have discussed it and we are going to do a series buddy read (with a 3rd person, so far) for the entire Longmire series so you can probably remove that from her requests. I've requested a series buddy read for it over in Featured Series Reads. We will be starting it on/around November 8th.

While you're there, I put in a request for another series buddy read. :)

Thanks!!
