Could you set us up a buddy read for The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco starting 6th December? There are three of us so far...

message 352: by ❀Tea❀ (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9624 comments I thought it was already set up?!

OK, give me few and I'll get to it (if someone doesn't beat me to it) ☺

message 353: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments TT is my favorite too because reading for a team makes me keep the TV off more and read instead.

I'll have to check out the new year new series buddy read thread. I don't normally do the buddy reads but figured I'd try them out.

You need a thread for chat and a thread for official requests.

You're right - it is too. It just hasn't got a date on it yet and hasn't been linked from this post so I missed it. Sorry - my bad!

message 356: by Karla (new)

Karla Jeshika wrote: "Could I join in? I've just recently got this book and never done a buddy read before. :D "
Of course! The more the merrier. I've tried doing buddy reads twice. Both times were disappointing, so I'm hoping third time's the charm.

Beth (Ducky) wrote: "Sure! We can do it around November 8th and then both just read slowly while I do some other buddy reads. If that's okay with you? "

I'll head to the library today and see if I can get a copy. If it looks like I can't get one before the eighth, I'll let you both know.

While you're here, any wishes on LotR?

It is a bit crazy

❀Tea❀ wrote: "While you're here, any wishes on LotR?"

I'm up for starting whenever. I've got them ready to read, so when you can.

Karla Trinity wrote: "I am looking for some buddy reads in December, would anyone like to read any of these?"

I'd be interested in reading Deadly Little Lies (Touch, #2) by Laurie Faria Stolarz . I'll reread the first one in November and be ready in December.

message 360: by Srividya (new)

Srividya Vijapure (theinkedmermaid) | 1160 comments I am going to stop coming here... I want to read all the books!! And I am yet to complete my planned reads, which always goes for a toss when I see other books! *sigh* :) :)

@Sarah - when are you planning to read The Boys in the Boat Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics by Daniel James Brown ? I just found that I have it with me and would love to do a BR...but November is looking really busy with other books. However, I can squeeze it in if you are still going ahead with reading it. Can't resist the BR addiction, you see! :)

Sarah | 3273 comments @ Srividya. Oh I would love for you to join me with this one. It has the highest waiting list on my Overdrive, but I have already read 40% and am just waiting to get it back from the library - I should have it by around Dec. 7th, which is a good time for me to squeeze it in. Everyone I have talked to absolutely loves this book. I have loved it so far... And it is about a row team, a row team, I just would have never thought, but I love it and can't wait to get back to it. Defenitely would love to discuss. I hope that slot will work for you? Please join me.

I am defenitely not adding anything more for November. I have already put certain books on hold for all my BRs. It is cray cray up in here.

message 363: by Srividya (new)

Srividya Vijapure (theinkedmermaid) | 1160 comments Sure Sarah. December 7th suits me perfect :) can't wait to read it as I have also heard a lot of good things about the book.

Thanks Muffin :)
I originally created it for the mods to have an easy way to check if a book nominated for a BOM has already been read in the group. But now, with all these BRs, I figured it was worth sharing so everyone has an easy way to find threads. Although with so many threads being set up every day I'll have to be better at keeping it up to date ;)

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6397 comments Abbie wrote: "Mods,
Abbie ,Pigetto,Logan, and Mary: Harry Dresden's Love Slave, are doing The Map of Time (Trilogía Victoriana, #1) by Félix J. Palma in November."

Ooh, that looks good. I'll join in on that one too.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments Hehe, I was thinking that when I saw the most recent update date on it.

It's funny - I had planned to scour through all of the author names and the series reads thread and all the buddy reads threads to find out which books had all been discussed but you just took care of that for me with that handy sheet. <3 <3 <3

Now I can put my efforts to combing through that ever-growing Buddy Reads Request thread to set up a list of all upcoming buddy reads for my group's perusal.

message 390: by Marla (new)

Marla | 1803 comments For TT3, I am looking for a November 8th buddy to read Unravel Me (Shatter Me #2), Shadow of Night (Discovery of Witches #2, which already has a Buddy Read thread), Radiant Shadows (Wicked Lovely #4) or Club Dead (Sookie Stackhouse #3)

message 391: by Esther (new)

Esther (nyctale) Teresa, for Ready Player One, I am really hoping for mid-November but I am at the mercy of the readers that reserved the eBook before I did. Set a date ad I will pop up when I can.

I would like to find buddies for The Swan Thieves and The Blade Itself I.am thinking of the end of November/early-December.

@ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) I would prefer to start it any time during the first half of November or on the beginning of December. But since I have it with me I'll probably can fit it any time that is convenient to the group. :)

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3792 comments Is anyone else interested in a buddy read for the The Lord of the Rings (The Lord of the Rings, #1-3) by J.R.R. Tolkien trilogy anytime in the next couple months?

Or would anyone want to read The Rosie Project (Don Tillman #1) by Graeme Simsion in November? I think this one might actually be part of a series.

I might be tempted to join if it maybe could be starting late December or January at the earliest. I'm just fully booked for November and most of December.

message 399: by Zara's Retreat (new)

Zara's Retreat I hope this is the right place to do this.

I have a few books I'm reading in November and I wondered if anybody here would be interested in reading them with me.

Sophie's World by Jostein Gaarder by Jostein Gaarder - The Rosie Effect (Don Tillman #2) by Graeme Simsion by Graeme Simsion - Ponting At The Close Of Play by Ricky Ponting by Ricky Ponting (this is a two month one due to its size)

There may be others to come. I haven't finalised everything yet.
As to starting them - I own all these books so I can start anytime. The 'Ponting' one I plan to start on the 1st November so I can get as much time as I can to read it.

Sophie's World was the first favorite book I ever had. I will never forget the moment I finished that one.
