December 23rd works for me too. No problem Kristin, it's a 500+ pages book so I will go slowly. Besides if it happens that I'm finished before I will discuss it with you afterwards anyway.

I would be interested in reading The Bell Jar with you toward the later part of November!

Renee (reneeconoulty) | 3309 comments OK. I think we have made all agreed on buddy reads a thread up to this point. If we missed any, please post another message.

The individual books are listed at the beginning of this thread. The series can be found HERE in the Featured Series Read folder.

Nancy (nancyhelen) | 1469 comments I wonder whether anyone would like to read The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco by Umberto Eco as a buddy read?

I need to read it for a challenge (not surprisingly, it is for "book that most intimidates you") and I have been putting it off. If anyone else was brave enough to have a go, I might actually get it read?

I am a slow reader too! I'm sure we will all keep pace. The holidays are busy here too and there is no schedule, so no pressure. Looking forward to this one!!

I have that one on my TBR list, I'm booked with books at the moment though, so would you be able to wait until December?

Anita and Srividya, I'm very happy with December. I have a stack of books already lined up for November too. Any specific date? Would you prefer earlier or later in the month?

message 159: by Srividya (new)

Srividya Vijapure (theinkedmermaid) | 1160 comments Anytime in December is fine with me as I haven't really planned my December reads as of now, so am pretty flexible. So, whatever suits you and Anita is fine with me.

message 160: by Anita Reads (last edited Oct 23, 2014 08:05AM) (new)

Anita Reads | 1677 comments Ok. Great.
I'm just at the library now, and will be able to get it now.

EDIT:
Whenever in December is fine with me, I'll re-borrow the book so I'll have it for 2 months.

I should have never gone there now I have 5 more books to fit into my reading plans. I still have 2 books from last time I went.

The Gunslinger (The Dark Tower, #1) by Stephen King Whiskey Beach by Nora Roberts The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco The Calling (Darkness Rising, #2) by Kelley Armstrong Secret Lives (Darke Academy, #1) by Gabriella Poole Blue Bloods (Blue Bloods, #1) by Melissa de la Cruz Desires of the Dead (The Body Finder, #2) by Kimberly Derting

So if anyone is willing to join me in a buddy read with one of those not already mentioned, that would be cool.

message 161: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments What is this Darke Academy you speak of

*hurries to check*

ooooohhhhh nice...

Ohhhh the body finder #2

OK, I must stay away from this thread.

Thank you for the Featured Series link! I could not find it earlier for some crazy reason.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments Anita, when do you think you will read Whiskey Beach by Nora Roberts ? I might join you on that BR. Been in a Nora mood and I have not read that one.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments Is anyone interested in doing a series buddy read of the Women's Murder Club, by James Patterson? I really hadn't ever planned to read these but I have a real-life friend who loves them so I wanted to be able to chat with her about them and figured, why not see if anyone here would read along, too! It can be an relaxed/informal read where we could start when we want or we can commit to a book a month. I'm flexible on that one.

Christine, for The Bell Jar, I need to start it by November 23 because I have one more renewal and that will make the book due in that final week of November. If you can't start it when I do, you can always participate in a discussion and still get points.

Bookworm problems: All of my holds are coming in and I've already got my max number of books checked out and instead of reading I'm sitting here planning other books to read, LOL!! Oh, woe is me, I have a 7 hour day at work. Wish I could call in sick, haha!! Not really... okay, maybe! LOL.

I haven't decided that yet, when would you have time to start. I don't know if I'm able to renew this from the library once i'm further in the month as her books are usually pretty popular at my library.
I'm also loving NR books at the moment. Read the Witness last month and loved it.

This goes for you stacie too :)

In fact, I'll check it out of the library today. I'm going to sacrifice GR time to go get it before work, haha! So, say the word and I'm ready for it!

I just want you all to know, I've accidentally allowed my delicious hazelnut coffee go cold because I'm having so much fun planning these reads, haha! <3

I better read Alex Cross series before starting something else by him. I have never read anything by James Patterson actually, but have heard a lot of good about him.

Ok. Let's see when Stacie can read it, and we can decide on when to start it then.
It's also more than 400 pages long, so it will give great points in the TT challenge.

Good thinking on the points/page thing!! Maybe I'll just go pick it up next week since I clearly have not gotten up off my butt yet, plus TT3 doesn't start for 2 more weeks.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments Thanks, Red Baron! I know I need to go through the BR thread to find old discussions and see if I am going to be reading any of them. I believe there was a BR or BOM for Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, #1) by Marissa Meyer and I want to read that one eventually.

I know this has been mentioned a million times but I just want to clarify -- if we read a past BOM (*not* buddy read) and actually go through and participate in the Q&A that are posted, we get points? Or do we only get them if an opposing team member plays along with us? And if it has to be an opposing team member, do they have to be new to the BOM, as well, or could it be someone who has read the book and answered the Q&A already but are now sharing in a discussion with myself/whomever? ((Taking this Q to the TT3 FAQ thread, too))

message 182: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3792 comments I think you can get points if there is still a discussion going on / if you discuss with someone else. I don't know if you can just answer the questions or not.

I think I'd like to read Cinder also though, so it may be okay. Lets see what the Mods say.

message 186: by B'burg Linda (new)

B'burg Linda | 24 comments @Sarah and ilovebakedgoods Teresa) - I would be interested in joining you in reading 'Mudbound' if you are reading it in Dec. or Jan. Like Teresa, this book has been on my shelf for a long time. Doing a BR would motivate me to get it read; it just sounds like it will have such a sad ending!

Teresa, I would also be interested in a holiday read. I went to see/hear David Sedaris last night and now I'm psyched for a reread of 'Holiday on Ice'. Any interest?

Teresa, I'd be interested in joining you on this. I've just re-read the first one, so will get going from the second (which will also be a re-read, but it has been so long that I can't really remember it). I think I read up to 3, and then stopped so I'd love to get back to them.
