Read-a-Thon #2 - Team Bumblebee

So excited for this readathon
Just started reading The Secret Garden, which starts with an S, written by a woman, set in England, I'm reading as a kindle book form the library, published 1911, and will count for ATY (somehow, have some finagling to do).
Hopefully will finish it Friday or Saturday, but I have work and a wedding, so we can see where we are then. .
Probably up next:
Things Fall Apart
Interview with a Vampire

I was going to start the Hunger Games next but can change accordingly.

I'm currently about 33% done with The Peace War (La guerra de la paz), my version (in spanish) have 380 pages. I'm reading it as a Kindle book, published 1984, and will count for ATY (Prompt #52).
I'm goint to continue reading but I will wait in the last chapter if in this moment the book is not in the correct bucket and will start with other.
Your graphic has now been posted above.
Wide flasks = page count
Thin flasks = book count
As you fill the initial flasks, the water will move down the line, in order to fill the large beaker below. You will fill small test tubes by earning questions (4 per tube).
Win the game by filling the large beaker and guessing the author name. This will light your team's lightbulb.
The team to light their bulb first will earn a special badge :)

I hate to say it, but I am off to bed.
I will definitely be working in the morning in order to get our spreadsheet ready to go and to put together my own reading plan. I'm excited for this read-a-thon since I am likely going to be off work Monday and my husband is away on a business trip. Plenty of time for reading!

I’m late to the party... do we need to check off all the tasks in a bucket, or just one?

I'm currently reading De Celestijnse belofte, it can fill:
- set in Peru
- published 1993
- ATY challenge
- new to me author
- cover related to nature
I can finish it tomorrow.
Other books I can read, but still need to start:
A Hopeless Romantic
- book by a woman
- set in England
- published 2006
- ATY challenge
- new to me author
- blue cover
Machtsspel
- book by a woman
- set in Sweden
- published 2010
- ATY challenge
The Boy at the Top of the Mountain
- on page 6 of my TBR
didn't check if it fits the other prompts
Främlingen
- Blue cover
- on page 6 of my TBR
didn't check if it fits the other prompts
I can't do all the books I still need to start, but depending on the length I can do two of them. I can also look for books for other prompts if needed.

It don't think bucket 2 will be a problem, but I haven't seen anyone mention a book published in 2019 for bucket 3 and we need two of those.

It don't think bucket 2 will be a problem, but I haven't seen anyone mention a book published in 2019 for bucke..."
I'm definitely going to try and read A Curse So Dark and Lonely for the 2019 prompt and raid my books for another 2019 publication =)

It don't think bucket 2 will be a problem, but I haven't seen anyone mention a book published in 2019 for bucke..."
I am starting a book published in 2019 next! The Woman from St. Germain - it was a gift from my roommate, I don't know much about it but it was published this past March

An American Marriage
Prompts it can fill:
- Set in the US
- New to me author
- Audiobook
- Related to nature (tree on cover)
- ATY Challenge
Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine
- New to me author
- Characters name starts with J U N or E
- Ebook format
The Name of the Wind
I’m only on page 57 of 722 so I’m unsure when I will finish it but it can definitely be used for page count!
Planned books that I can start to fill some prompts:
Homegoing
- Read the rainbow (yellow cover)
- Quirky holiday (Aug 4 is Sisters Day and the book is about half-sisters)
Sugar Run
- LGBTQ+
I always have a few books on the go at any time so I can wait to finish books until they are needed for a bucket.
Chrissy wrote: "I’m currently reading The Stone Sky, Antigone, and [book:Ballad of the Whiskey Robber: A True Story of Bank Heists, Ice Hockey, Transylvanian Pelt Smuggling, Moonlightin..."
We have to read all tasks in each Bucket and finish the Buckets in order.
------------------
Although we have books for Bucket 1 planned, if someone else finishes a book that applies then definitely jump in and tell me.
I'm posting the Spreadsheet in the main post now. I am going to go ahead and let people edit. I can manage the main, first section but if people can keep track of your own sections at the bottom (pages and games) then that's probably easiest.
Just update when a book is finished so I can be sure to add it to the first section.

I’m currently reading Daisy Jones & The Six which would count for a book published in 2019. I’ll try to finish it over the weekend. It could also count for book by a woman or set in North America, but I imagine we’ll have completed those buckets before I finish the book.

I answered the Kickoff questions and noted that on the spreadsheet.
Some books I have planned that could be used to fill buckets (depending on what needs filled when):
Lots of women authors
Lots of new-to-me authors
Several ATY Challenge books
The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek - pub 2019
The Strays - title starting with S, book set on Continent A (Australia)
Under the Udala Trees - LGBTQ, book set on Continent B (Africa)
A Death in the Family - pub in X Decade (1957)
Happy reading everybody! Go team!

Wives and Daughters will definitely need to be for a later bucket, maybe green on the cover, since my edition has lots of trees.
Eat Cake. Be Brave. could work for woman author, published this decade, set in North America, depending on how fast I finish it
Uglies published this decade, set in North America, or audio book format, again depending on how fast I finish it
I do have a few shorter books I plan to read soon that I can finish pretty quickly as needed, like Gone Rogue for graphic novel format, The Fool's Girl for an author that's new to me, etc.
Should I add myself to the spreadsheet, or does it work better if the team leader adds me? I don't want to mess up the formatting by accident.

I’m spending the weekend in my hometown, and just got off the plane. I only brought one book with me (Mrs Dalloway, Virginia Woolf), which I started on my flight. Even though it’s a short book in number of pages, I think it will take me a while. Read the first 30-40 pages on the flight, but they felt like 100!!
I can finish modifying the spreadsheet with team member names when I get home. That should be in a few hours.

I think it works best if you post in the thread when you’ve finished a book. That way we can make sure we all agree about which task it’s best to use the book for.

Different continents as it takes place in New Zealand
it was a Kindle book
It was a new to me Author
Published in June or first published in July

I think you're the first one to post about finishing a book. so it would need to fill a prompt in bucket 1 to count. (Other than the pages, which always count, which is helpful!)

I'm back home for the evening and am excited to really get into the swing of things. Even though I already have a bunch of books checked out from the library, I couldn't resist the urge to make a stop to see if there was anything interesting.
I'll be starting with Daisy Jones & The Six.
But then I can choose from:
Everything Here Is Beautiful
Obsidio
The Craftsman
The Perfect Stranger
I also checked out Parkland: Birth of a Movement but I'll likely read bits and pieces of that when I need a break/something different so it will just be for pages.

We have now earned one question, based on finishing 10 games.
Which question does everyone want to ask?
Which question does everyone want to ask?

I have heard so many great things about the audio for Daisy Jones & The Six, looking forward to hear what you all think of it. I have it downloaded on my phone ready to go :)

Happy reading everyone! 😊

I am reading The Sun Is Also a Star which can count towards the 'book by a woman' challenge from the first bucket and i read 230 pages of it

I have 2 books on the go now though, both by women, and I plan on finishing at least one by tomorrow. They're also in 2 different formats (paperback and Kindle) and published in different decades. All of my books will be for the ATY challenge.
One later one has been published in 2019. I have all my physical books sorted by colour - so it should be easy to assign me a colour of the rainbow if needed (currently I have lots of blue and red to read!)

- 2 books set on different continents
- 2 books published in different decades
- 2 books in different formats (eg an audiobook and a kindle book, etc)
- 2 books published in 2019
- 3 books by authors that are new to you
- 2 books related to nature (i.e. cover setting, title, etc.)
- A book where main character's name begins with J, U, N, or E
- A book discovered during the read-a-thon (in the group or elsewhere)
- Read the rainbow (a book with a cover for each color - red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple)
I can do the same and hold off on the last chapter if we need.
I'm going to go through and add everyone's current reads in a new sheet. I figure then people can use that to help choose a second read.

Is the author living?
is the author well known?
Has this author's books been made into movies or tv adaptation?
Does the Author live in the United States?
Just something to think about

Jennifer, you have to complete a bucket before completing tasks for the next bucket, but you can begin to work on subsequent buckets.

So I'm reading Where the Crawdads Sing
and have two on deck: Six of Crows
102 Minutes: The Untold Story of the Fight to Survive Inside the Twin Towers
Today got by me so tomorrow I'll see what bucket they might help.
I did get the kick-off questionnaire completed
