I finished Interview with the Vampire (Entrevista con el vampiro) for bucket 9 (books that span several years)
I’m close to finishing my audiobook Ballad of the Whiskey Robber: A True Story of Bank Heists, Ice Hockey, Transylvanian Pelt Smuggling, Moonlighting Detectives, and Broken Hearts, which takes place over several years. Should finish tonight or tomorrow morning.

Was the author born after 1970?
These good or do you want to tweak the year?"
I like those questions
I finished House of Stone: A Memoir of Home, Family, and a Lost Middle East which spanned the history of his family and Lebanon over a century.
Is the author European? YESDoes the author's surname begin with a letter A-M? YES
Was the author born after 1970? YES
The spreadsheet is now updated with the new buckets. If everyone can now go in and add their current reads to the planning tab, we can look for gaps.
I don't really have a new book that I'm excited about so I may just have to take a trip to the library tomorrow. I usually totally rationalize that by saying it's okay as long as I return some at the time... right?

I also am adding a tab for the prompt for the matching titles. My suggestion would be for everyone to go in and enter their available books or books on their (short) TBR so we can see if there are any matching words.
I noted my completion of The Flight Portfolio yesterday but did not see the additional buckets until today. This book could also qualify for the following:-A book about a person who travels to another country
-A book with a major plot twist
-A book with a romantic element
Andrea, we can only count a book for our current bucket. So that one would have had to count for the bucket we were on then.
That's okay! We're making steady progress and I'm going to be sure to read some short books coming up :)

And with that, we're on to Bucket 10! Good job, team :)
So now we need to work on:
2 books with a child main character (I think under 18 is fine)
A book with a celestial body in the title or on the cover

What did you think of Beartown, Devin? I really loved both books, maybe even Us Against You more than Beartown because of my love for Benji.
I finished Number the Stars (¿Quién cuenta las estrellas?) for bucket 10.The book fits in both tasks
I read 120 pages today of Men Explain Things to Me and will definitely be finishing it off tomorrow. I also plan on reading a couple of graphic novels tomorrow, if I have time. I finished today's Guess the Movie game too.
I will finish “everything I never told you” tonight, which has a 16-year-old main character so we can count it for that
I finished Brother by David Chariandy and it fit the child as a main character prompt. So we should use Vanessa's Number the Stars as the Celestial on and we have this bucket done!
I put in the titles of some of the shorter books I have on my TBR for the matching titles prompt but I’m thinking it may be best to ignore/remove mine if we’re going to be finishing that bucket before tomorrow night (I just found out that I’m working a double shift today outside the office so no audiobooks while slogging through paperwork)!
Devin wrote: "Maybe we can ask if she's ever won a Goodreads Choice award."I like this question. I feel like if you don't narrow it down to some kind of list or award or something it will be very hard. Even if we narrowed it down to exact country and surname letter (which would take a lot of guesses) there would likely still be quite a few authors who would fit.
Does anyone from the group have any book recommendations for that prompt? Not ones that are too large. :)
I think we should ask the GR awards question.
Katie wrote: "You might want to think if you want to ask if they won or if they were nominated."Yes good point!
I just finished the movies and the questions from today. My work life yesterday went crazy but I'm off today so I'm hoping that I can get one book read for sure.
What does everyone think? Should we ask the question of whether they have ever been nominated for a Goodreads Choice award?
About recommendations:- Numbers the stars by Lois Lowry
- The boy in the striped pajamas by John Boyne
- Chronicle of a death foretold by Gabriel Garcia Márquez
- Of mice and men by John Steinbeck

Thanks! I just downloaded Number the Stars from the library so I can do the recommendation prompt.

Have you read The Boy at the Top of the Mountain?

No, but I just clicked on the link and it looks good!

Great recommendations! I can read Chronicle of a Death Foretold, I have been meaning to read it for a while.
Lieke, I only read "The boy in the striped pajamas" by John Boyne, but looks Good the book that you mentioned.
I'm going to start reading The Silent Patient. The author is from Cyprus so we can count it for the island prompt. If Debra finishes her book first then it could also be used for the matching word prompt (assuming Debra is still okay with reading Silent as the Grave).
That means we move on to the next bucket! Now we're focusing on:
A book about a person moves to another country
A book by an author from an island

A book by an author from an island

It is really good, not fun (like boy in the striped pajamas) but very good
I should be done with The Center of Everything in the next couple of hours and will start on Silent as the Grave than
I think I'm totally lost on what bucket we are actually on. I just finished reading The Playboy of Puerto Banús . The main character Estelle moves to Spain from England during the book. I think we are on a main character moving to another country?
