I finished The Whisper Man by Alex North. It will help with the page count but not with - A book another member of this group recommended to you
- A book that takes place in the summer.
Kathy Jo wrote: "Finished Number the Stars for the recommended prompt"Good because I didn't quite finish it last night, we have family staying with us. I will save the ending now for the book from a country you haven't been to prompt.
We should probably start the questions off with the easy obvious ones before we have no idea what to do :) Are they female?
Based on discussions in the groups, we've decided to just do 2 authors and give you a break from that portion of the challenge. You can spend the rest of the read-a-thon working on the buckets. Happy reading.

Hi team! I am currently almost finished with Mrs Dalloway, only have 10 pages left. Do we still need a book set in summer? From the spreadsheet it looks like we do, but I am not sure? If yes, I will finish it now. If no, I will save those last pages for a book with heart on the cover (my edition has lots of hearts on it). I am currently enjoying the sun in Florence and have a nice, cool Aperol Spritz in my hand - bliss 🤩. Arrived yesterday, and we went to Firenze Rocks and saw Smashing Pumpkins and Tool - it was fab!
Enjoy your weekend, everyone:)
Hi Hilde, I think that we still need a book set in summer. Andrea mentioned that her book don't count for the task and about the Holly's book i don't know if set in summer
Cool, thanks Vanessa! Then we count it towards the summer prompt, just finished it. It was quite tedious. I think we are ready to move to bucket 15!!
I have been holding off reading the epilogue for my romance book. I will do that as soon as I get home (maybe 4 hours?)
As we are now on bucket 15 I’ve just read the last chapter of The Westing Game which fits for plot twist task.
I should finish The Silent Patient today but it was a convenient one since it also counts for plot twist. I’ll update the spreadsheet when I get home :)
I am startingThe Milk Lady of Bangalore: An Unexpected Adventure by Shoba Narayan. Perhaps I can finish it in time to fulfill one of these bucket tasks.- A book set in country you've never been to
- A book involving an animal/with animal on cover
- A book by an author of color
- A book with more than 20 letters in title
I should finish The Astonishing Color of After this afternoon. For those who've read it, would you say enough of it takes place in Taiwan to count that for country I've never been to? It feels about 50/50 to me between Taiwan and the US, but it's hard for me to judge for sure with an audio book. If we would count it for that, I'll make sure I hold off on the last chapter until we finish the romantic element prompt for this bucket.
I'm reading Back to the Bedroom and my edition has tiny hearts on the cover. Don't know if that counts for the one about hearts...I can hold the last chapter til we hit there if it does.
That brings us to Bucket 16! Now we're focusing on:
- A book with a heart on the cover/in title
- 2 books set in countries you've never been to
- A book with a heart on the cover/in title
- 2 books set in countries you've never been to
I have been working on longer books so I was not contributing to the buckets much, but I have been adding my page counts and games to the spreadsheet. I am currently working on Maybe You Should Talk to Someone: A Therapist, Her Therapist, and Our Lives Revealed, and I am enjoying it (also recommend it). But I doubt I will be done with it before Sunday. It is an easy read but it is 412 pages. I am also listening to My Beloved World by Sonia Sotomayor.
I'm almost done with
. It's a crow's wing, if you think that's enough animal I'll hold off on finishing it. Or, since it's fantasy it's not a country any of us have visited :)
I finished The Astonishing Color of After, and if you all are okay with counting it, we can use it for 'country I've never been to.Edited to add: Or, if I missed one that finishes off that bucket, we can use the bird for 'animal on the cover' maybe
I think we can count The Astonishing Color of After, the description makes it sound like it's pretty focused on Taiwan.
I also think we're fine to count Six of Crows. If you enlarge the cover, you can actually see the whole head. So pretty clear to me :)
That means we're now on Bucket 17 and need 2 books by authors of color

On to Bucket 18!!
- A book with more than 20 letters in title
- A graphic novel/book with illustrations
It's a really close game and we're actually way ahead in pages. We can still pull ahead, bumblebees!

I interpreted the prompt that it could include 20. Unless someone argues with it then I say we go for it!
I'm almost finished with The Silent Patient. I'm confident with counting it towards the NASA prompt (Psyche mission) since it's set in an inpatient psych unit and is all about therapy. I can hold off on the last page or so until we reach the next bucket.
Laura wrote: "I interpreted the prompt that it could include 20. Unless someone argues with it then I say we go for it!"Cool, I will aim to finish it by tonight!
I’m picking up a short graphic novel tomorrow anyway, but if you need something to read tonight go ahead!
I finished Daisy Jones & The Six, and I'm 74 pages into On the Come Up. I also did today's Disney Book Tag.
I finished The American Presidents: From Washington to Clinton for the prompt 20 letters or more. It was 378 pages.
Adding my book to the NASA spot now!
That means we just need A book related to the 2020 Summer Olympics in Japan in order to finish bucket 19.

On phone so can’t link to book but I have finished
Ring by Koji Suzuki set in Japan
Ring by Koji Suzuki set in Japan
On the final bucket!
- Book published in the last three years (2017, 2018, 2019) that had a lot of buzz but that you didn't read
- Book with a synopsis that includes a question

Good job everyone! I went to bed last night thinking it was too bad I wouldn't have a lot of reading time to finish any books today, but I think you all have it under control without me. :-)

I am currently reading On the Come Up, which I should be able to finish today, so that should work for the book published in the last 3 years that had a lot of buzz.
I'm almost done with Back to the Bedroom. The description on GR ends with a ?? if that counts. I have 12 pgs
Finished Back to the Bedroom. 234 pgs added. will add them to the spreadsheet when I get back to the computer
I'm sure I'll be finishing off On the Come Up today, but probably not until just before I go to bed. If anyone else reads something else to fit the book published in the last 3 years sooner, it might make more sense to count that.On the plus side, great book and I would highly recommend it so far!
I also really liked it, Rachel! Maybe I went in with low expectations since so many people were comparing her to Star, but I loved the main character in this one. In some ways, I think she was fleshed out a little more.
