I started to do this and got overwhelmed, so I am super impressed!
Candie wrote: "Maybe be specific and hope it's right? Like does his surname start with an F?"If you go with 'does his surname start with B' that actually about splits the list in half.

So, 'did he die before the year 2000?' would be a good way to narrow it down, I think?
According to Google Mikhail Bulgakov and Giorgio de Chirico born before 1900, and Julian Barnes is alive :)
I think we have enough of a consensus to make these questions official:Does his last name start with B?
Did he die before the year 2000?

Anand, Mulk Raj (2004)
Could you describe a man who was born, died and lived most of his life in India and was also involved in the Indian independence movement as European?

I think you were right to remove him.
My guess is that it is either John Fowles or Umberto Eco as they are more well known. Let's go with death date before 2010 as a question.

I'm fine with making a guess of Umberto Eco or asking another question. I think you can guess the person wrong four times so either way we can get this!

Hoorah, Eco's still in ;)

Haha! Good guess! I think there is a good chance of it being either him or John Fowles. They both have multiple books on the list
CONGRATS, TEAM!!
We (you) guessed the author correctly!
Since all teams have correct guesses for one author, it is now a race to see who can finish all buckets first :)

STING! Good job bees
Yay! We guessed the author.
Would this book work for quirky summer holiday?
Campfire Day (1st Saturday in August) - Smoke Rising read today.
Or Disobediance Day (3rd July) - John Smoke frequently disobeys his partner Sidney Shaw.
Edit: I've just seen that Interview with a Vampire was being read for Frankenstein Day. My book has a werewolf and zombies.

Wow, so much activity today - excellent work with guessing the author!! I just bought ‘The name of the rose’ at a flea market; good timing with him being our author and the new TV series out :) I got in some good hours of audio on my flight today, will update the spreadsheet and do some of the games tomorrow when I have my computer back. Not a good weekend for a RAT for me, but you all are rocking it! 👏🏻
We only need one more quirky holiday book before we finish up this bucket and can move on to the one with the rainbow.
So if you're reading one of the books for the cover color, be sure to wait to finish until after we get to that bucket!

We'll also assign you a second author to work on as you continue to work toward completing your buckets.
I can read
