Sarah I loved Homegoing, An American Marriage and Eleanor. so based on that I think I'll add Sugar Run. I have The Name of the Wind on my list, but so intimidated by the length. How are you finding it?

You can be reading a book for a bucket at any time, you just have to finish the book when we're working on the bucket.

I have now added current reads, as much as possible given the info provided in the comment. Some I did a little extra research. Everyone can feel free to check to see if their info is correct.

The main thing is to just fill in the major gaps. Right now we need:
- A book inspired by a summer holiday (likely that we could use a book to fill one)
- Book on page 6 (I do have The Craftsman for this one but it's not my current read)
- Colored covers - yellow, blue and purple

message 53: by Debra (new)

Debra Barstad I can do a book on page 6 Winter Kill by Nancy Steedle

message 54: by Holly (new)

Holly | 58 comments I have a wide variety of color covers. I'm sure I can fill in there with whatever is missing

message 55: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Barstad (maidenoflight) So shouldnt it be whoever finishes the book for any of the tasks can claim it? Or do we wait for the person who claimed the task to finish their book?

message 56: by Laura, Celestial Sphere Mod (new)

Laura | 3780 comments Mod
We can definitely modify it as we go. So if someone finishes a book for the current bucket then we will switch them out and move forward.

Most early books can also count for later buckets so they will just get shifted forward.

Our graphic has now been updated :)

message 58: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Barstad (maidenoflight) Ok. Just trying to figure it all out.

message 59: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Barstad (maidenoflight) I also read 62 pages today. These 10 hr work days dont give me much time for reading, lol.

message 60: by Marta (last edited Jun 07, 2019 08:54PM) (new)

Marta (gezemice) | 859 comments Hi everyone, I just joined :) I am currently reading Foundation and Empire. I don’t think it works for anything but page count for bucket 1, but it was published in the 1950s if we need a second decade. And it is on the Kindle if we need a second format.

I have on deck Maybe You Should Talk to Someone: A Therapist, Her Therapist, and Our Lives Revealed, which is by a woman and published in 2019.

I have 9 books on my TBR. I deleted it in February. No page 6 for me.

Edit: Only 7, lol. I started reading two of them.

Edit 2: I forgot about my audio line-up. I am listening to Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones, and next will be My Beloved World by Sonia Sotomayor, for my IRL book club.

message 61: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa | 282 comments Hi team!
For today I read 125 pages, I'm currently on 66% done with The Peace War (La guerra de la paz)

message 62: by Rachel (last edited Jun 07, 2019 09:33PM) (new)

Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 3266 comments I'm currently reading Empire of Storms. Just under halfway through at the moment, but hoping to finish it off by the end of the day on Sunday.

Edit: Totally forgot to mention, but I read a total of 130 pages today.

message 63: by Kathy Jo (new)

Kathy Jo (kjsotr) | 304 comments Finished The Secret Garden

Page count: 225

Now, off to bed.

message 64: by Marta (new)

Marta (gezemice) | 859 comments 96 pages today, 40% done with Foundation and Empire.
I also finished the Kick-off game.

message 65: by Desiree (new)

Desiree Germain | 25 comments I have to read Exit West for a book club I’m in, which has a purple cover. I can throw it into this week if we still need a purple one!

message 66: by Lieke (new)

Lieke | 697 comments Yesterday I read 126 pages from De Celestijnse belofte, I didn't read the last 10 pages so I can finish it when we need the book.

message 67: by Ella (new)

Ella (ellsbellsbooks) | 9 comments Currently reading My Sweet Audrina by Virginia Andrews which may count towards written by a woman

message 68: by Lieke (new)

Lieke | 697 comments I started The Boy at the Top of the Mountain it is on page 6 of my TBR.

message 69: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi All! New Bumblebee here.

If the books I read during the challenge but before I joined count then I read:

The Killings at Badger's Drift by Caroline Graham 265 pages - 128 pages read on 7th June

Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel 224 pages on 7th June

message 71: by dalex (last edited Jun 08, 2019 04:01AM) (new)

dalex (912dalex) | 2646 comments Good morning bumbles!

Yesterday I read 216 pages and finished The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek. For buckets this would work for:

Book by a woman
Book published in 2019
Book for the ATY challenge
Book by a new-to-you author
Book with a blue cover

Happy reading team mates! Make it a good day! :)

Bryony (bryony46) | 1081 comments AnnaNeverLands wrote: "I know it might sound stupid, but what is the kickoff thingy??"

Not stupid at all, there are lots of threads to keep up with already. :-) Here’s the kickoff post. You just need to answer the questions there and then you can count it as completed.

message 73: by Lieke (last edited Jun 08, 2019 03:59AM) (new)

Lieke | 697 comments I read 100 pages in The Boy at the Top of the Mountain and will leave the last 10 pages for when we need the book.

I'm now starting Främlingen, it has a blue cover. It is over 700 pages but luckily for me the blue cover is in bucket 8 ;)

Edit: I think we earned a new guess, because more then 20 did the kickoff game

Edit 2: with the Secret Garden (Kathy Jo) and The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek (Dalex) we filled bucket 1 so we have another question

I think the is the author living is a good question. And maybe about where he lives USA/Europe/Asia....

I’m really liking it so far. I’m at about 100 pages in now and am at the point where it’s about to pick up. I’m just a little worried that it’s going to be similar to A Song of Fire and Ice series (where you fall in love with a series and have to wait years for the next book). It’s still early yet but I feel like I’m going to like this series more than ASOFAI!

With regards to Sugar Run I’m not 100% sure about it. I had seen it in a lot of Most Anticipated lists and bought the ebook when it was on sale for a few dollars. It doesn’t have the greatest rating on Goodreads but I still want to give it a chance 😊

message 76: by Laura, Celestial Sphere Mod (new)

Laura | 3780 comments Mod
Yes, Lieke is right.

We have 2 more questions.

Do we want to go with Lieke's suggestions?

Is the author living?

We have to ask yes/no questions so would need to decide how to ask where the author is living, in that format.

Good job, team Bumble!

I really liked Sugar Run and am surprised at the ratings other readers have been giving it. I thought it had an excellent sense of place, an interesting protagonist, and a compelling story.

message 78: by Bryony (new)

Bryony (bryony46) | 1081 comments Just finished Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid. It was a bit of a slow start but then I read the last 150 pages without stopping as I couldn’t wait to read more about the characters. It’s not my usual type of book but I’m really glad I didn’t give up on it as I ended up really enjoying it.

It can count for:
- written by a woman
- set in North America
- published in 2019

message 79: by Holly (new)

Holly | 58 comments I vote to go with Lieke's idea. Take a few of her questions.

I also finished Calendar Girls Vol 4. Plug in where needed. Add 421 pages to our total. I don't count pages until the end of the book so if you need pages for a bucket, just message me.

message 80: by Hilde (new)

Hilde (hilded) | 821 comments I agree with the rest of you :) Maybe wording it something like: Is the author British?(/or American?)

Lieke: are you in Sweden? Got curious as I saw you were diving into the Swedish edition of the Outlander series! Love the TV show, it’s my guilty pleasure. But haven’t read the books yet.

On the reading side, I am making slooow progress on Mrs Dalloway, got in 50 pages yesterday - and they felt like the triple.. It’s rather boring so far, and I’ve yet to be captivated by the writing style. But; I had the same experience with To the Lighthouse, and ended up liking it in the end, so we’ll see.

I am off to a reunion party with my (high school) class soon, I suspect it will be quite the party - 80 people attending, some I haven’t seen in 20 years 🥳 [We don’t use the term high school here, but I think that is the closest I get when trying to translate].

Enjoy your Saturday 😊

No I live in the Netherlands, but I have lived in Sweden. And still go there at least once a year since my parents bought a holiday home there.

Enjoy your reunion!

It's not perfect but I'm sure we can tweak it as we go :)

I've added Bryony's book to bucket 2. We can only count it for one of the options so we can choose which one we want to apply it to once we get some more books done.

Just to confirm. Are these are next two questions?

- Is the author living?
- Is the author American?

message 85: by Holly (new)

Holly | 58 comments Is the Author American works

message 86: by Debra (new)

Debra Barstad works for me

Raquel (Silver Valkyrie Reads) I like asking if the author is living first, but do we need to be more specific about the 'where they're from' question? I know there's been debate about what that means for prompts before, so would it be better to ask either 'was the author born in America' or 'does/did the author reside in America' to make sure the answer is clear?

Raquel (Silver Valkyrie Reads) I gave up reading Uglies--it was just staying so boring! I replaced it with One of Us Is Lying as an audio book, but I'll probably finish that today and it's the same continent and decade as the book we already have for bucket 2. I did get in 292 pages worth of audio yesterday though!

Khristina wrote: "I finished reading 13 Minutes this morning.

Since I'm not sure where that one is set, I'm going to apply it for decade.

That means we now need a book set in a decade other than the 2010s and a book set somewhere other than North America.

ETA - unless 13 Minutes is set outside N. America. Then it would be better use it for the other continent, I think.

It can count for a book set in Europe.

I finished both of my books that had only 10 pages left
De Celestijnse belofte can count for 1990's

We should have bucket 2 complete now.

So The Boy at the Top of the Mountain can count for paper book.

Edit we where typing at the same time Laura :)
Holly also finished a book calendar girl vol 4

I had just found it when I saw your comment. Updating the spreadsheet now.

We have earned 2 more questions, one for bucket 2 and one for finishing another set of games

message 95: by Chrissy (new)

Chrissy | 1137 comments I’m pretty sure the questions for games are limited to 10 people per game, even though we have many more than 10 members... so the formula for counting number of questions based on games is wrong.

message 96: by Debra (new)

Debra Barstad I finished The Ghost of Shapley Hall by Amy Cross it was a kindle book 137 pages total

I am starting Interview with the Vampire Interview with the Vampire

It is paperback, for ATY, and a new to me author.

message 99: by Debra (new)

This was asked in the introduction topic and the mods answered that it is one question for every 10 games finished. So if 20 people do one game it is 2 questions.
