McKensie and Lara

Damon flinched at the touch and moved away from it, he didn't want sympathy or help. "She'll never be alright..." He muttered bitterly and swallowed letting self hatred engulf him. "Just go..."

Torch shook his head and sighed. "Don't think like that." he said firmly. "You wont know that until you talk to her. You have to see how she's doing Damon. Maybe not right now. But you can't just leave everyone right away, if that is what you are thinking." He said seriously, crossing his arms.

Damon growled "you don't know anything Torch! So go back to your perfect little world and leave me the hell alone!" He shouted and went upstairs slamming the bedroom door. Amazingly his room was still intact, Lexi's on the other hand...well it wasn't as if she was going to use it ever again...

Torch nodded and watched Damon leave. Of course. He, the faithful friend, was pushed away again. He shook his head. He knew Damon was down, and honestly, he just felt bad for him. He went into the kitchen and made a huge pot of meatballs. He left them on the table, with a note that said 'don't give up' and quickly left the house. As his car was gone, he unfurled his wings and soared towards the hospital.

Damon just sat in his pitch black room. He destroyed the mirror above the dresser not wanting to have to see himself, her words before the incident just resonated in his head 'I want to know the real you...I can't fall in love with something fake' and then the brief image he got of her tumbling down the stairs and looking at him with complete fear and pain. He trashed his room and just sat on the floor sobbing.

Torch landed outside the hospital and inquired as to where Lexi was. He found her room and walked in, smiling at her. "How are you doing?"
Lexi turned and nodded. "Ok."
He nodded and sighed. "Damon is alright. If you were wondering." He said kindly to her. "Mae. Can I talk with you?" he asked.

Lexi closed her eyes and tried to forget about everything. There was a hole in her heart. An empty hole that used to be filled with Damon's hugs and kind words. She missed him. And she was afraid of him. She was afraid of what he had become, and what he did. But her fear did not kill her love. And she didn't blame him for her injuries. She blamed herself.

Damon shakily picked up a piece of the broken mirror and glanced at his shrewd reflection before slicing down his arm and finally his wrist. He deserved this, he pushed away anyone that cared about him...he couldn't take the pain anymore it was tearing him apart on the inside leaving him hollow.

Lexi closed her eyes and a lone tear broke away, sliding down her cheek. This was all her fault. Hadn't he warned her not to ask? Hadn't he begged her not to talk about it? And yet she had. She and her stupid selfish self had. And she hated herself for it. She didn't know if she could ever show her face to him again out of shame.

He stared at the blood going down his hand onto the floor, he didn't even feel it. He shivered his body starting to react to the blood loss, he tried to think of the happy times with her. When she wanted to go on vacation...how excited she was when she broke her record...the first time they truly kissed. He swallowed silent tears falling down his cheeks.

Lexi could feel a tear in her heart, as if it was ripping in half. This heart break is much worse than any other I've had. she thought miserably. Her body was starting to go numb again. The feeling she had regained after her heart had patched up was slowly slipping. She was losing hope, losing purpose. Lexi un clipped the IV from her arm, not caring what happened anymore.

Damon's muscles started to cramp tightly and go numb, he gasped a little his body trembling, he shut his eyes tightly wanting it to be over. He quickly grabbed a pad of paper needing to get everything taken care of. He shakily wrote a letter to Lexi, expressing his sincere and devestating apology and how much he loved her and how he couldn't live without her. He tried to sign his name but passed out the pen slipping from his hand.

Lexi resorted to staring at the ceiling, not feeling anything. She was numb. But her heart hurt like nothing had before. She didn't know if it would ever heal. And she wasn't sure if she could take it. No, she was sure she couldn't.

Damon started coming to again, his head throbbing he groaned and sighed deeply. It didn't work...he didn't want to look at Torch, even though he did save his life. He didn't want to be saved...but the look on Torch's face hurt him, he had scared his best friend.

Lexi's hope had shattered. She was letting herself slip deep inside herself, putting up walls and defenses to block everything and everyone out.

Damon sighed not answering him. He slowly sat up and rubbed his head "why do I have to suffer through this pain..." He finally mumbled "I was free for one moment of it...and now it's worse...I'm sorry, but I don't want to be here anymore...the Elders are going to kill me anyways..."

"Love is pain, mate. That's just the way it is. The pain proves that you love her. You can save your life and hers by finishing this and training her again." he said seriously.

Damon sighed "she wants nothing to do with me...she's terrified of me, why would she trust me to train her? If I die then she can get another bond and it will save her..."

Torch shook his head. "How do you know that?" He asked. "I saw her in the hospital and she is on the brink of depression because you aren't there." He said seriously. "It is most likely that she would die if you did Damon, you know that. Come on. You have to come with me. If she wants nothing to do with you, then I... I give you permission to kill yourself." He said softly. "But only if she wants nothing to do with you."

Damon sighed and nodded "alright...it's a deal!" He took flight with his best friend and waited outside of her door "is that her room?..." He whispered not realizing he had hurt her that badly to put her in the hospital "I...I...can't go in there...I can't see her hurt!"

Torch lead the way to the hospital, and then inside and to Lexi's room. He was just opening the door when Damon tried to back up. "Come on. You can't back out now. Are you just going to leave her in pain by herself? She needs you man, why can't you see that?" He pushed Damon towards the door and left him standing right in front of it. "Go on. Go inside."

Mae smiled and pecked her head going to Torch and holding him crying in the hall, she just felt so overwhelmed and almost lost her two good friends "never leave me"

Torch hugged her tightly as she cried. "I wont." He said, kissing her head and resting against her shoulder. "I promise." He would avoid the trauma his friends had gone through at all costs.

Mae swallowed "Alex I love you...I don't say that to anyone but I have to say it to you. In case something happened...I don't want you to think that I don't care..."

Torch looked down into her eyes, cupping her cheek gently. "I love you too Mae. I can't say I haven't said that to anyone else, but I can say that it never meant anything until now." He said, smiling. leaned in and kissed her gently.

Mae kissed him lovingly and nuzzled his chest "let's be matchmakers again and get these two back together...they need eachother, but they are too worried about the other person to let it happen."

Torch laughed softly. "Sounds like a plan." he said, smiling. "Though, are we really the best role models?" He raised an eyebrow, grinning.

Mae smiled and nipped at his lip "I think we are...though we still haven't had our first date, and I got all pretty just to be stabbed in the eye by a butter knife." She teased and kissed him a little deeper.

An extra room. With Mae and Torch and not Damon. It made her heart fall. She felt like she should leave him to keep him safe, and at the same time, she felt like she would die if she left him. She looked down and shook her head. "I cant." She whispered. "I cant do this. I have to leave you to keep you safe, and yet I cant stand being apart from you. I cant live with you and I cant live without you." She mumbled. "So maybe its best not to live at all." She said softly, looking down and away.
Torch was instantly worried. " are you alright?" He asked. "We still will go on a date, I promise, as soon as possible." He said, his hands sliding to her waist as kissed her again.

Damon took her hand instinctively and kissed it "never say that again! I'm safe with you...I'm going to kill myself if you leave, please Lexi...please!" He pleaded "I'll do anything but I need you...I love you, I don't want us to be seperated...I'm safe and I'll make sure you are..."
Mae smiled "Mmm I like that." She whispered in his eat and nodded "scars are sexy right?...maybe I should get stitches?"she nuzzled him "Mmm I like your demon form thankfully."

He was safe? Was he? Really? She had caused him to kill himself. What if that happened again? But he was that big scary... thing. So he could take care of himself, right? Yes he could. She decided to trust that he would be alright. "Ok. I wont say it again." She hugged him hesitantly, "Im not going anywhere."
Torch laughed. "Of course scars are sexy. But dont hurt yourself just to look good please." He said seriously. "Oh you like it, do you? How so?" He asked.

Mae smirked "I won't..." And she left it at that lacing her hand with his "you going to hold my hand while I get stitches?"

Torch nodded and smiled. "Of course I will hold your hand he agreed. "I'll always be there for you." he promised.

Mae smiled and went to the exam room and sat on the table as they stitched up her eye. She smirked at him and squeezed his hand "you up next?"

Torch watched as they stitched Mae up, wincing every now and then for her. Then his eyes widened and he shook his head. "Oh no. No thanks. Me and doctors don't mesh. No thanks. I'll heal with time." He said stubbornly.

Mae smiled and kissed his lips "I know it was a joke...trying to make you look less terrified. I can't feel a thing at all...except warm lips"

Torch visibly relaxed. "Whew." He said, grinning. "Well then. Better make use of that, huh?" He asked, kissing her passionately for a brief moment just to tease her. Then he helped her off the exam table. "Shall we go check on the others and go home?"

Mae jumped into his arms and kissed him passionately lacing her fingers in his hair "or...we could just go home? I'm sure they are just fine"

Torch laughed in surprise in delight when she jumped on him and kissed him. He shrugged. "Yeah sure. Guess they're fine." he said, adjusting her so he was carrying her bridal style out to his car. He kissed her again twice on the way there.

Mae gripped onto him and smiled kissing him again "hmmm maybe I should have told you I love you earlier?"

Torch chuckled softly as he placed her in the passenger seat, before getting in the driver side and kissing her once more as he started the car. "Yeah. That would have sped things up a bit." He joked.

Mae smiled "your still my best friend though right? No mushy junk?"

Torch laughed, pulling up in his driveway. "Of course!" He agreed, sweeping her off her feet and carrying her into the house. "If we weren't still friends, then I could no longer wrestle with you."

Mae laughed and tackled him to the couch and smiles "we can still wrestle...just in a different way."
Torch sighed, both in relief and with regret and sympathy for his friend. He walked over laying a hand gently on his shoulder. "Hey. She's going to be alright, ok? She's with Mae." He slowly helped his friend stand. "Let's go get you cleaned up."
