McKensie and Lara

Damon was at 5 laps now he kept seeing Torch swim by, but what about the girl? She was probably lagging behind them, girls weren't that fast. He blinked feeling the temperature change a little, maybe a cloud moved over the sun. He was determined to win so he kept going.

Torch felt the temperature slowly start to change from nice, to cool, to a little too cold to be comfortable and he frowned. Are there clouds? Is it raining? What caused that? He could feel the heat in him start to dim, and his vision grew a little fuzzy, but he was determined not to give up, so he kept swimming.

Damon blinked, now it was cold! He felt like the time he had been dated to jump into that lake in Alaska...oh wait that was Torch that dared him. He couldn't take it much longer! Come on Torch come up first you can't handle the cold as easily! He begged in his mind.

Torch's movements had started to slow, and that frustrated him. He tried to move faster, not give up, still win, but his internal heat was spluttering, dying. Still he ignored the warning signals in his head and continued. And that was when his fire went out, and he went unconscious almost immediately, sinking slowly to the bottom of the pool - motionless.

Damon quickly got Torch out and swore getting warm towels and rubbing his body vigorously his face screwed in concentration. He blinked seeing Mae struggle and helped her out quickly before she sank lower.
Mae gripped onto Damon her lips slightly blue she felt so stupid and guilty "it's all my f-f-fault" she chattered and watched Torch worriedly. "This was a stupid idea!" She didn't want him to get hurt...this is what happens when she tried to be herself...nothing good.

Torch was a lot paler than he should be, and his skin was cold, no longer heated by the fire that should have been burning inside him. Not only was his body as cold as ice, but he had also breathed in a good deal of water when he went unconscious.

Damon rushed in trying to grab everything he could find to get his friend warm. He needed to tell the Elder's but Mae would be punished and likely killed...what was he supposed to do?!

About fifteen minutes later, Torch's eyes slowly opened and they widened slightly when he found Mae's mouth on his. He coughed and jerked into a sitting position. "Rather eager, aren't we?" he asked feebly, before twisting and throwing up a good deal of water. Then he sank back down to the ground, shaking from weakness.

Damon turned up the heat and got Torch all tucked into his bed and put of his wet clothes he sighed getting him warm tea and soup. "No wise cracks just get some rest..." He muttered.

Torch shook his head, trying to get up, but he was far too weak to move much. "I have to get Mae." he insisted, struggling to sit up. "She looked upset. I have to help her." He said, trying to crawl off his bed.

Lexi paced around the pool, back and forth, back and forth, trying to decide what to do. Finally she decided to go after Mae. She had been gone too long. Shifting quickly into her demon form, she took off to the skies, searching for Mae. Suddenly, she felt a sharp pain in her back, and then her world went dark.

Mae was unconscious at the bottom of the valley, she was badly wounded back into her human form.

Torch gasped and started to struggle, trying to get upright again. "I have to go.... get her..." He panted.
((probs last post :( ))

Lexi clung to Damon, scared out of her wits by what happened. "I'm I'm sorry." She stammered, tears filling her eyes. "I don't know what happened..." She whispered.
((Last post. bye. :) ))

Torch shifted, feeling Mae's energy again. "Where is she?" He asked softly to no one in particular. He tried to sit up again. "Where is she? Where is Mae?"

He went back to Torch and pushed him back down, he closed his eyes and focused the energy from him to Torch similar to what Torch did earlier for Mae but he wouldn't lose that much energy. He pulled back when he felt the flame again and he had to pull his hand away from the heat.

Torch felt himself grow stronger and when his fire started again. He jerked up in bed. "Where is she?" He asked, frantic. "Where is she?" He demanded again, practically bounding out of bed. "Tell me what happened!" He begged.

Lexi watched as the ambulance doors slammed and the truck drove off. She reached over to Damon, hesitantly slipping her hand into his. "They'll be ok now, right?" She asked hopefully. She couldn't lose her only friend right after she had just found her.

Damon hugged her tightly to him, he just needed to feel her to know she was still there with him. That could have been his Lexi...and it would have killed him "Just stay..." He wasn't thinking about the others at that moment because it was just so much, she kept him grounded made him feel stronger.

Lexi hugged him back, leaning against him. She felt so weak and dizzy. It was too much to take in. Two people had almost died in the span of fifteen minutes. What if that had been her and Damon? She couldn't fathom it. "I'm not going to leave you." She assured.

Damon kissed her head and rubbed her back "I'm never going to leave you...you are my life now and it's more of a life in these few days then ever before." He led her back inside looking for things to take for both of them at the hospital, they were going to be fine...he kept repeating to himself in his head.

Never going to leave her? Did that mean... did that mean he felt something for her? Did that mean... he loved her? Lexi's heart started to pound and she stopped just staring at him.

Damon packed an overnight bag for Torch and glanced at Lexi, why was she staring at him like that?...did he say something wrong? "Can you grab things Mae might want?"

Lexi stayed still for another moment. Then, as if her feet were moving on their own, she walk up to him, stood on her tip toes, and kissed his lips gently. Sinking back down, she blushed and shook her head. "I'm sorry... I don't know what came over me... I just..."

Torch didn't look up. He kept his head in his hands, his shoulders hunched in miserable defeat. "Hey." He said softly, huddling up smaller.

The nurse walked out "Alex Milton? Mae is in her recovery room now if you'd like to see her." She said with a small smile "her surgery went great and she pulled through, she's going to be just fine."

Lexi smiled when they said Mae would be fine. Thank goodness. She slipped her hand into Damon's and gave it a light squeeze. "Everything is ok now, right? Mae will be fine?" She asked, trusting Damon's word more than the nurse's.
((g2g. Leaving to the airport. Bye! :) ))

The nurse smiled and led him to her room, Mae was looking more like herself she was still asleep but she had her coloring back and wasn't mangled. Her eyes fluttered when he entered the room instantly feeling his energy.
Damon smiled and kissed her head "yeah, everything is going to be perfect...Torch is going to heal the rest and it'll be like it never happened!" He said positively and he felt like that really was true. But he was also a sap in love so everything was rainbows and sparkles.

Lexi nodded and smiled. "Ok." she said, happy now. She hugged him, positively giddy about being in love with him. "So what happens now?" She asked him, smiling. "Are we in a relationship? Or dating? Or a couple? Or what?" She asked.

Damon chuckled "all of the above?..." He nuzzled her and pecked her cheek "I'm just happy you are mine! I'm happy that you want me back and that you trust me to protect and take care of you."

Torch shook his head, holding her close against him, afraid that if he let go he would lose her again. "It's ok. We're both ok now. It wasn't your fault." He assured, kissing the top of her head gently.
Lexi smiled and nodded, closing her eyes and melting into his arms when he kissed her cheek gently. She nodded and smiled. "I am yours. And yours only. And I do trust you." She confirmed, leaning against him. "I trust you with my life."

Damon smiled "I have to train you and make you perfect for the Elders...so we have to work together alright? So if I'm strict I'm sorry doesn't mean I don't love you...I just don't want to be an eternal slave."

Lexi raised an eyebrow. "Train me? What Elders? I'm fine with you being strict. You've already tortured me. Doubt it can get worse than that." She teased, elbowing him. "And what's with the eternal slave thing? What do you mean by that?"

Damon sighed "You have to prove yourself to be a powerful Demon to the Elders...of the underground. If you don't pass you get a new bounded and I get the choice of being killed or an eternal slave."

Lexi sucked in a breath. "Great. Just great." She breathed, the panic rising in her voice. "And how am I supposed to do that? My demon is a kitten with wings." She exclaimed, stressed. He was going to die or become a slave if she didn't pull through. No pressure.

Damon smiled "you'll do just fine! We just have to get that invisibility under control. You could be terrifying and then they'll truly allow you in and we can be together."

Lexi sighed. "Yeah. I guess." She agreed, not entirely convinced. "When do we start practicing?" She asked, eager to get as good as possible sk she could save damon.

Damon felt them leave and smiled "ready to get back home?"

Lexi nodded eagerly. "Yes. Lets go." She agreed. She wanted some time just her and him. Away from the crowds. She slipped her hand into his and smiled.
((G2g. See u in the morning :) ))
Torch swam as fast as he could, never letting any of his air out, not even a bubble. He was unaware that Mae had gotten out of the pool, he just kept swimming, determined to win.
